We’re on course to smash through three rounds before the 00’s No.1s finish the first, despite the games starting within 24hrs of each other.

This set of songs is not really setting me alight. If I remember the middle round of 70s No.1s was less than inspiring There are some good songs there but probably just enough to fill a top 5. Shocked that something as original as Loving You got junked so early

Jake Abraham, minor British actor, but Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels among them, has stage 4 prostate cancer: https://www.nationalworld.com/culture/television/lock-stock-and-two-smoking-barrels-jake-abraham-cancer-diagnosis-4220508 Has had it for years, probably, and it's pretty advanced. Undergoing palliative care, but that might sound more dramatic than it is, imo. Not a "weeks left" situation, but also not THAT many years left.

Ray Dorset (Mungo Jerry) made another appearance on The Heritage Charts to introduce a version of Alright Alright Alright. Looked and sounded very good, appears to have put his heart issues behind him for now.. Suzi Quatro also showed up looking exactly like how you'd expect a 73 year old Suzi Quatro to look. Her voice is a bit gone but she can still hit notes I blatantly never could.

Peter III of Russia died on this day 261 years ago, aged 34. - Peter was German- he was born as Charles Peter Ulrich of Schleswig-Holstein-Gottorp, but his mother Anna was Peter the Great's daughter. - Peter's father died when he was 11, and he became the Duke of Holstein-Gottorp. In 1742, his aunt Elizabeth (now the empress of Russia) brought him to Russia to declare him her heir apparent. Swedish envoys arrived in St. Petersburg later that year to proclaim him the heir to the Swedish throne (Peter was a great-grandson of Charles XI of Sweden), but they arrived after he was named Elizabeth's successor. - In 1745, Peter married his second cousin- later known as Catherine the Great. Their marriage was unhappy, with Catherine describing Peter in her memoirs as a drunk manchild. Despite this, they had a son together- the future emperor Paul. - When Peter acceeded to the throne after Elizabeth's death in January of 1762, he immediately withdrew Russian troops from the Seven Years' War and ordered a peace treaty with Prussia. After their alliance was formed, he sent troops back there to help the Prussian attack Austria. - After a six-month reign, Peter would be ousted in a coup orchestrated by his wife. He died eight days after his ousting under mysterious circumstances.

“Anthony enjoyed playing chess and gin rummy and was a master backgammon player. In fact, he twice reached the finals of the World Backgammon Championships in 1966 and 1970. Anthony also won the U.S. National Paddle Ball singles and doubles (with Bobby Riggs) in 1967.”

I'd have hired the North Korean newsreader to ensure the occasion was given sufficient gravitas.

Wonderful. Only in England can a story about a TV presenter having fun on the internet can get so boring that people are left arguing over how many people pay the licence fee. Fine effort.

I used to be Banshees Scream and Tempus Fugit. My current sock puppet account is Paul Bearer, but when I'm in character I don't recognise the Windsor account as a sock puppet account to the other one.

Okay, moving this conversation forward, to recap the stats, we now have only two people alive who were verified to be born in the 19th century (1900) and who were drawing breath at the same time as Queen Vic. These are: Violet Brown (10 March 1900) Nabi Tajima (4 August 1900) Of these, only Violet was one of Queen Vic's subjects, making her the last Victorian. As of today, she is exactly 100 days younger than Emma Morano was when the latter died, making her the 6th verified oldest person ever (Emma was the 5th). After these two clear out, we are on to the Edwardians!
