3 pointsAnd at just 50 names, every DL spot is precious. Sticking a bunch of healthy nonagenerians (Brooks, Van Dyke, Lansbury, QEII) hasn't done DL much good this year and the same rule applies (albeit to a lesser extent) to centenarians. Kirk Douglas and Olivia dH were on the list for years before they finally kicked the bucket. Nehemiah Persoff would be a better shout IMO. Had health issues in the past and hasn't made appearances/been pictured in a while now.

1 pointSeen in a car, looks like he has (again) gained weight. Apparently he was also smoking a cigar in the car, as he still hasn't given up smoking and drinking. I should make a proper list of every time this man has been hospitalised/"not long for this world"/had some else kind of tragedy, as it's impressive how he just somehow keeps on going Late 1950s/start of the 1960s Loiri starts using tobacco as a teenager. 1960s, year not mentioned Loiri starts using cannabis and alcohol 1969 Nearly fell to his death during the filming of the movie Pohjan tähteet. 1970 Injured while playing football, got his first near-death experience. In ICU after a fever and fat embolism following the incident. 1971-1972 Slips on his own bodily liquids and has another near-death experience after hitting his head, fiance Katja Peiponen (birth date unknown, died 2001) attempts suicide and aborts their child. 1970s, year not mentioned Loiri starts using more alcohol, goes bankrupt, addicted to "pills" Wife Mona introduces him to mescaline. Travels to Turkey, uses hashish he bought from the street. Assaulted atleast two people in the 1970s. 1977 Mona Loiri dies in car accident with her new lover. Later the same year, Loiri attempts suicide with pills. Put into two different mental institutions in the late 1970s. 1980s, year not mentioned Loiri starts using Psilocybe semilanceata/psilocybin mushrooms with a colleague. Loiri assaults actor Ville Virtanen. 1995 Loiri's father Taito Loiri (1911-1995) dies. With Spede Pasanen, in 1995 2001 The shocking and sudden death of friend and colleague Spede Pasanen (1930-2001) affects Loiri a lot. Early 2000s Loiri starts gaining more and more weight, being around 150kg/330lbs at his largest 2005 Hospitalised with salmonella, another near-death experience. Loses a couple of friends/colleagues, Ere Kokkonen (1938-2008) and Tapio Hämäläinen (1922-2008) 2010 Hospitalised after "serious health problems" Diagnosed with sleep apnea and hypertension. Nearly died of brain asphyxia at some point in 2010, also suffered some kind of a diabetic shock and was found walking half-conscious in a hotel corridor, having used alcohol, cannabis, sleeping and pain meds. Yet, he's still alive and plans on appearing on a tv show next month. September: Now somehow looks much better than in decades. November: In an accident 2022 Quietly reaches 2022 and age 77 to the great annoyance of people who had betted on him dying in 2021. 1 pointAye, I shared that story hereabouts a few times starting many years ago - friend of a friend as it was (and it came from someone linked to Kings Reach Tower back in the day when the NME was headquartered there), I'd believe that, frankly. Also worth noting that drug abuse is widely misunderstood. Many of the die young casualties bought the wrong stuff from the wrong people. Richards was already a wealthy individual with a lot of corporate money riding on his success when he became a smackhead. The point being the corporate connections ensured he got pharmaceutical grade gear when he was on tour so he tended not to shoot up impurities. In that regard he's something of touchstone for medical arguments, especially those that - rightly - point out the hypocrisy of criminalizing the cult favourite Class A stuff when the massively lethal options of alcohol and tobacco are widely available.

1 pointYou've heard the story of Keith Richards drinking from a Jack Daniels bottle during an interview, going to the loo, and the journalist discovering the Jack Daniels bottle was actually full of iced tea then? All part of the PR legend. (There are exceptions but you tend to find they have massive support groups who stepped in to prep them up long enough to release an album/single/whatever before they relapsed again.)

1 pointOkay, okay, Russell was admitted to hospital with ‘heart trouble’, so technically may not be a breach of the rules (just the spirit of them). I’ll allow Bill Russell again. Except I won’t, because no fucker knows him. Oh dear. So unfair, isn’t it? Another couple of blinding entries, both from American friends of ours. So regarding Creep, as we all know, it’s not the country, just the cunt.
