What's your problem with it? There's no race to get your post in first. A placeholder helps to avoid simultaneous posting. It can easily take a minute to copy a long list, paste it, delete the previous poster's scores, add your own and make the necessary adjustments. It provides a little breathing space, that's all.

As you are well aware this helps reduce all the mistakes caused by cross-posting. Additionally many people use their telephones or iPads and it can be a challenge to post/edit correctly/quickly.

Edit: @MariNisialooks the list is correct now, to include the @CaptainChorizo ‘s choices and your own choices — plus corrections/updates of the previous errors you found. Should be ok now hopefully. Cross posting happens a lot. No worries. Thanks for keeping a good eye out here for all the errors!

Emperor Titus died on this day 1942 years ago, aged 41. - The son of Emperor Vespasian, Titus would serve as a military commander in the First Jewish-Roman War. When his father became emperor in 69, Titus was put in charge of the Roman army, and would capture Jerusalem the following year- notably destroying the Second Temple in the process. - Titus would become emperor in 79. Mere months into his reign, Mount Vesuvius would erupt and bury Pompeii and Herculaneum; he would organize and fund the relief effort for the citizens of the destroyed cities. A fire would also break out in Rome in 80, which destroyed the third incarnation of the Temple of Jupiter Capitolinus. - Also in 80, the Colosseum would finish construction- it still stands mostly intact to this day, attracting millions of visitors to Rome every year: Titus would order the construction of a new public bathhouse to open alongside the stadium. The dedication of these two buildings are Titus' final recorded act as emperor. - Titus reportedly died of a fever, although there are some other theories. One suggests his brother poisoned him by putting a sea slug in his meal, while rabbinic sources claim that a fly flew up his nose and picked at his brain for several years (definitely false considering the lifespan of insects). - Titus would be succeeded as emperor by his brother Domitian, who deified him as his first imperial act.

Sure, I'm bored, why not. 1. Why would Biden "travel[ing] around the United States to campaign and attend[ing] multiple events a day" have such a dramatic effect on his health that he'd actually croak? Just glancing at his schedule this month, he's already made about ~12 flights, and obviously he still attends events. This seems like something that'd be quite unlikely to take him out. 2. Why would Biden be "forced" to travel? I imagine with his age/senility, his handlers have a tight leash on him. If, in the event that somehow this stuff puts him on death's door, they would likely come up with an excuse to make his rallies "virtual"/just trot someone like Jill out. 3. We all know Biden is, to put it politely, not especially sharp, but it's more than possible to be mentally fried and still live for years. In Biden's case, he doesn't seem very physically fragile; there are several octogenarians who would have been crippled by the tumbles he's taken over the years, and his parents were both long-lived. 4. Why should the list gamble on someone who is not outwardly dying and likely being constantly watched by a medical staff when theoretically everyone on the list should be very likely to die? Yes, they do wishful thinking picks occasionally (why else would Cheney have been on 5 times by now) but those are middling selections and shouldn't be imitated. I'd also at the moment be against adding McConnell, even though he's clearly declining, because he's still in the "ailing-but-potentially-not-imminent" phase.

I know some of you won't be glad to see another thread created but I won't stop advocating for her inclusion in next year list. One of the most influential french political figure of the XXth and 00's still alive. In failing health for a decade now, too frail to attend her husband funeral in 2019. Last public appearance was in 2019 when she pronounced a speech for the inauguration of a "Jacques and Bernadette Chirac street" in Brive-la-gaillarde : wheelchairbound, can't even take the veil of the street sign down by herself, has difficulties talking etc (here, around 14min) The only news that we have of her are from her family telling us that she's "on the margins of society" and "very weak". Surely qualifies in term of notoriety and age. The fact she's still alive is a miracle. Her in 2017. Already looked really frail

The 110 club celebrates its 16th anniversary today Weird to think that even Edie Ceccarelli was only a nonagenarian back then Masa Matsumoto should be getting a mayoral visit right about now (She was born exactly 10 years after Emma Morano) edit: there is now a new photo of Masa that has been posted on the 110 club. Her eyes are closed and she’s wearing a mask so you can’t see much of her face but she has not had a huge decline There is a new photo of Okagi on her 114th birthday. She’s not looking as good as before but still quite good for a 114 year old

I think Bardot and Polanski will probably appear on the list in the next couple of years. Anouk Aimee and Leslie Caron would be fair candidates also, but I'm not sure they're in the DL wheelhouse when guys like Trintignant couldn't make the list (although Caron was pretty Hollywood). I don't think Chirac will make the list but it's ok as Delors and Le Pen will probably be on it until the sun explodes.

I won't say he's in the best of shape but considering the list only has 50 slots, there's probably at least 3x that many people in worse off shape who are also high profile and deserve slots over him.

Who doesn't love a scurrilous health rumour? Jean Todt, ex FIA and Ferrari head, perhaps best known to the wider world for his marriage to Michelle Yeoh. Looks thinner in recent photos, sold off his vast watch collection for millions, upset his best friend and no longer speaks to him, married Yeoh one year earlier than planned. Could it be that he married early as he won't make it to next year? Won't speak to his friend as he knows he's on his way out? Raising money for funds for treatment? Or a load of old claptrap? You decide....
