Thoughts on the 2025 Deathlist

Recommended Posts

Great list, but surprised to see James Whale dropped, especially after his recent hospital stay. But I can see at least 20 of these going in 2025. Good job!

Thoroughly questionable ones here.

I do think the Flack drop is the worst one. She's 88 with ALS. All around though, this seems like a great list.

I know she isn't doing good at all, but did feel sad to see Julie Goodyear on the new list.

John Williams is a great addition I did keep saying he should be on

While I am surprised Tom Baker and Willie Nelson are no longer on

And it feels the right choice to have David Attenborough back on

Looks like every name born in 1930 or earlier were kept on. They make up 19/25 of the carryovers.

I feel like 2024 was an aberration and this list is kind of back to normal.

I'm afraid that these names are going to be miss, they could have dropped Duvall and Wagner instead of one of them, but basically a good list, I liked several debuts and comebacks here.

It is an old list but considering my own offering this year, I'll stay quiet...

Not a bad list, some risky drops and some weird returnees/newcomers but it will probably be a return to form, no Yarrow is bad but tbh his declining health wasn't really mentioned in any major news sources.

VERY old names this year - only 3 are under 80 years old (Nolan, Assad and Weinstein), and the median age is 95 years old (!!)

Risky drops, strange moves overall, several misses to come BUT all I care is Eva Marie Saint and Frankie Valli being included

I'm surprised to not see

Tomiko Itooka - 117

Inah Canabarro Lucas - 117

Ethel Caterham - 116

Might as well have them at this point if the strategy is to just pick really old people.

I will say that the list will probably get double digits, but I can't see it doing extremely well.

Angie Dickinson, Kim Novak (Ill? Not ill? Not been keeping up on this one), Armani, Clive Davis and Hal Linden are classic committee pick names but all feel like the next 3-4-year bedblockers. Weinstein and Asma are Durst types - "seem ill, feel risky" but hopefully Durst repeats too.

Duvall and Routledge are the worst keeps, neither of them are known to be ill and both are still quite active. Meanwhile, I can not see Flack or Brokaw making it to 2026

Otherwise decent list with lots of good new picks.

I'm disappointed they keep placing Robert Wagner on the list. He's famous and old, but has no known ailments or diseases, unlike Denis Law, Tom Brokaw, and Ted Turner.
