8 pointsWell, here's my personal opinions Drop (16 I consider less likely to die than the 25 others, 1 the one out of these the most likely to die, 16 the least in my personal opinion) 1. Stanley Baxter (97 next year but I haven't heard anything on his health yet) 2. Noam Chomsky (94 in December but no concrete evidence he's in ill health. Simply sounds and looks absolutely horrible and ancient) 3. Ted Kaczynski (I still don't completely believe him) 4. Denis Law (Mixed dementia and quite a 50/50, could be the wrong time to drop him but there are better picks) 5. Emperor Akihito (Past health issues and heart failure diagnosis this year but I doubt he's going anywhere anytime soon) 6. Dick Van Dyke (One of the healthiest 97-year-olds living, there are better picks) 7. Cleo Laine (Soon 95, but nobody has said anything about her health) 8. Desmond Morris (Forum users say he sounds fine, no known health issues. And looks good for his age in that video from May.) 9. Sandy Gall (See Morris. Seemingly a very healthy nonagenarian.) 10. David Crosby (health history and massive drug user, but if JLL is still alive Crosby probably has a few years in him. Seems to also have exaggerated his health a bit) 11. Jean-Marie Le Pen (Old asshole who survived a stroke this year, but in too good health otherwise) 12. Dick Cheney (Long long health history but now seems annoyingly healthy) 13. Linda Ronstadt (Ill but seemingly not as ill as previously thought and still physically doing quite well) 14. Shane MacGowan (You can't compare him to anyone, such an unique health history but just seems boringly stable) 15. Michael Gambon (Rumored dementia, but no concrete evidence of anything atleast yet) 16. Silvio Berlusconi (Not ill, seems like a wasted spot IMHO) Return (8): 1. Linda Nolan: Terminal cancer and multiple cancelled gigs in recent months. 2. Benedict XVI: Massive health history and incredibly frail. 3. Pervez Musharraf: Reported in June to have terminal cardiac amyloidosis when he was gravely ill and on ventilator, wheelchairbound early this year. Seems to have stabilized somewhat (he's still alive) but needs an experimental drug to live. I would like to see him on the list of he makes it to 2023. 4. Joanne Woodward: Confirmed to have end-stage dementia, 92 years old now. 5. Liza Minnelli: Very damn frail with a health history. 6. Willie Nelson: Might look great currently, but has a long health history, emphysema etc and had a rough covid. And will be 90 next year. 7. Ali Khamenei: Very debatable one but now 83, recent surgery, rumored cancer and now a risk of getting killed too! 8. Vanessa Redgrave: Emphysema and other problems. Some new possibilities 1. Rolf Harris: Won't survive, but if he does, should be put on the list. 2. Mahathir Mohamad: 98 next year, Asian political giant with serious heart problems. 3. George Alagiah: Cancer sufferer now with a tumor on his spine. 4. Sidney Cooke: 95-year-old has been in frail health for ages 5. Manmohan Singh: Former Prime Minister of India. Suffers from serious heart problems and diabetes, I recall he was given ten years to live around 2010. Last year he was on his last legs with covid and dengue. 6. Constantine II: Greek King, tons of health problems over the years including strokes, heart attacks, pulmonary edema etc. Too ill to attend Queen Elizabeth II's funeral. 7. David Graham: Doctor Who legend. Severe stroke in 2021 and unable to leave his home. 8. Giorgio Napolitano: Former Italian President, ancient and was in ICU following a surgery this year. 9. Winnie Ewing: Dementia, other health problems for years. People seem very suprised she's still alive. 10. Sonny Rollins: Jazz legend, 92 and has outlived the odds with pulmonary fibrosis. 11. Glynis Johns: Very quiet in recent years and has been in a nursing home for a longer time. 12. Topol: Advanced alzheimer's. 13. June Spencer: 103. 14. David Ogilvy Earl of Airlie: Frail and would be an interesting addition to the list. 15. Katharine Jackson: Suprised she's still alive. 16. Frank Field: Cancer, was reported to be in hospice...last year. 17. Jiang Zemin: Arguable again but I bet on the toad having the ability to die.

3 pointsI used to suggest these things go into a different thread so as to not clog up the I&P thread, but I can see that's a losing battle. Oh well, then: DROP - Kundera, Berlusconi, Gambon, Crosby, Chomsky, Denis Law, Cleo Laine, Akihito, Dick Cheney, Ackland, Whale, Desmond Morris, Charlton, MacGowan, Gall, Baxter (the last 4 the most likely to be kept if others die) KEEP - Van Dyke, Kissinger, Lansbury, Barker, Greenspan, Starmer-Smith, Jimmy and Ros, Bennett, Belafonte, Brooks, Attenborough, Philips, Kaczyinski, le Pen, Jerry Lee Lewis, Delors, Scales, Bacharach, Treacher, Tebbit, Pele, Hurd, Faithfull, Ronstadt RETURNEES - Woodward, Nolan, Benedict, Willie Nelson, Lawson, Liza Minelli, NEWCOMERS WHO FEEL DEATHLISTY - Alagiah, Field, Duke of Kent, June Spencer, Glynis Johns, Eva Marie Saint, David Graham, Patricia Routledge, Joan Plowright, Buzz Aldrin, James Earl Jones, Fay Weldon, Duchess of Kent, Tom Baker, Topol, John Cannan, Pope Francis, Grace Slick, Rolf Harris

3 pointsNo explanation was ever given, but he came back and complained about his electricity bill being really high. (The 105-year-old apprently only has one small lightbulb, the smallest fridge on the market, an HP laptop which "was never very power-hungry", an apple tablet, a mobile phone and a washing machine that he "does not abuse") Anyways, seems to be in great health and is probably the sharpest and most tech-savvy centenarian I have ever seen. Hasn't had a lot of health issues in the past either, except for one one-month hospitalisation in ICU with a swollen gallbladder in 2018. Will be 106 in a month.

3 pointsInterview with Jeannette Charles (wiki). Looking and sounding a little frail in my opinion, she speaks very highly of the Queen and the Royals in the interview. When asked if she had ever personally met the Queen she says "no comment". She turns 95 a week today. Two of the most prominent impersonators of the Queen still with us and both in their mid 90s. One wonders... who will go first... her or Stanley Baxter?

2 pointsWe are now gone past the 3/4 mark in the year, so we are the point where this game starts to get more interesting. 2 or 3 quick hits, or a well-played Joker, and suddenly a player who was seemingly out of it can suddenly leap into contention. To quote NFL Redzone, we are at the witching hour, where wins become losses, and losses become wins. Let's have an update, as we begin the final quarter. One unreported death to kick off with as actress Virginia Patton died on 18th August to give @Famous6Evaa well-needed hit. The following have also been hits since the last update: 14th September: Irene Papas 1st October: Antonio Inoki 1st October: Jack Thomas 2nd October: Sacheen Littlefeather 4th October: Loretta Lynn 8th October: PeterTobin But what does it all mean? Well, to underscore my point, @John Key and @msc have both cashed in October Jokers to enter the top 10 in 6th and 9th respectively. @WhoamI had a third September hit to ascend into 5th place. However, the real story of this update comes at the very summit of the leaderboard, where @Death Impends has retaken the lead. A very familiar position and one which she will not relinquish easily. So, I have packed away the victory bunting and cancelled the open-topped bus for now. Can @Wormfarmeror I get another hit to make this a proper ding-dong battle? Or will someone string together a run of hits to streak out of the pack? Let's see what winter brings! Here is the top 10 - full scoreboard is on page 1. Death Impends (1838 points) 11 hits [Antonio Inoki, Art Rupe, Bill Pitman, Carleton Carpenter, George Perez, Joe Krush, Kane Tanaka, Larry Storch*, Marsha Hunt, Monty Norman, Nehemiah Persoff] An Fear Beag (1798 points) 9 hits [Bill Turnbull*, Jean-Louis Trintignant, Kane Tanaka, Michael O’Connor, Mikhail Gorbachev, Mollie Walker, Olivia Newton-John, Tom Smith, Tom Weiskopf] Wormfarmer (1745points) 13 hits [Art Rupe, Boris Pahor, Everett Lee, Francis Jackson, Gail Halvorsen, Gary Burgess, Guy Lafleur, James Lovelock, Luis Echeverria, Marsha Hunt, Queen Elizabeth II, Susie Steiner, Tom Weiskopf] ZZZ - Boring Predictable Team (1717 points) 11 hits [Bill Turnbull, Gary Burgess, George Perez, Jean-Louis Trintignant, Kane Tanaka, Mikhail Gorbachev, Olivia Newton-John, Queen Elizabeth II, Susie Steiner, Tom Parker, Tom Smith] WhoamI (1498 points) 6 hits [Irene Papas, Jean-Louis Trintignant, Marsha Hunt, Mikhail Gorbachev*, Nehemiah Persoff, Queen Elizabeth II] John Key (1322 points) 9 hits [Bill Turnbull, Christos Sartzetakis, Estelle Harris, Gary Burgess, Jean-Louis Trintignant, Lata Mangeshkar, Mwai Kibaki, Sacheen Littlefeather*, Tom Smith] Joey Russ (1306 points) 9 hits [George Perez*, James Lovelock, Jana Bennett, Jean-Louis Trintignant, Kane Tanaka, Mikhail Gorbachev, Olivia Newton-John, Saturnino de la Fuente Garcia, Tom Parker] The Old Lady (1253 points) 10 hits [Gary Burgess, Jana Bennett, Kane Tanaka, Marsha Hunt, Olivia Newton-John, Susie Steiner, Tom Parker, Tom Smith, Tom Weiskopf, Vic Elford] MSC (1205 points) 5 hits [James Lovelock, Jill Knight, Nehemiah Persoff, Peter Tobin*, Queen Elizabeth II] Kenny (1198 points) 9 hits [Bill Turnbull, Chris Rimmer, Deborah James, Gary Burgess, Olivia Newton-John, Russell Bishop*, Tom Parker, Tom Smith, Tom Weiskopf]

2 pointsAlec Douglas-Home died on this day 27 years ago, aged 92. Douglas-Home would first be elected to Parliament in 1931. He was defeated by Tom Steele in the 1945 election, but beat him in a rematch election in 1950. He inherited his father's seat in the House of Lords upon his death in 1951, and would be its leader from 1957 to 1960. In 1963, Harold Macmillan resigned as prime minister due to health concerns, and Douglas-Home was elected as the leader of the conservative party (defeating Macmillan's wanted successor Lord Hailsham). Four days into his ministry, he renounced his peerage to be elected to the House of Commons. He attended the funeral of John F. Kennedy during his ministry, and in 1964, foiled the plans of some university-aged attempted kidnappers by giving them beer. Douglas-Home and the Conservatives narrowly lost to the Labour Party in 1964, and Harold Wilson succeeded him as PM. He would step down from parliament in 1974, but was awarded a life peerage later that year, reclaiming his earldom. Douglas-Home would make two consecutive appearances on the DeathList, both at number 46, and was the sixth hit of 1995.

1 pointBobby Charlton wouldn’t be a wise drop. It was revealed he had dementia in 2020 and he was probably suffering for a while before it was made public. He wasn’t well enough to attend his brothers funeral in July 2020. Unless he had to miss it due to COVID at the time. Nevertheless I don’t think he should be dropped. Denis Law however is still clearly in the earlier stages. Van Dyke and Attenborough will probably stay on until they die. Even the healthiest 95+ year olds can suddenly drop dead. Another one that was seemingly in good health and died suddenly was Carl Reiner who was actively tweeting and doing interviews months before he died. I’d personally like to see Fay Weldon on the list next year. Sandra Day O’Connor can’t be overlooked either, her dementia must be very advanced now.

1 pointFrom an item in the Grauniad that might disappear at any moment if a queens corgi farts or something, so Immortalising it here. Not an actual death as it turns out, but not for want of trying. Arrest a woman by stopping her car leaving your police cruiser on an unguarded level crossing in the process. Once arrested and checked for guns cuff the woman in the cruiser then languidly search her car for a few minutes until a train arrives and the inevitable follows. This is an absolute gold standard in fuckwittery. There are at least 3 or 4 officers present. I struggle to get my head around the fact that not one of them considers trains on a level crossing, duh, not one. Un-fuckin-believable. Oh, and after that? Carry on searching the car for a gun because that's the most important thing, she might uncuff herself, run back with 14 broken bones, grab that gun and shoot you. Laugh and joke and say "I know you know what you're doing"....Are these two films merged into one? It can't be real, it just can't. Only in America.

1 pointAuthorities in South Carolina have determined that a man who was reported missing on May 5 fell into a plastic shredding machine at a recycling center. Duncan Alexander Burrell Gordon, 20, was last seen working on the machine at Industrial Recovery and Recycling. Coroner Rusty Clevenger noted that the machine had been checked a total of four times and had processed around 60,000 pounds of plastic in the two months since Gordon was reported missing. SC
