What about this then? Man goes on a business trip, picks up a stranger in the hotel and dies of a heart attack while having sex with her. The French court decides it was an industrial accident so his company has to pay compensation. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-49662134 One for the "you couldn't make it up" file.

I am like that tbh. When I was an engineer I would rather eat in the van than in a welfare room which tended to be inhabited with grotty bastards who were too smelly and too loud.

I note EVERYONE currently sitting on 106 points has Leah Bracknell in their team. For all the admiration due to the current trio of leaders her survival into 2020 would put us in our collective place as expert dead poolers, eh? Not getting smug at all. I'm one of 50 in there with my DDP joker points riding on what's left of her life force - but she's admirably tough. Might even nip down Holland and Barrett myself tomorrow and start imbibing whatever it is she's on.

ALREADY HAD A SECOND COMING!!! As @TomTomTelekom posted elsewhere: "Popular pop rock musician and songwriter Camilo Sesto, who totaled 52 number 1 hits and 18 top 40 list songs throughout his career, dead at 72 years. He sold over 175 millions copies of his albums. https://www.bbc.com/mundo/noticias-49623958" ---------------- Fenholt, whose body was found lifeless at home, rose to fame for his portrayal of Jesus Christ in the musical Jesus Christ Superstar, premiered on Broadway in 1971. The artist's death happened casually only two days after Camilo Sesto, who also starred in Jesus Christ Superstar in 1973. SC

As much as Mrs msc would love the coffee, this is based mostly on sods law, Sir Creep. Although iirc @Death Impends is pretty confident of a QO for her.

Lauren Fay Bruner, one of the last survivors of the bombing of USS Arizona during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor during World War II, has died. He was 98. (Bruner had been wounded by machine gun rounds and suffered burns to over 73% of his body and spent the next seven months recuperating in a Navy hospital). After his death, only three survivors remain alive ( Don Stratton, Lou Conter, and Ken Potts). He will be buried with the wreckage of the USS Arizona. RIP SC EDIT: So I thought I would have a look, and Bruner did get a QO, meaning the last three names are all in play for DDP purposes.

If anyone ever wants to know what list I used for my own entry, just look at my shadow list. You might find the answer there.

I was in Senior school/walking home. Two things that stick out that day. The teacher in the last lesson kept walking out of class and had a worried look on his face,I'm very observant so I noticed it. I think a few others did but he never said anything to us. A Teacher telling everyone at school gates to go straight home and when pressed just said something is happening in America. Me and my friends ran home. I also remember my dad (RIP) saying it was like a movie I don't know if he was trying to protect me or drop hints. Sadly I never asked him.

This thread is strangely quiet - considering the quality of death we've had since SC last posted.

Everybody here will be able to tell you what they were doing that day. It had that much of an impact. Ditto Kennedy, the Moon landing and who shot JR. Small nation we may be but we are worldly in a way the US could only hope to be. Ok?

Unfortunately, it isn't just neglect. When folk on Question Time talk of dumping their excess nuclear waste in Scotland, gaining chuckles and cheers.... When Scottish Parliament budgets are cut merely on political grounds rather than financial requirement... When politicians take our farmers' EU payments and spend the majority of them in England... When Inheritance Tax revenues paid on a UK wide basis are appropriated for care budgets solely in England... When Scotland cries out for immigration and globalisation, she is ignored because folk down South are becoming more insular and nationalistic.... When Bawjaws has made statements that no Scot could or should ever become Prime Minister of the UK.... I could go on and on. The Union hasn't worked for Scotland in decades. If Bawjaws does get in at any election, the Union is over.

As a songwriter and musician myself, this is one of the biggest deaths for me this year and maybe decade (along with Downie in 2017). R.I.P D.J

Daniel Johnston, the outsider folk artist whose childlike pleas for love captivated the likes of Kurt Cobain and Tom Waits, has died. The singer died of a heart attack. He was 58. The singer will best be remembered for his warbly, high tenor and simplistic ruminations on love and life on songs like “Life in Vain,” “True Love Will Find You in the End,” and “Walking the Cow.” Cobain wore a T-shirt repping Johnston’s Hi, How Are You album, and artists including Flaming Lips, Death Cab for Cutie, Bright Eyes, and Beck have all covered his songs. SC (edit: aye, I see Joey posted elsewhere earlier now).
