4 pointsNowhere in my post do I insult you, I don't even claim there is anything wrong with what you have written. You wondered why you get in all these arguments all the time? This is why.

4 pointsJust twigged that Roberta McCain's death ends a 60-year streak of there being at least one living parent of a major party US presidential candidate. This timeline can be condensed to four names (though there are other examples during this timeframe, such as Barbara Bush): Rose Kennedy (1960 election - January 22 1995) Euterpe Dukakis (1988 election - April 2 2003) George HW Bush (2000 election - November 30 2018) Roberta McCain (2008 election - October 12 2020)

3 pointsYou two need to get a room somewhere to release all this pent up sexual tension. Perhaps you could set up a thread 'Quim v Kenny' or summat because if Trump comes on here he's going to think he's the most popular twat in the world whereas actually 90% of the thread is you two having a love in.

3 pointsI just thought you should all know that I have left deathlist. I am not prepared to stay on a forum where I do not have the freedom to contribute fully so I have been left with no choice.Goodbye.

2 pointsIt was an observation, not a criticism. And there was no indication that En Passant didn't know what it meant. He's not the one who appears to be "retarded".

1 pointYou clearly didn't read and properly understand what he wrote. There was nothing "condescending" about it. He merely observed how the passage of time brings changes to the language. Words acquire additional meanings, and new words are invented for new concepts. "The generational divide. In 1985 or so when some of us were teens, and some were already adults, this would have been gibberish. Crop only related to plants in a field, and memes would have meant reaching for a dictionary, the dead trees kind. At least 'your' hasn't changed."

1 pointÂngelo Martins, a centre half for the great Benfica side which won the European Cup in 1961 and then retained it the following year, has died aged 90. Known more commonly by his first name, Ângelo spent the entirety of his professional career with Benfica between 1952 and 1965 - amassing 231 appearances and scoring 3 goals while also collecting twenty caps for the Portuguese national side between 1953 and 1962. The central defender collected seven Portuguese titles, five Portuguese Cups and two European Cups with Benfica. His death means that there are now just four survivors of Bela Guttmann's great double European Cup-winning Benfica side, defenders Mário João and Fernando Cruz, as well as winger José Augusto, who played in both finals while another winger, António Simões, only played in the 1962 triumph. Of that 1961 final, there are still three survivors from the defeated Barcelona side, defender Martí Verges (86), Brazilian forward Evaristo (87) and Luis Suárez (85). Perhaps [un]surprisingly, many of the Real Madrid side that lost in 1962 are still alive. Goalkeeper José Araquistáin, defenders Pedro Casado (82), José Santamaría (91) and Vicente Miera (80), midfielders Rafael Batista Hernandez, known as Felo (83) and Pachín (81) and forwards Justo Tejada (87), Luis del Sol (85) and the legendary Paco Gento (86). The only ones from that side who have died are arguably the two biggest names, Ferenc Puskas and Alfredo Di Stefano. https://www.slbenfica.pt/pt-pt/agora/noticias/2020/10/11/clube-benfica-nota-de-condolencias-homenagem-e-eterna-saudade-angelo-martins

1 pointVivienne Johnson is the widow of the late (and apparently formidable) barrister Brian Higgs QC (1930 - 2016), who's most notorious case was defending Robert Thompson, one of the two ten year olds found guilty of the James Bulger murder in 1993, at his appeal hearing in 2001. It looks like Johnson gave up acting not long after marrying him.

1 pointMe in 2008: WTF? John McCain's mom is still alive? Me in 2017: WTF? John McCain's mom might outlive him? Me in 2018: WTF? John McCain's mom outlived him? Me in 2019: WTF? John McCain's mom outlived another child? Me in 2020: WTF? John McCain's mom actually died? Yep, yet another forum darling centenarian dies this year with Roberta McCain. markb4 picked the seemingly eternal political matriarch, receiving 25 base points plus 10 extra for uniqueness, getting him 35 in total.

ETA: Oh and for @The Quim Reaper this is where I have no problem with the 'evolution' rather than the 'Americanisation', of language mate. Two of the three words do not mean, or have additional meaning, to what they did 30 odd years ago. No problems with that. Winningest still sucks the big one though.

1 pointI’m sorry you feel that way. It’s easy to assume you’re trolling, because that’s what you do on here. Giving you the benefit of the doubt now, as suicide is something only to be taken very seriously, please seek help. Talk to someone. Samaritans (116123), people you know, anyone. I’ve PM’d you.

1 pointhonestly, I wish her a few more birthdays, I would be really sad to see her go this year, she is such an icon, a classy woman, one of the greatest actress of her generation. I found her phone number on the french phone book but I never had the guts to call : I feel like this is something I'm gonna regret one day…
-
1 pointUtmost respect for her. She’s basically the only person left standing who was famous in the 1930s as an adult. She’s pretty much the last famous person of an entire generation. It’s quite an achievement. Sadly no one is immortal and one day soon it will be her last but what an innings she has had.
