2 pointsHello There and Welcome, or Welcome Back to those returning, to the second round of the Crazy Eight Dead Pool! This pool is a lot like the Midsummer and Advent pools in that every entrant may choose only one pick, but the winner will be he/she/they who predicts the Eighth death, not the first, so folks with only 24/48 hours to live may not be the best choice here. Credit for this pool's creation goes to GuyFromFuture, I am merely the host, this round in a more official capacity than last time. The Official Rules: 1. Entrants will have 24 hours to submit an entry. 1 entry per person. 2. Entries open on 14th June 2023 at 00:00 BST. First come, first served. 3. No two players can pick the same person. 4a. Banned picks include death row inmates, FFBI, people under the age of 18, and all of the usual no-go areas. Death row inmates, FFBI, people under the age of 18, etc. are eligible to enter as a participant, however. 4b. I am aware that some pools class supercentenarians as FFBI, because they are famous solely due to their age, but this is not the case in this pool, and so they are perfectly eligible to be picked. 5. The QO standards remain fairly low, as long as they are definitely dead, and an obituary, as opposed to a death notice or a social media post, has been published, the hit will be counted. The only exception to this rule is, like last time, legacy.com remains a non-QO source. 6. For legal reasons, killing your or others' picks to speed up the pace of the game or to win is not advised. 7. Hit placement is determined by date of death, as opposed to date of death announcement. However, in the instance that two entries die on the day of the eighth death, whichever death is reported first shall be counted first. 8. In the case that a specific date of death cannot be determined, the date said death is announced shall take its place. As this is my first time running a pool, if any of the more experienced members have any suggestions for additions/amendments to the rules, please feel free to say so. The same goes for any questions, should they be prompted. Hall of Fame: 2022-2023: MortalCaso (Ted Kaczynski).

1 pointSo weirdly, I was just saying that over a smoothie and a couple of slices of healthy toast to Mrs MPFC - I get that Schofield is scathing on himself but his misdeeds aren't a patch on Bojo's, apart from owt else Jennifer Arcuri's advancement in London was way less boundaried than Schofield starting a relationship once his other half had got a job. Oddly, he could learn summat from Bojo's tactic of moving on and grabbing opportunities on offer. Nowt wrong here that couldn't be sorted by getting over it, (metaphorically) growing a pair and redefining yourself (summat like Jamie Vardy's missus who's got more offers after being beaten in court than she had before).

1 pointIt's notable that the statements from the Muslim organizations are along the lines of - no person deserves to be attacked like that, rather than any positive comments or even any comments at all about Rushdie himself. They're scared of being next.

1 pointThank you for deciphering her blog. I tried and failed to get something meaningful out of it lately - hadn't seen the latest entry though. She is only buying time, the cancer is in her bones. But yes, I agree that it's progressing faster than expected. But then I was sure she'll die this year - the obit is the question. BBC or Guardian.

1 pointCook sees this as 'personal' as Palmer was the only person who made a death threat to Cook( and Cook has had umpteen) that was taken seriously. That's not true. Several years ago, I saw Roger Cook (who used to live a few miles down the road from me) driving in his gas guzzling 4x4 AGAINST the arrows in our local Tesco car park. I made a death threat and an offensive hand signal to him. Maybe he will make a documentary about me next. Aside from that, my dad also sold him a car many years ago. Said he was a right cunt. So he lived in Wiltshire???? All makes sense now.....

1 pointAmerican actor Richard Crenna died on January 17 2003. Key quote: "Guilt or innocence, that's not my job. It's my duty to pick up scum-sucking punks like yourself who are accused of a crime. A jury of twelve really stupid people who are easily swayed by rich, fat-cat, slimy lawyers, who'll do anything but tell the truth, will sit in judgment of you. It's as American as a burrito."
