Prince (Ƭ̵̬̊) died on this day 7 years ago, aged 57. - Prince was his real name- his fellow musician father, John Nelson, named him after his stage name, "Prince Rogers". - Prince wrote his first song when he was 7 years old. It was called "Funk Machine". - Prince was skilled at basketball. His high school coach called him an "excellent ball handler". - Prince has a shade of purple named after him, named after his "Love Symbol #2". This is what the particular shade looks like: - Michael Jackson's "Bad" was originally going to feature Prince- the latter turned down the offer due to the opening line "your butt is mine". - Prince was nominated for ten Razzie awards between 1985 and 2000, winning three: Worst Actor and Director for Under the Cherry Moon, and Worst Original Song for "Love or Money" from the film. - Prince appeared on TV twice: a Muppets Tonight episode in 1997, and a 2014 episode of New Girl (which was the lead-out program following Super Bowl XLVIII). - Prince died from a fentanyl overdose. He was cremated and his ashes were placed in a 3D-printed urn shaped like his mansion. - Prince sang "1999" 17 years before 1999, and died 17 years after that year.

It's so infrequently we agree about any of this I'd like to take this brief moment to say you are an absolute credit to the borough and locale of (checks notes), Bracknell, Berkshire. Lovely place, and the better for your presence in it. Less amused about this, can't have everything though.

Justice Secretary and Deputy PM Dominic Raab has resigned from the government over the bullying report. Obviously it’s all the lefty lawyers’ fault that Raab was found to have been a 28-carat arsehole to his colleagues. Sunak was handed the report before midday yesterday and, despite his pledge to lead a government of integrity, professionalism and accountability at every level, was as usual too weak to act upon the findings, instead letting Raab get away with an apology-free resignation that hits out at the report. Can’t wait to sack this shower of shit at the next GE.

Just saw this on Twitter and I am trying to imagine what this game would involve. Do the brothers have to try to find some cultural integrity whilst trying to avoid losing their virginity to horny raging fan girls? (I came here to post this because it felt a bit mean for Twitter and I trust the posters here have a more collective and nuanced sense of humour)

I see another of Melon Usk’s rockets has come a cropper. Starship was probably too ambitious a name; maybe go with Airplane or Zeppelin for the next one. Nothing’s gonna stop him now, I’m afraid.

Not so sure about Trump, to put it politely. I could easily see Obama and Bush making it well past 90 though.

[mode = nerd] From that website I glean that 45 people born in the 19th century are still with us. After all, those born in 1900 were also born in the 19th century, for the same reason that the 21st century began on 1 January 2001: there was no year 0. [/mode] regards, Hein We may as well name & shame them, for all the fruit pickers out there. In a jingoistic spirit, I'll have my fiver on Grace Jones to beat the Japs and the Yanks and take a surprise gold in 2017. All that nightclubbing will keep her fit and healthy. 1.
