How about Ethel Kennedy? She’ll be 95 next year. Famous enough?

Ah yes, I remember well the circumstances of that by-election.

I’d like to see Yoko Ono, Willie Nelson, Vanessa Redgrave, Imelda Marcos and Bob Newhart return in 2023. I doubt Pope Benedict, Joanne Woodward and Linda Nolan will make the 2023 starting line but should they somehow, they really should return.

Excellent because I specifically said there were none. So you haven't missed out :). @Gooseberry Crumble may have been responsible for their creation. One is like the bastard child (there's a clue there too) of the very worst parts of soap opera's (which is some feat because to me that's every single moment of every one of them) combined with the results of some godawful reality tv non-entities sticking it up one another. The other is more of the same with a title that means I get a little bit of sick in my mouth every time I see it because somebody added a post. I'm sure I've ranted about them. Still I suppose that may only be actually within them, so if you have the good sense to avoid them completely you'd never know.

Thank You @Toast but that has put the cat firmly amongst the pigeons Jackie/Jack Robinson a veteran of the 1948 London Games was a unique hit for @BuffaloPhil but he was also his sixth hit in a fourth category which means he only needs a UK Cabinet Minister to win. However he shares three of his cabinet minister picks with @msc and by both metrics (uniques and total number of hits) Buffalo Phil will claim precedent so there are now three players who can all finish in the same way (one in each category) but the number of picks that will finish the game only increases by two. 1. Vasily Borisov (to) 2. Irene Camber (to) 3. Gordy Giovenelli (to) 4. Roy Hattersley (mc) 5. Douglas Hurd (bp) 6. Nigel Lawson (mc) 7. James Mackay (bp) 8. John Morris (bp) 9. Koji Murofushi (to) 10. Bob Richards (to) 11. Bill Rodgers (bp) 12. Norman Tebbit (bp)

I am guessing which year did Joni Mitchell appear on the Deathlist wasn't one of the questions?

Lots of new photos from the Mayor of Toulon on his Twitter account : he came to visit her for her birthday, as he does every year. She seems quite fine physically I think, we’ve seen people of 80 looking like corpse for ages. Still amazed by Tanaka and her. Despite saying that she wishes to « join god soon », randon also said that « it’s possible for her to beat Calment’s age ». Will see how it turns out. don’t remember how Tanaka was at 118, was she healthier than Randon, anyone remembers ?

QUAILFYING OBITS Just a quick question about Qualifying obits folks. Does this BBC page count as QOs for ... Bamber Gascoigne Norma Waterson Claire Tomlinson Thich Nhat Hanh https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m00146j2 The DDP rules states "(Last Word, the death must be written down)" Now the names of the 4 people mentioned IS written down, and the programme IS an obituary programme, but it is NOT written that they HAVE DIED. In my view this page SHOULD count but I would just like some clarification from the powers-that-be please. Thanks.

Yes, it's a pity that we can't "hide" threads.

He's still in pretty good condition. He looked 20 years younger at the Kennedy Centre Honours a few months ago.

If this (excellent idea) is implemented, I’d also suggest upping the daily reaction quota quite a lot.

An Iowan, who was believed the be the oldest living state wrestling champion in the country, passed away earlier this week. Paul E. Hassman of New Hampton, IA, died at the age of 108 on Thursday. Hassman won the high school state wrestling championship in the 155-pound class in 1933. He and his teammates led New Hampton High School to its first individual titles and first team title. For those across The Pond, Iowa is the hotbed of wrestling in the U.S. The universities (Iowa, Iowa State) are always winning the college championships. It’s a bit of an oddity but there it is. Anyway, thought it should be mentioned. SirC

She has declined, but still very impressive lucidity for nearly 118.

I expect if she gets covid as a result she'll survive it: covid has got milder over the last 2 years and she'll have had every vaccine shot she's eligible for. That said if she did pass on as a result it would be quite the downgrade from the Battle of Bosworth when it comes to heirs overthrowing the monarch.

Still, it won't be so much of a worry compared with her terminal pancreatic cancer.

Interesting one, at least I found it interesting. Harvy Blanks, an actor who appeared in several productions of August Wilson plays making it to Broadway in 2017 as Shealy in the play Jitney and also had some TV roles is being reported dead: IBDB: https://www.ibdb.com/broadway-cast-staff/harvy-blanks-406762 What was interesting to me is that in 1969, he was one of some players on the University of Washington Husky football team who were thrown off the team by the coach Jim Owens in what can probably be described as blatant racism. Owens had asked for a pledge of personal loyalty and when he didn't get it from the black players he essentially got rid of them. At some point a player's picture was removed from the wall and replaced with a picture of an African with a bone through his nose. Some players were reinstated, Blanks wasn't - possibly because he was sidelined anyway with a broken foot. All the players thrown out, including Blanks, were inducted into the Husky Hall of Fame only in 2021. No age on his IMDB/IBDB profiles, but Clustrmaps indicates there was a Harvy Blanks resident in Denver, aged 73.

I haven't got the patience to listen to podcasts. I could read a transcript of it in a fraction of the time. Same goes for all the videos on the BBC website - as soon as I click on an item and see it leads to a video or audio thing I move on. Give me a couple of paragraphs to read instead. As for Joni Mitchell, I cannot stand her shrill voice. It's like a squeaky blackboard eraser.
