Crispy Creme...

Had he died in a fire this would have been extremely crass, and funny. But he didn't.

A recognized hero, S/Sgt. Jeffrey Wayne Bray, 49, died Monday at Columbus Regional Healthcare in North Carolina.

You might not know his name, but his actions in Somalia in 1993 earned him a Silver Star —and those actions were later portrayed in the movie, “Black Hawk Down.”

Bap Kennedy dead at 54

F**k, he was one of my biggest dead certs for next year that is at least somewhat obscure.

That was quick!

Such an obvious sign that the "scrambling season" has begun with November.

These things happen, but there will be others yet.

I feel there'll be a Angelil/Diski case too somewhere, that of someone known to be ill, but who suddenly goes downhill rapidly in late November/early December. Probably staring us all in the face too. (That's a gut feeling, not a hint!)

tbh if seven-ten people currently on my longlist don't die between now and January 1st, that's a sign I've not done my research properly.

Just been reading his wiki page and this stood out for me

Lonely Street, Serendipity and Moonlight Kiss (2000–05)[edit source]

After returning to the UK, Kennedy briefly managed an Elvis impersonator named The King, and was the producer for The King’s album Gravelands – a collection of songs by other deceased artists performed in the style of Elvis Presley.[5] The record became a firm favourite of John Peel and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.[5]

Clearly one of ours

I swear to Christ we had a thread for TV poker players etc, but damned if that search box is finding it.

This lady wouldn't have quite fit in but it was close enough.

Betty Ann Kennedy, a five-time world champion and member of the ACBL Bridge Hall of Fame, died Oct. 30. The 86-year-old lived in Shreveport LA. Kennedy, who held 16 NABC titles and 14 second-place finishes, was known for her genteel Southern charm, an attribute that earned her the Sidney H. Lazard Jr. Sportsmanship Award in 2011.

Kennedy was inducted into the Louisiana Hall of Fame in 1993. She is the second woman to be so honored.

She played bridge w Omar Sharif so maybe only our second bridge player ever? I almost put this w Sharif thread just for that factoid.
