STATS AND FACTS Not only is every name picked by at least one participant, but no one has been unanimously picked - just like how paddyfool's randomly generated team was the only one to have Bracknell and Vervoort, it was also the only one to exclude Queen Elizabeth II. Every death will thus cause help and harm for teams, although there's certainly a chasm between the potential impacts of Leah Bracknell and Paul Gascoigne! Using the cumulative point totals of each pick, the people's choice to survive the Inverse Dead Pool is as follows. The Donald tops the list, unsurprising considering among the 50 names he's the youngest teetotaler with no terminal diseases (unless you count narcissism as one). Who knew Dick Van Dyke was Satan? 1. Donald Trump 747 2. Queen Elizabeth II 713 3. Paul Gascoigne 707 4. Dick Van Dyke 666 5. Angela Lansbury 581 6. Betty White 549 7. Jimmy Carter 466 8. Terry Jones 432 9. Henry Kissinger 416 10. Doris Day 404 11. Aretha Franklin 386 12. Little Richard 365 13. Olivia Newton-John 363 14. Val Kilmer 344 15. Stan Lee 333 16. Stephen Hawking 323 17. Bob Barker 292 18. Prunella Scales 271 19. Prince Philip 267 20. Robert Mugabe 266 21. Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI 241 22. Olivia de Havilland 215 23. Vera Lynn 214 24. Valerie Harper 196 25. Linda Nolan 191 In the grand tradition of Seve, Aherne, and Chuck Berry, which of the above will turn out to be landmines? On the other hand, the ten most fecked according to the views of our collective: 1. John McCain 6 2. Leah Bracknell 13 3. Nobby Stiles 21 =4. Charlotte Rae 23 =4. Stefan Karl Stefansson 23 6. Marieke Vervoort 24 7. Tessa Jowell 28 8. Fernando Ricksen 30 9. Greg Gilbert 39 10. Rev Billy Graham 43

"Mark E. Smith was one of the most unique musicians that I have ever heard." Remember that 'unique' means 'the only one of its kind'. So avoid using phrases like 'one of the most unique'. You can't qualify 'unique' - it either is or it isn't. In this case, you might consider words like unusual, extraordinary, singular, unconventional ....

That big photo in that article (not the bottom photo Sir Creep posted) I think is probably the photo he meant to post, and on that photo, he absolutely does look fucked. He won't see 2019 imo, even with the pancreatic cancer in remission, cause I think his health has been effected by the cancer battle he originally had...

And the door slams shut. We've got our largest IDP yet with a robust 36 participants. Good luck to all and to those who are picked. As collating the "who picked whom" stats was easy to do and we've got quite a few fact fans on here, a stats corner will be coming here in a brief moment for the first time since 2011.

One bottle of vodka a day. The God that was Richard Burton would be asking questions. That is merely breakfast.

You've joined the listaholics on here, charon, clearly: all downhill from there. PS The button on the reply bit next to the emoticons is bullet point list. Quite easy to hit by accident.

Go see him if you can. We saw him in Norway several years ago. The band played almost 3 hours - at that time it was called something like Willie Nelson and family on the road again.

Personally I do play for fun and accept that others take it more seriously. Don't think you'll ever find someone who hasn't made some form of fairly significant contribution on my teams, and I do avoid those FFBI/other picks simply because I have no connection to them. Having had a brother who was seriously ill, who we were involved in some major fund-raising for treatment for and who has sadly died, I can honestly sympathise with such people and their plights, but don't see such people as "competition fodder", no matter how interested others become in their situation. So, it's just the famous for being famous, infamous or indeed making a contribution I can identify with that make my teams. Because I'll be sad when they go and maybe have an interesting titbit or two to share.

I say this every year, but this was certainly the best Inverse Dead Pool yet, and it's been a pleasure to host this wonderful dead pool for another year. Unfortunately, it will also be my last year as host, and as such we'll need a new host to carry this dead pool forward in the upcoming year(s). So I'm passing the baton on to @Death Impends, who I'm sure will make a superb host and continue to keep this game alive. Thanks to everyone who competed, I hope you'll all join in again for 2018. Happy New Year and good night.
