gcreptile 10,966 Posted August 12, 2023 Henry Dickerson is a hit for two, as posted elsewhere. I wonder if I can now compensate for Henry Kissinger surviving the year, which is a -11 penalty (which only dawned on me last week).

An Fear Beag 1,535 Posted August 12, 2023 An update was promised, and an update you shall get, one death at a time. First up, we have the passing of literary genius Milan Kundera. I did actually read The Unbearable Lightness of Being when I was younger, and it made about as much sense as the scoring system of this pool!. Probably took me about as long to read it as it does to update the pool and all. I have not managed to discover who attempted to cheat the scoring system by adding a "Personal Life" section to Kundera's Wikipedia page after his death, but it goes without saying that no bonus points will be given for that one. I have now gone through the Wikipedia pages of all remaining picks and noted who has a "Personal Life" section or not (there's 2 hours of my life I won't be getting back!), so whoever was trying it on the last time, I am watching out for you MILAN KUNDERA +2 Base Point +2 Deathlist Alumnus +2 (Hidden Bonus No. 5: +2 if pick is the only DDP pick to die on that day +3 (Hidden Bonus no 8: " +3 if they were born in a country that does not now exist" -1 (Hidden Bonus No. 11: "-1for each time a pick has remarried") +8 TOTAL POINTS Hits for: Bibliogryphon (Wildcard) Book Captain Chorizo (Bonus +1 Position 21 on list) Funeralopolis (Bonus +1 Position 15 on list) Gcreptile (Bonus +2 Picture posted) MSC The Old Lady (Bonus +1 Position 16 on list) The Unknown Man (Bonus +1 Position 26 on list) (Breaks run of hits in order) Toast Tracey (Wildcard) ThereWillBeDeaths7 (Bonus +1 Position 26 on list) Wannamaker Despite Kundera receiving many awards, only 1 photo seems to exist of him actually accepting one, preferring to send his translators in his place. That translates into 2 bonus points for @gcreptilewho increases their lead again at the top of the table. @Bookfittingly uses Kundera to rise into second place, while @Bibliogryphon had Kundera as a wildcard to make a leap up the table. The other person to have Kundera as a wildcard was @tracy for only their third hit of the game. The first two were Ben Ferencz and Al Jaffee, and do you know what those three have in common? Yep, they were all born in the 1920's, meaning a 3 point deduction, doubled for the wildcard! @ThereWillBeDeaths7last had a hit with Frank Field (born 1923), giving a 2 point deduction. You don't have him, but you do have Bob Barker, who would however only a -7.
An Fear Beag 1,535 Posted August 12, 2023 And so we move on to the man with one suit, Tony Bennett. Only picked by 8 players in this pool, he was more popular in the DDP, giving him a bonus for being Drop 40, and also popular with The Committee, giving him the DL Alumnus bonus. Sadly for his backers in this pool, he was also quite fond both of himself, giving us a -3 point "bonus" for multiple autobiographies, and of wives for which he gets -2 for his 2 remarriages. The upshot is a measly 3 points on offer. TONY BENNETT +2 Base Point +2 Drop 40 +2 Deathlist Alumnus +2 (Hidden Bonus No. 6: "+2 if the picks Wikipedia page has a “Personal Life” section") -3 (Hidden Bonus No. 10: " -2 if the pick has written an autobiography. -3 if they have written more than 1") -2 (Hidden Bonus No. 11: "-1for each time a pick has remarried") +3 TOTAL POINTS Hits for: Book (Bonus +1 Picture posted) Liz Lemon (Bonus +1 Picture posted) Mrs Pedro (Bonus +1 Hits in order) The Unknown Man Toast (Bonus +1 Picture posted) TQR (Bonus +2 Picture posted) Tracey (Wildcard) ThereWillBeDeaths7 The only person to have Bennett as a wildcard was @tracy for only their fourth hit of the game. The result is a score of -2 for their Tony Bennett hit @ThereWillBeDeaths7follows up their Kundera deduction with a Bennett hit, giving them a -3 "bonus" and a score of 0 for the hit @Book, @The Unknown Manand @Toastalso followed up their Kundera hit with a Bennett one, giving all three a -2 "bonus" for hits born in the same decade. Mrs @Pedro67 gets her second hit of the game, but remains in second from last position, gazing upwards at @Pedro67, but with @Gooseberry Crumbleperched beneath her. Just what you need to start off The Lords Day - a update on people he didn't care enough about to save. And it's another popular one, George Alagiah, selected by all but 4 teams. This is one of his 14 Emmys in that category, but the date is not given. My extensive research suggests that this is from the 34th Primetime Emmy Awards in 2007. These Emmy photos are going to be difficult to assess, because similar to Tony Bennett, Bob Barker appears to be wearing the same suit with the same red handkerchief in the pocket at all of the Emmy ceremonies! And you can't tell by the look of his face, as the older he got, the younger he looked! For example, this is Bob receiving a 1996 Daytime Emmy award. 1

I will definitely accept that, as I am fairly certain it is a different year to those posted previously. However, I am also almost certain it is from 1995, not 1982. I am guessing you got it from USmagazine.com where they have that picture beside the section on him winning an Emmy in 1982. However they have just inserted random pictures into that article, regardless of the timeline. 1
