Thread for your grandmother's favourite crooner, Engelbert Humperdinck. Now 85 years old. His wife passed away not too recently, and while he generally seemed to be in good health, gave interviews and such, he has now fallen seriously ill and had to cancel all of his tour: https://www.the-sun.com/uncategorized/4038747/engelbert-humperdinck-cancels-uk-tour/ Possible DeathList candidate?

Please Release Him, let him go... His own website says rescheduling for early next year, (I'm not clicking on The Scum) so even if its serious, he/his management is playing it down. Then again, at 85, borrowed time & all that. Certainly DL-worthy IMO.

Many thanks to msc for tying up the Andrew McDonald loose end . 300 valuable points to gcreptile to shoot up to 4th place in the standings. For the record here are your leaders: Drol (2084 points) 13 hits [Dilip Kumar*, Dovid Soloveitchic, Emmanuel Evans-Anfom, Ernie Moss, Frank Worthington, Gerd Muller, Greg Gilbert, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Mikis Theodorakis, Norman Lloyd, Ruthie Tompson, Toko Shinodam, Vittore Bochetta ] Etushispushingupdaisies (1563 points) 9 hits [Bernard Tapie, Bill Freehan, Dai Davies, Greg Gilbert, Lars Goran Petrov, Michael Cullen Rush Limbaugh, Sarah Harding, Yoo Sang Chul] En Passant (1535 points) 12 hits [Abdelaziz Bouteflika, Beverly Cleary, Carlos Menem, Dai Davies*, Dilip Kumar, Gerd Muller, Larry King, Leon Spinks, Orlando Drummond, Prince Philip, Rush Limbaugh, Sarah Harding] GcReptile (1453 points) 12 hits [Alcee Hastings, Andrew McDonald, Anne Buydens, Donna Britt, Jory Post, Josh Evans, Gerd Muller, Leila Meecham, Mike Miller, Rodion Rosca, Sarena Li, Yoo Sang-Chul] That still leaves GCreptile more than two hits from the leader, but that will drop down to below two in 2 days time. It might only take one hit as GC still has the joker to play - none other than gay porn star Jessie Colter. I will leave it up to you to inform me if Jessie snuffs it in the next two months. I am not googling "Jessie Colter gay porn" again! Although if my wife accepts my deathlist activity, then anything is probably fair game!

Today, perhaps. Tomorrow you might feel differently. It is safer to stay non-committal on the pronouns!

28th October 2021, due to complications of Parkinsons and cancer, apparently. That's why my low level Times account is for, clearly, checking obit dates! Can't help on Bettin, though he was one of the main roles in one of the biggest kids films in my childhood - The Great Mouse Detective, oft repeated on TV at the time - so I am stunned there hasn't been a single reference anywhere of note.

A small bit of housekeeping to be done here. Firstly, Clifford Rose is a hit for Bibliogryphon. I see that there are proper QOs for him now, but as gcreptile pointed out, we have very low standards around here, so the earlier fringey mentions would have been fine. Lots of points for Biblio to leap him/her up the table, from second last up to the dizzying heights of sixth last. Bibliogryphon (380 points) 3 hits [Clifford Rose, Mark Eden, Murray Walker] However, even by the incredibly lax standards of this pool (we really will take just about anything), I can't accept what is out there for Val Bettin. There is this: Voice Actor Val Bettin Dies at 97 – The Animation Commendation However that says that the only sources for his death are his Star Tiger page and his FindAGrave page, and that no news story has mentioned his passing. Not enough is my judgement. However I find it hard to believe that no-one else will pick up on it if he is actually dead. He wasn't a complete nobody by all accounts. But for now, the 6 points on offer will have to wait! Meanwhile, a definitive date of death for Andrew McDonald is still eluding me. The Guardian helpfully published an obituary, without actually bothering to mention when he died: Andrew McDonald obituary | MPs' expenses | The Guardian The Times also gave him the obit treatment, but it is behind a paywall Andrew McDonald obituary | Register | The Times So for now, we must wait.

Gavan O'Herlihy reportedly dead: https://www.irishecho.com/2021/11/death-of-irish-actor-gavan-o-herlhy Apparently died last month. Chuck Cunningham in Happy Days and many credits, I'll pull out Death Wish 3, Superman III and Never Say Never Again. Was in Star Trek: Voyager and you know what that means - Scavvy Hunt miss.

Annette Chalut (wiki), member of the French Resistance during WWII and a survivor of Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, dead at 97 (in German). Along with Francis Huré, Hubert Germain (who just got a Telegraph obit), and Justus Rosenberg, that's four WWII resistants who had English Wiki pages dead in less than a month. 13 survivors from my Wiki watchlist: Maria Mirecka-Loryś (b. 1916, wiki) Monique Hanotte MBE (b. 1920, wiki) Epaminondas Stassinopoulos (b. 1921, wiki) Jacques Borker (b. 1922, wiki) Selma van de Perre (b. 1922, wiki) Valérie André (b. 1922, wiki) Jacqueline Fleury (b. 1923, wiki) Madeleine Riffaud (b. 1924, wiki) Pirro Kondi (b. 1924, wiki) could be dead? Walkiria Terradura (b. 1924, wiki) Adolfo Kaminsky (b. 1925, wiki) Robert Hébras (b. 1925, wiki) Simone Segouin (b. 1925, wiki)

Absolutely. He had two of the biggest hits in 1967 with "Release me" and "The last waltz", both went to No. 1 in the UK for 6 and 5 weeks, respectively.

A note on his wife. Patricia Healey had suffered from Alzheimer's disease for around 10 years before dying of COVID-19 complications in February 2021 at 85 years of age. They had been married 56 years. I'd say his clock is ticking. If not DL worthy at least included in some DDP. As I have pointed out previously. When married that long, spouses don't tend to stick around once one passes. Especially a sudden death like COVID-19.

Worst. Bond. film. ever. With lots of confusing and rather pointless scenes like the one above. Anyone involved in that monstrosity should get in the sea IMO.
