2 pointsLee Aaker, famed when he was 11 as the 50s child star of "The Adventures of Rin Tin Tin", has died at 77. He passed away alone and unclaimed... and was listed as an "indigent decedent". https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.jioforme.com/lee-aaker-dies-the-adventure-of-the-famous-dog-rin-tin-tin-star-was-77-years-old/341177/amp/ Here with Geraldine Page, John Wayne and Ward Bond in "Hondo" (1953): I really liked this show when I was a little girl... (when I watched the reruns... I'm old... but I'm not Betty White )

1 pointNone of his sister's children but Bernhard, Hereditary Prince of Baden is the oldest son of Maximilian, Margrave of Baden and a grandchild of one of Philip's sisters. Maximilian is 87 and probably can't attend due to covid or age-related problems

1 pointStandards? In this corner of the forum?!! I think you are on the wrong thread! But a slightly more serious point she is famous.A celebrity ? Well not in the strict and commonly understood sense of the word although the meaning gas diluted over the years to be more broad and encompassing. I did hesitate and have a debate in my mind if to post about her but concluded she was more famous than some of the reality tv stars posted on this thread and her media noteworthy nature nudged me towards including her . I would say I included her more because of fame recognition level rather than meeting a definition of celebrity .

1 pointLooks like three German relatives have made the cut. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9471993/Prince-Philips-close-family-Germany-isolating-Ascot-funeral.html Presumably this means some of the older or more distant names suggested (Princess Alexandra, Lady Pamela Hicks) might not be coming?

1 pointSeveral live musicians planning to pay tribute to a dead one - Mayall at 87 is the oldest, a few others (Wyman, for example) close behind. Not grabbing me but someone more motivated could - like - take this one for the team, or summat

1 point@Octopus of Odstock last one from me tonight. This one is a lead... a bit of a wildcard but definitely merits exploring. On Ancestry Family Trees, there's this: Jack Taylor b. 24 Jun 1924 Bradford, Yorkshire, England d. 6 Feb 1997 Montreal, Quebec, Canada (aged 72) Now, this is the only c. 1924 Taylor birth in Bradford I could find in the trees section that was either an exact or approx match. Problem though – Jack, not John. Now on the face of things, this would look like we've nailed him down, but I checked the birth index and the above individual was actually born in 1924 as "Jack Taylor" (rare for those days as Jack was almost always exclusively a nickname, not a birth name). Still worth considering though – did his name get bastardised down the line in League records, books etc somewhere? I can't find any old newspaper clippings about the 46-47 Bradford City team that mentions a Taylor. Is it possible someone put 2 and 2 together and got 5 i.e. saw "Jack" and just assumed he was actually "John"? Now, here's a photo of him (poor quality, sorry) after he emigrated to Canada. If you could pull out an old Bradford City pic of that specific team (again, easier said than done) then you may be able to rule this lead out or verify it that way. I imagine pictures of these guys are pretty scarce?

1 point@Octopus of Odstock Another one here. Frederick A. Sharpe b. Jan 1924 Norwich, Norfolk, England m. Emily M. Watts in Apr 1944 Hull, Yorkshire, England d. 2020 Hull, Yorkshire, England (aged 95–96) This time, no mention of being a footballer in the family tree, but likely our guy. Worth contacting Wrexham F.C.? Surely they would have heard something? This could be verified by the GRO (as his middle name will appear there) when they finally bother to put all the 2020 records up! When that will be, I don't know. I last asked them 6 months ago and they said they didn't know when they'd be live! OR... there's the Probates. Now there is a record in there for 2020 for a Frederick Arthur Sharpe, but some reason the probate itself was registered in Liverpool. It has a date of death of 9 Apr 2020. I'm not sure if the probate would hold the age or DOB? But if Hugman's wanted to, they could call the GRO and try and place an order of a 2020 death certificate by phone. I think you can do that even though they're not online at the moment?

1 point@Octopus of Odstock, a rather bland family tree here has this: David D. Gray b. 1923 Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland d. 1983 Halifax, Yorkshire, England There's a comment bubble at the side which says "josie66mod Football: David Gray famously played for Bradford City FC in the 1950's." No other info provided but most likely accurate. Here's the problem in verifying it – the GRO Index doesn't have the 1983 records (d'oh!). It starts from 1984... and on FreeBMD, this record doesn't come up either, but that's likely because FreeBMD has incomplete records for the years missing on the GRO. In order to get the full date for Hugman's, they'd be best getting in touch with the registry office responsible for Halifax and request a copy of a certificate. That should hold a middle name, possibly a birth date/place, and will give a full date of death.

0 pointsAh, that reminds me of the time I forwarded on an email from a senior executive at my work, specifically pointing out the amount of "content-free waffle" contained in his address-to-the-troops type of message. I hit send, and half a second later, realised I hadn't filled out the email address of the person I wished to forward it on to. It took approximately one Ohnosecond for it to dawn on me that I'd originally hit REPLY instead of FORWARD before adding my generous insights on the content of his email. I never did get any response, but I've since heard the term "content-free waffle" being used by some of our management team. Come the revolution, I'm gonna be first against the wall. Given that there are over 5,000 employees in the organisation I work for, I'm glad I didn't hit REPLY ALL.
