All in jest, squire…only joking

Far more important….did you know Charlie Williams was actually a professional footballer who turned to comedy when he retired.

I once met someone who saw one of Williams' final games - for Skegness Town - and the guy told me Williams' late career football was so skilfully challenged he had already started his comedy career! He was the kind of defender who specialised in stifling  skilful forwards, if memory serves me correctly he turned out well over 150 times as a pro and scored only one goal.

I wonder if I write to him enquiring about his health whether I will get a free parker pen in return?

After aging quite a lot looks a bit different. Dickie on the other hand you'd still know it was him straight away

Dickie looked old 50 years ago. He's now outlived quite a lot of the players he umpired.

The greatest talk show host ever.

I feel sorry for the younger generations, left with the likes of Norton who are just arse kissers.

Ta-ra sir.

If I've counted correctly, that's 8 candidates now who've gone since Carter started receiving hospice care.

Shame. He was incredible at what he did; he managed to get to places with his guests where very few interviewers could, by getting the balance between inquisitive and amiable absolutely bang on.

He really was the greatest talk show host, his interviews with the likes of Billy Connolly, Muhammad Ali and George Best to name but a few were legendary and must watch TV. A true great, although sadly not surprising he has looked awful for some time. RIP Parky.

I almost posted yesterday that a hit would be coming soon.

When I saw 1 min on the 2023 names and a notif on the 10th death topic, I knew someone died. I remember someone here talking about a « game » in which before checking on the forum Who died, you Google the names you think are the most likely to have died. I googled Woodward, McGowan, Barker, Greenspan and even Newhart (left out Carter since I receive notifs frome the Carter Center) but I would never have thought it would have been Parkinson. Didn’t even know Who he was and completely forgot he was on the list.

Parky was Toast? Shame, I'll miss her slightly acerbic wit.

“Don’t do it, Parky”

”Come on Parky. Jump, Parky. Jump”

”Cone on now, be sensible Parky”

Are there any professional Yorkshiremen left?

Boycott.
