11 pointsThe Toms They Are a-Waning Tom Smith, or Tom Smith (rugby union, born 1971) to give him his full name, has died of cancer at the age of 50. I don't know much about rugby, but I suppose it must need unions like any job, so credit to this guy for his organising efforts – no doubt a great inspiration to those Amazon workers. ✊ 66.66667% of this year's hits so far have been Toms. Your host will bravely take this opportunity to come out as a Tom, and I can tell you this is causing deep concern in the Tom community. What a waste that modern DDP fame requirements probably disqualify me from picking myself. If I'd known when I started playing that I didn't have the option of eventually bowing out with a "SICK Deadpooler Predicts Own Suicide By Cop" headline, I don't think I'd have bothered getting so invested in the first place. No respect for creative flair in this day and age. Inverse Dead Poolers showed little faith in Mr (rugby union, born 1971)'s survival, but this early in the game, it's still enough to shake up the scrum. YoungWillz and Philip are dropped from the 0-points squad, but worst off is a blindsided Hell, who is cast down to the deep fiery pits of "just above Neobrakeon". GAINED TOTAL =1. Death Impends 0 =1. 3 pointsLuis Ramos, Uruguayan player from 1966 World Cup who is probably more known for his 2 daughters who are both professional models and passed away due to anorexia, is said to have passed away on March 14, 2021 due to Covid-19. Only report I found is this https://www.balonazos.com/fallecio-el-mundialista-uruguayo-luis-ramos-quien-fuera-jugador-de-estudiantes-de-merida/ Wiki and Uruguayan Football Association has not yet declared him dead yet.

2 pointsThe interest here being that Buddy died so young and Larry outlasted him by so many years. I also think that unless you are going to disallow them at the beginning of the game you set obit rules and let the media attention make the judgement. I totally understand and respect your opinion and I could argue that under other circumstances but I think it is an interesting hit albeit one I would not have selected

2 pointsCasilda Benegas is 115 today. Here's a new article: https://www.lacapitalmdp.com/casilda-benegas-cumple-115-anos-y-es-la-mas-longeva-de-la-argentina/amp/ She apparently eats a lot of sweets, "catches a cold every once in a while but always recovers" and doesn't take medicine.

2 pointsYou can still play. There is no limit. Cut off date for entries is next Thursday. I just started the Masterlist with everything I had at close of play yesterday. There have been several additional entries. Feel free to join in.

1 pointI looked into this and the editor is a Swiss personage who has edited other footballer Wikis. But there's nothing in any Serbian media and as he was also an international coach, I would have been surprised if nothing was noted at any point. 2011 could well be true but I can't find anything. These days I tend to err on alive until proved dead even if most of the pre 1930 footballers and some of the South American footballers from 1958 are likely gone.

1 pointYep. Arthur Fowler did the same thing in Eastenders. He stole the Christmas fund to pay for a wedding with the idea that he could pay it all back before anybody found out. I assumed that Maxwell was more intelligent. He wasn't.

1 pointI also have no skin in the game and would have used the case law of William Gates Snr to come to the opposite conclusion

1 pointSo this is the Salmon Mousse roundup, as the reigning DDP champion gets three hits on the trot in their push for the double. Kate Hendricks Thomas' QO took a little while to come (even though she managed a C-SPAN mention due to being named in some US political gumf the day after her death), but Defense One came through. "Doc Kate" was a former marine who took what she learned in the military and span it into a career of TED Talks and numerous publications. However, something else she took from her time in the field was carcinogen exposure from burn pits in Iraq, leading to her death from breast cancer at the age of 42. gcreptile, Joey Russ and Banana all join Salmon in getting points from her final demob. A priest for over 60 years, Father John Catoir founded the St. Jude Media Ministry in 1995 in an effort to spread the good word. It was most famous for its short, 30-second broadcasts in the commercials of various Westwood One stations, informing listeners: "Don't be discouraged. You're a good person and the Lord loves you very much." gcreptile and Salmon Mousse's opponents may do well to heed those words, as they both grabbed another three points here. "Big Cat" Rayfield Wright was an NFL hall of famer who won two Super Bowls as offensive tackle for the Dallas Cowboys. At 6'6 he'd originally set his heart on a future in basketball, but was persuaded to switch to the gridiron by coaches at his college. He was named to the NFL Team of the Decade for the 1970s and, unsurprisingly for an NFL player of that era, he had early-onset dementia. A stroke in late March speeded up his demise, and Sir Cunto joins Salmon Mousse in the three points. 1 pointI have no skin in this game and consequently rarely look at this thread but isn't the widespread disallowing of Taylor Swift's Mum the precedent here? See also the universal condemnation of the 'family of the famous' DL pick of Bill Gates' Dad 2 years ago. People on these lists are supposed to be famous. He isn't.

1 pointThanks for the update @machotrouts I do like the new format for the results table with the points gained and colour coding for the player who picked them It is looking less bad for me as I didn't pick June but there are still plenty of non-scorers who are competing for the title
