4 pointsHarsh. Whatever he did/didn’t do, both were intelligent women who made the decision to use heroin. He can’t be held responsible for their choices.

3 pointsMy aunt just posted this on Facebook with the following caption: The photo was taken on a day-trip from London to Hastings in 1954. My two grandmothers and an aunt are the first three ladies on the far right next to the gentleman (possibly the coach driver). I just love it and it always brings a smile to my face. So many lovely characters.

3 points2020: covid, covid everywhere, more covid, not seeing family, worst work year ever due to covid, government helping everyone else then sending out emails and texts about their financial support that wasn't available to gig economy folk on a weekly basis, covid, UK government being a shower of feckless cunts at every opportunity, covid. Also coronavirus. Old pal dying of covid within 2 days of getting it, aged 40, by far biggest shock of year. On a celeb note, Shad Gaspard. Poor sod. Don't know the Google thing but my annual video is focusing on Diana Rigg and Ian Holm too.

3 pointsFormat of Entry EDIT: An email has been sent out to all the email addresses on the DDP Database with an Excel sheet attached which is the preferred method of entry - all information required for entry of a team can be submitted on that form. For anyone reading this who wants to enter this year and is happy to do so by excel but has not received the email with the excel form attached if you PM me with your email address I will send you the form. FOR ANYONE WHO WOULD PREFER NOT TO USE THE EXCEL FORM THEN IF THE ADVICE BELOW COULD BE FOLLOWED THAT WOYLD BE APPRECIATED. I need to turn all your entries into this format (names used for example purposes) Previous Team Name (if name has changed) If Theme Team What is Theme? Team Name: XYZ are going to Die in Next 12 Months Prince Philip John Smith Trevor Jones Ian Roberts Andrew Brown Colin Black Tony Collins Shirley Gray Anne Thrush Deborah Peters Sean Meakin David Higginson Lisa Purves Barbara Hall Simone Yates Frank Baker Barry Crowther Boris Decker Gary Hills Bethany Richardson Steven Morrison Leroy Hanover Ranjit Singh Points to Note No numbers - every single number I have to delete. No email links - every single link added beside a name I need to delete (see next post though). No extra information about who the picks are - every single additional piece of information added I need to delete.(see next post though). Don't put a heading in for Reserves - just leave a one line gap - again I just need to delete this. No Joker in brackets - the joker is the pick at the top of your list - why - because if you write joker I have to delete. Only then do I have the names in the format when the database will recognise them. If everyone submitted like that I reckon I would save about 4 hours (30 seconds an entry) and maybe double that. A small difference for each of you making a huge difference to me.

2 pointsThis is this time of the year again when you start looking back to what you've achieved this year and what you went through. For some years now, I have this tradition of writing a "zeitgeist" of my year. But what is a Zeitgeist ? It's a German term which means "spirit of the time" and is used especially by Google to refer to its "Year in a search" movie which recaps the year in a 3 min video since 2010. In this tradition, I have done the same thing since a few years now, summarizing my own personal success of the year, my favorite events, historical events which marked the year, historical deaths etc… I propose to you this thread so that everyone is able to look back at 2020 and express his opinion of the year. So : what were the personal and historical events that marked your year ? what have you done so far through the year ? What did you go through ? Who were the deaths that shocked you the most ? And another question : who, according to you, are the personalities who will go in the "In Memoriam" section of Google's Year In Search 2020 ? In my opinion, I think this will be RBG, Maradona, Connery, Kobe and Kirk Douglas. edit : hope my English isn't too bad, correct me if I made any mistake, it would help me to improve

2 pointsShit. That didn't take 3 minutes so with the spare 2 mins and 59 seconds I could do a song and dance routine if you like? PS your English is fine Lafaucheuse. C'est en fait beaucoup mieux que mon français

2 pointsI have now checked every celebrity in our DDP database if they are still alive or not. As you can see on the previous page, I am left with the impression that almost every remotely notable person that died in 2020, has been picked by us before in some year.

2 pointsNow I do agree with providing sanitary wear for those that can’t afford it. It’s an absolute fucking disgrace that these are taxed (in England at least) as ‘luxury’ items. There is nothing luxurious about teenage girls having to stuff their underwear with the inner cardboard tube of a toilet roll because they can’t afford sanitary towels. I’d much rather see my tax spent on Tampax than Jacob Rees-Mogg’s latest expenses claim, and I’m desperately trying to think of a ‘stuck up cunts’ joke here.

1 pointWelcome to Derby, where you'll never leave... Somehow its December, which means it is now time to start drawing up your teams for the 26th edition of one of the oldest running deadpools in the world. That's right, the Derby Dead Pool, or DDP as its also known. As with 2020, the 2021 DDP will be co-hosted by the team of msc, @Grim Up North and @gcreptile. The emails are going out (apologies again for any gremlins), and so its only now to say the DDP is open for entries! RULES For the hard of reading, a reminder of the four rule changes 1. DONT PICK FFBI PEOPLE. Those who ignore this will be mocked mercilessly. 2. UNIQUE PICKS are now worth 4 points instead of the old 3, to reward those who score with knowledge or punts on notables everyone else ignores. 3. THEME TEAMS need to be a theme team ie they cant be "all men" or "all DDP survivors from last years top ten". Esoteric is OK, taking the piss is not. 4. QUALIFYING OBITS - All from 2020 plus Last Word, Daily Record, Scottish and Sunday papers, STV, UTV, Economist, UK Yahoo, Radio Times, Economist, City AM and The Independent. Otherwise, good luck one and all!

1 pointIt's fast, it's furious it's f***in' good fun. Teams of 20 topplers posted on this thread or PM'd to MPFC will be collected into a masterlist to provide a carnival of carnage, the counting of which goes live in the first second of 2021. Points aplenty pour into the scoreboard until someone snags the stupendous total of 2021, at which point the event that used to be the fastest deadpool in common useage (until MPFC started something faster!) slams on the brakes and the lucky winner is duly given metaphorical back-slaps and allowed to claim a prize worth about a tenner (though tradition thus far dictates this turns into a charitable donation)*. Closing date for entries is midnight on 30 December 2020. And...we've sauced a top celeb to sit in as master of ceremonies! In it to win it this year are... An Fear Beag - af Annami - an Banana - ba Bibliogryphon - bg Book - bk CalebH - ch Captain Chorizo - cc Chileanway - cw The Daredevil - td Deadsox - ds DeathByArsenic - da Death Impends - di Eesti - es En Passant - ep The Engineer - te Etushispushingupdaisies - ed gcreptile - gr Gooseberry Crumble - gc Great Uncle Bulgaria - gb Grim up North - gu Guy from the Future - gf JoeMoneypenny - jm Joey Russ - jr Lard Bazaar - lb Lychian - ly markb4 - m4 Maryportfuncity - mp Mr. Whit - mw msc - ms nantonian2013 - nt The Old Crem - oc The Old Lady - ol Perhaps - ps The Quim Reaper - qr Redrumours - rr Sean - sn Toast - to The Unknown Man - tu Yorkshirebanker - yb Top talent aplenty in our list of previous champions: 2009 - Raskolnikov 2010 - Nobody, I mean f***in' nobody, reached the winning points total 2011 - DDT 2012 - Spade Cooley 2013 - DDT 2014 - Death Impends 2015 - MSC 2016 - DDT 2017 - Death Impends 2018 - MSC 2019 - Phantom of the Midway 2020 - RadGuy 2021 - An Fear Beag * To be precise, every winner bar one has opted for a charitable donation and it's now tradition that MPFC provides evidence of said donation once victory is declared. Feel free - should you win - to opt for consumer goods, mind!

1 pointRush Limbaugh is not hosting his radio program today. Usually he announces he will be absent. That wasn’t the case for today, but there’s a guest host. It can’t be long, and thus buttresses my claim that Rush should be celeb #1 DP should he make the starting line. SC

1 pointIt’ll be between Davies and Whale, for the simple reason that these were my pick and my reserve respectively before I came on too late and shat out Ono’s name in a panic.
