Tumor removed and they told me it was non-malignant. Post-surgery ICU was an...experience with the stablizing my BP etc, but I was not in much pain and felt safe having nurses in the same room 24/7. Worst part might've been having the cannulas, catheter and other stuff removed. In the next bed there was a 70-something woman who'd had a more dangerous tumor (meningioma) removed and got out of ICU (and out of hospital) before me, and even asked the nurses if the other patients are okay. Standard hospital room was much more "boring" but tricked me into getting up and walking around. I'm out of hospital now, left with a gnarly scar with around 20 staples, slight occasional dizziness, back pain, a pair of hospital socks etc...hoping I won't get any complications. Thank you all who wished me well.

Apologies for the bump, but I feel it is worth noting that as of today Jimmy is now the longest lived major Presidential candidate. Beating Alf Landon, the Republican candidate in the election of 1936, who lived until 1987 aged 100 years and 33 days. The only other somewhat notable Presidential candidate to reach 100 is Strom Thurmond, a third party candidate in the 1948 election, who lived for 100 years and 203 days.

For me, Christmas officially begins when @Spade_Cooleyposts about some Venezualan regional tiddlywinks champion who is terminally ill and is absolutely 100% guaranteed to get a QO, in the hope that some gullible DDP player will take the bait.

Read an article on the BBC explaining why Trump won. Not difficult - of course you vote for the guy who offers simple solutions to complex problems. Who wants to vote for the ones who tell you it's complicated? It's a great gig too, because they're so complex that your simple solutions can't work but then it's all the other side's fault if only you give them even more power, then the simple solutions will work! Who cares that deporting millions of migrants will cost trillions of dollars? Or that it will deprive numerous American industries of their workforce? Just deport them! Who cares that the only way to end the Ukraine war is to cut off funding and let Putin have everything east of the Dnieper river (for now)? Who cares that the 2°C target is going to be obliterated when it's only your grandkids and great-grandkids who will suffer the consequences and you get cheap oil here and now? Who cares that you're going to finish that border wall you claimed you'd built 4 years ago (and Mexico paid for)? Who cares that the President is a sexist authoritarian demagogue when the other side are radical lefties (who are barely left of centre in reality)? Turkeys voting for Christmas, and the billionaires are delighted.

Interestingly enough, he shares the exact same birthday as his friend Quincy Jones, whom he celebrates it with usually. So a very serendipitous article to be posted when Quincy died.
