You're probably right, but I'd say it defeats the purpose of a sweepstake if there can be multiple winners. All the other sweepstakes we have don't allow people to choose the same date.

Yeah. I propose a general strike if this doesn’t happen.

While I'm here, film of the week was "The Great Escaper", Michael Caine's farewell picture and Glenda Jackson's posthumous release. While on paper, it may seem like your classic British eccentric tale, told to humorous effect, it was actually much more nuanced than that, touching on old age, the fragility of life, the memories we create, the guilt we carry and the secrets we hide away. Both Caine and Jackson are superb but the supporting cast do a great job too. Yes, it has a little of the classic British caper about it, but it goes far beyond that. An excellent way for two screen legends to bow out.

Vent at trains. I need overground trains to have last trains home after midnight on a weekend because they don't realise people like to have a nice evening or say...an artist runs over and doesn't finish until 11pm. My last train home was at 11.39pm. Thankfully I caught it but it's ridiculous. Now vent at London Palladium: Doors opened at 7pm, allowed everyone in but then didn't allow anyone to take a seat for a while. This caused a crush in reception area and nobody knew what we were lining up for. My friend got claustraphobic and ended up having a panic attack until I got a member of staff to get her some water and let us in early. Things turned ok in the end but it was bad queue management.

Introspection is a great first step. Many, many, many people support Palestine as they want a peaceful, two-state situation, not because they support terrorists. Hamas' terrorist attacks on Israel have done Palestine zero favours. Just have a breather and a proper read before you jump the gun and make an enormous dong of yourself.

Paula Wilcox (recently seen in Upstart Crow) looks great. Brian Murphy is lucid, but definitely looks his age. Seen with a bevvy in his hand at times. Sally Thomsett was caked in make up and looked a bit shaky. She is very active on the Muskboard though.

Are we allowed to pick a date already chosen by someone else? October 24th 2024 looks likeliest as the last Thursday before the clocks go back. The economy might have picked up slightly by then but I doubt it will make much difference.

100-year old deceased man has a nasty surprise left. After he died the house he left was emptied. Someone threw some trash in a fire not knowing what it was. Turned out to be about 20 kilos of explosives. I guess the man had a hobby of collecting WW2 ordnance.

Man shoots wife while installing TV "The Missouri man fired the shot from inside the room following a number of unsuccessful attempts to punch a hole through the exterior wall using other means ... Officials are still deliberating over whether to charge Ronald Long over the death of his wife who, apparently unbeknownst to him, was standing outside the house when he fired the gun."
