Ever think about the reliability of the article and not when it was posted?

Bet your granddad was something special young Lardy. Have a good blub and then up and raise some mischief on his behalf!

That looks like the same reports that happened after the LAPD incident and not a new incident. Besides, why would his family lie about his death when they announced it?

That was a classic, not because it was only posted by the national enquirer, because it wasn't, but it was confirmed by some family members and so many top dead poolers picked him for 2014. Of course, as of this post, he's currently still alive...

Solly Hemus, MLB player for the St. Louis Cardinals (1949-1956, 1959) and the Philadelphia Phillies (1956-1958), has died aged 94. He went on to manage the St. Louis Cardinals from 1959 to 1961, and was one of the last living MLB player-managers. For those interested, the remaining few MLB player-managers are: Frank Robinson (b. 1935) Joe Torre (b. 1940) Peter Rose (b. 1941) Don Kessinger (b. 1942)

I saw Mr. Lynne in concert at Wembley Stadium, London in June he was looking pretty fit to me and put on a brilliant concert. He's not a kick in the backside away from being 70 but I have seen much younger musicians that don't have the stamina he has, I won't be adding him to my list anytime soon. (Apologies for the rubbish photo!)

Take care, LB. Funerals are never much fun. Everyone reacts different to the finality of it but there's nothing wrong with emotional reactions. Not at all. I was fairly crisis-level composed when my grandad (my great hero) died many years ago, looking after his kids and my gran and mum and making sure everyone had copious amounts of tea at hand. Then at the bloody funeral it just sort of hits you. That's life. Doesn't take away or negate all the fun, or funny times.

This reminds me of maryports comments as to how many old iconic footballers the committee could justify having on the list.My instinct is about 5 next year :Stiles (If he is still alive) Wilson Peters Muller and Bowles although Roger Hunt Greaves Banks St John, McNeill ,Chalmers ,Swan Gazza Ray Kennedy Paul Madelely Sansom Armfield Bonetti the Charlton brothers George Cohen and Worthington would all be good 2018 DL picks

Dylan - heavy smoker long-term Lynne - a strange character in many ways and a few people reckon him autistic but not a noted hellraiser or hard liver. I'd say he'll see many of his peers out.

I bet you would recognise quite a few of his songs though.

I'm hoping for Clive James, Doris Day, and Stephen Hawking to return for next year's list.

Visited a shrine last week, looked reasonably well both mentally and physically. Looks like a waste of a pick. At least for this year. http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/japans-emperor-visits-shrine-ancient-korean-settlers-49971308

I have been a (former) regular poster here since 2008. I have not created any new thread here in over a year and am now making one for someone with medical problems and enough fame (in my perspective). If you have issues with the mass-posters here, don't fucking take it out on me when i post a thread once a year.

What are you on about? Stanley Kubrick is one of the most acclaimed and well remembered directors of all time. At least The Shining is very widely well known today, Dr Strangelove has a 99% on rotten tomatoes (my AP world teacher even showed us that after we took the AP exam), and A Clockwork Orange is very often considered one of the most controversial movies of all time. In short, Kubrick is very well known today even with these three movies plus 2001: A Space Odyssey (which probably is the most well known out of these 4, but that doesn't mean the others aren't well known). I should probably add Full Metal Jacket as well, but I feel that the three other than 2001 certainly cements his status as an important and well known director.

Well, the films 'Paths of Glory' and 'Spartacus' were essentially 'star vehicles' for Kirk Douglas, who had almost full control of the entire projects and walked away with the lion's share of the loot. Stanley Kubrick was largely a puppet 'director' in those cases, although he certainly took a major role in the cinematography. SK made only a dozen movies in his career, and never really became a 'team player'. Only '2001: A Space Odyssey' is widely remembered now. Stanley died shortly after completing the first edit of the truly awful 'Eyes Wide Shut' in 1999. I can't say he's missed.

Just a heads up since last time it happened it was announced in this thread. Mad Hatter posted rather gruesome drawn porn in two threads (Famous For Being Ill, Stan Lee) and is enjoying another month vacation as a consequence.

I've been watching a television series on the history of Hollywood and I learned a bit about Mr Douglas from it that has increased my respect for the bloke. Firstly, he was the first producer to openly acknowledge a blacklisted screenwriter in the credits of one of his films, helping to kill off McCarthyism (prior to that, blacklisted writers had their works used on a few rare occasions but they used pseudonyms.) Secondly, he helped Stanley Kubrick get his break in Hollywood, supporting his first effort.
