Where's the "no more deaths" option?

This year's DDP has 514 teams in it (all now entered into database so text pad can go away for another year :-)) Still 643 unrecognised celebs in the entries since Christmas to wade through and other bits and bobs. For those of you that have picked slightly iffy notability picks msc and reptile are wading through these this week but this exercise won't be complete until the weekend at the earliest I would imagine so you may still be advised that some of your picks have not been accepted and that your subs are in play. Ok, now I have had the night to calm down, and as Finale has so eloquently said everything I would have wanted to say in his last ever, ever, ever, cross my heart and hope to die, post (), I don't feel the need to go on the offensive again. However, I will say it quite clearly here, in case any newbie with no fucking sense of decorum gets the wrong idea: I am staking claim to stewardship of the Hares pool. The basis of my claim is twofold. Firstly, when Deathray first got banned and someone needed to put the scores together, I offered to do it unless anyone else fancied it. Likewise, when no-one was offering to run the 2021 version, I said I would do it, unless a more established forum member wanted to claim it first. On neither occasion did anyone else want it, so as far as I'm concerned, that gave me the go-ahead to take it over. Secondly, Deathray (and his many alter egos), who has run the game for 7 years, has said that he is okay with me running it. Now no-one can ever "own" a game - it is in effect owned by the people who play it. However. my understanding of forum etiquette is that once a game begins, it remains in the possession of the person who started it, until they pass it over to someone else, or they disappear off the forum and someone else claims it. As both of those things have happened in this case, I now consider myself in charge of the pool. As I said when I took over initially, it won't always be done on time, and may not always be done accurately. But it will be done. And if I need someone's help in doing it, then I will fucking well ask for it. And some of you out there better be fucking well ready to give it. And when I decide that I don't want to do it any more, I will throw it out to all over-enthusiastic neophytes who can scrap among themselves for it. Unless in the meantime, Deathray is allowed back on the forum, and declares a wish to take over again, in which case I will pass it back to him. If anyone does feel the unbearable urge to "help", feel free to keep tabs on the large number of obscure names on the masterlist, and feel free to point out when any of them carks it. But leave the rest of it to me.

If it is any help. As a former organisor of this game, i know how much work counting up all the scores is. I was really surprised how fast you got them out with this many entries. I often took days just organising all of that (last time even weeks). Also the first couple of years didn't have nearly as many entries as now a days. You are commiting and investing a lot of your spare time into a passion project and i think this should be pointed out and admired. Thank you for this, Book.

The first ten days/two weeks of the year, especially in 2019 when TMIB wasn't around to help, was nearly enough to put me off the DDP/deadpooling/the internet/human interaction for good.

Personally I dislike him because he is a lying, spoilt, arrogant bastard . He is incapable of engaging in reasoned debate when challenged and resorts to sacking those who dare to give him advice which might be contrary to his deep seated prejudices. Does that mean that last years final can be counted as a true squonking - a defeat so bad that the recipient doesn't take part the next year . I suppose a pure squonking (a golden squonking?) means that the person is beaten so badly that they leave the forum, never to be seen again, but this must be the next best thing! I am only jesting of course. I'm sorry to see you wont be participating this year DI. Winning it last year was all the better for having beaten a giant such as yourself in the final. I am sure that even a half arsed effort this year would see you progress very far, but I understand why you would feel the need to give it your all. The cup tends to suck you in - you can start off with a casual team, but after a few rounds, the will to stay going means you end up spending far too much time scouring the depths of social media for any hint that some obscurity is on their way out. As for this years competition, count me in. And none of this "I'll make up the numbers" bullshit. I'm back, baby, and I'm back to win! If any of you fancy getting your grubby little mitts on the Cup, you will have to go through me first. Bring it on.....

Adventures in DDP hosting this weekend. Last year I had to look up the new names on the dreaded Not Gone Just Forgotten team. That's Reptile's joy this time. I had to look up the annual female porn star team instead. Might have mentioned this to mrs msc. In hindsight, I could have phrased it better than "I've got four more porn stars to deal with, I'll sort them out as quickly as possible." I think that's made her year so far, she's still laughing!
