That must be a fake post. I've received an email from the Governor of the Bank of Nigeria. Apparently, she's got over a £ billion hidden there but he needs my help to get it out. However, I'm a bit worried that he won't send the 20% commission to my Paraguayan bank account in the name of Adolf Goering.

The way to help people plunged into fuel/food poverty by this cost of living crisis is clearly to scrap the 45% tax rate for those earning over £150,000 and bin the 200%-of-salary cap on bankers’ bonuses. Nice one, Chancellor Khazi.

Oh that's sad, and a little unexpected. I mean, such a young death is always unexpected, but he wasn't exactly on the radar. They haven't yet said why he died though, doesn't have to be overdose/suicide. The season 4 premiere was yesterday, coincindentally (?).

Mary Kay Place, the notable American actress, director, screenwriter, singer and songwriter probably remembered for her extraordinary portrayal of country music singer Loretta Haggers in the cult classic television series "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman", is 75 today. She won an Emmy Award for her role. Juan Martín del Potro, Argentine tennis player winner of the U.S. Open in 2009, against Roger Federer, and a bronze medal at the London Olympics, after beating Novak Djokovic, in 2012, is 34 today. He also won a silver medal at the Rio Olympics, in 2016. Del Potro is the only Argentine tennis player to win two Olympic medals.

Which also means the Duke of Kent is the only remaining descendant of George V who was alive while he was. George V died January 1936, Princess Alexandra was born December 1936. Meaning the Duke is also the only remaining descendant alive from the reign of Edward VIII.

The streaming service situation, especially in the U.S, infuriates me. You are telling me every sport is on a different service, some of which still restrict by location? Not to mention they don't have recordings you can watch later, unlick cable which has the ability to record programming. They all continually raise their prices, they all continue to incorporate advertisements throughout the service, and they all divide up shows/movies to the point of ludicrous levels. Now we have HBO Max with Discovery+ merging and Disney+ with Hulu merging, which may seem positive till you see the new prices! I don't have much faith in humanity in general, but holy fuck. They have ruined what was an amazing concept started over a decade ago. I'm getting to the point of just cancelling everything. It's gotten worse than cable was.

Because my parents are away right now i'm planning to take mum to visit the castle when St George's Chapel is open to visitors again. We last went proper tourist about ten years ago. So would be nice for my mum to be able to pay respects in some way.

Partial mobilization and nuclear threats now. I've been pretty sure from the start of this, meaning the 2022 war, not the whole crisis since 2014, that the Russian efforts to absorb Ukraine will fail, but it's going to take 2-3 years and will lead to a lot of sacrifice (the things that count as sacrifice in the civilized West). I mean I didn't know that Zelensky wouldn't flee and survive, but I was at least sure that the West would support partisan uprisings, that there would be a sort of frontline at the Dnjepr River, that slowly but surely Russia would have to retreat. Now, Russia never got as far and it's looking a little easier than I expected (typing as my now somewhat more expensive gas heating is keeping me warm). But now, we reach a new phase. The question is not whether Russia will lose (they eventually will), but how far they will go to prevent the loss. The shortcut would be to only "lose" Putin. But right now, I do feel somewhat uneasy.

Seems DL-y to post the novelty cash-in song about him by "Angela & The Fans", which was actually Alma Cogan on the downswing of her fame and, as it turned out, dying of stage 4 stomach cancer:
