I really wish the BBC wouldn’t call them “former Nazis”. That isn’t true, they were ppl forced to comply against their will. They were not party members. You phrased it better than they did by calling them “the Third Reich generation”.

Long time John Williams music editor and film score composer in his own right Kenneth Wannberg reportedly dead aged 91: https://musiquefantastique.com/genre-film-music-news/rip-ken-wannberg/ IMDB: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0911194/ I'm not going to mention his credits, the article and IMDB is enough. And a name probably unfamiliar to most of us.

Sad death but not unexpected. Here with award-winning turf writer Bill Mooney (1947-2017), both had cancer at the time. Alphabet Soup had multiple cancers if I remember correctly, survived melanoma in 2017. Had been ill for a while and 31 is a grand old age for a horse. The earliest/oldest Breeder's Cup Classic winner is now either Cat Thief (1996-, won in 1999. Not sure if alive) or Tiznow (1997-, won in 2000 and 2001) There's a list of horses currently at Old Friends here. Here are the ones with a wikipedia page: Kentucky: Silver Charm (1994-), Thornfield (1994-), Sarava (1999-2023), Commentator (2001-), Birdstone (2001-), Awesome Gem (2003-), Nobiz Like Shobiz (2004-), Eldaafer (2005-), Rapid Redux (2006-), Game On Dude (2007-), Little Mike (2007-), Soldat (2008-), The Pizza Man (2009-), Work All Week (2009-) and Stormy Liberal (2012-) New York: Zippy Chippy (1991-2022)

Times obit for Aussie socialite and conservationist John Rendall, who has died from COVID-19 aged 77. One of two gents who famously bought a lion cub called Christian (wiki) from Harrods in 1969 (yes, you read that correctly!!) and then released it into the African wild. A year later, he went looking for it to see if the lion would remember him. It did, and this was the reaction:

I'd add Antonio Resines. Somehow improving and out of ICU after being there for a month with bilateral covid pneumonia and respiratory failure and also has a plethora of other health issues.

Volodymyr Virchis found dead at age 44 from hanging. Was one of the "former Soviet bloc fighting out of Germany" gang that dominated the heavyweight division in the mid-00s, beat all the usual British jobbers flown over to lose to him (Julius Francis, Michael Sprott) before his career got derailed by a mixed decision loss to Ruslan Chagaev.

He's actually made it 23+ years after a near-fatal stroke, so for him to still be able to attend the AO in person is great. I do agree he looks a bit worse than a couple of years ago, but he could still have quite a few more years in him yet.

That response might’ve been more because of how shitty Ed Sheeran’s music than anything else

I am going to be 54 as are Kylie and Jason - we were all born in one amazing 5 day spell in 1968. Kylie is the eldest, Jase the youngest with me the problem middle child still struggling to find my path to stardom.

Purple House Press announcing via Facebook the death of Roger Bradfield (wiki), American children's writer, illustrator and cartoonist, aged 97–98. His illustrations look very similar to that of Sir Quentin Blake if you ask me.
