I'm a bigger proponent of free speech than most. I don't have anyone blocked on here or in my personal life. People should be allowed to express unpopular opinions without censorship (criticism is not censorship). Having said that, if I were to ever meet Suella, I would love nothing more than to shove a great big long tent pole in her geggie.

While I'm here, the BBC have also compiled an article looking at what a second Trump Presidency would look like. It truly is the stuff of nightmares. And there's not a mention of the fact he could be a convicted felon by the time he takes office. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-67272569 Trump is planning to be better prepared for office this time around, knowing what it takes to force his agenda through and not wasting time getting started. Based on policy positions outlined by groups affiliated to him and pronouncements from The Donald himself, here's an insight into his plans: Flying cars "Freedom Cities" built on federal land free of 'burdensome regulation'. Round-up the homeless and put them in tent camps until their 'problems can be identified' (he'd get on well with Cruella) State school teachers must 'embrace patriotic values'. A universal baseline tariff on all foreign imports. Reinstate the policy that undocumented migrants are held in Mexico while they apply for asylum. End automatic citizenship for children of illegal immigrants (Dreamers - this is unconstitutional by the way) Cut "hundreds of billions" of dollars of US foreign aid (and end the Ukraine war in the progress - in Russia's favour, naturally). Withdraw the US from NATO or scale back their commitments considerably. Open season for energy suppliers - drill, baby, drill. Reinstate an order he brought in allowing all civil servants to be sacked and replaced by political appointees (Biden repealed it). "Find and remove the radicals, zealots and Marxists who have infiltrated the Department for Education". "Pass critical reforms making every executive branch appointee fireable by the President of the United States." (which I think is essentially the definition of a dictator). Currently compiling a database of willing foot soldiers to staff the administration and ensure all these policies are enacted as soon as possible. Americans aren't that stupid...surely...

I think Law will return though I only really like 5-7 returnees and Attenborough, Hurd, Osbourne, Whale, Akihito (we all know they'll pick him again) seem like front runners, then there's Raul Castro, Liza Minelli, Louis Farrakhan, Vanessa Redgrave, Shannen Doherty, Noam Chomsky etc. Currently only 9 vacant spots for the DP40 imo (10 dead from the 43 this year, plus I expect Randy Jackson and the better Rhod Gilbert to tumble down the list). Clint Eastwood and Michael Tilson Thomas (was already on 20 teams so not far off it) if he survives seem good Drop 40 bets. If you want my "they're nowhere near it right now" outsider tip for Drop 40, Pope Francis. Only on 5 teams in 2023, think he could easily be on 40-50 at least next year from casuals alone. Also wondering about Beckenbauer, but there's no real groundswell of support behind him yet... Esther might because of wishful thinking (hehehe) and Chickadee might because we're all ambulance chasing ghouls...

American writer an filmmaker Michael Crichton died on this day 15 years ago, aged 66. His books have sold over 200 million copies worldwide, and over a dozen have been adapted into films. His literary works heavily feature technology and are usually within the science fiction, techno-thriller, and medical fiction genres. Crichton's novels often explore human technological advancement and attempted dominance over nature, both with frequently catastrophic results; many of his works are cautionary tales, especially regarding themes of biotechnology. Several of his stories center specifically around themes of genetic modification, hybridisation, paleontology and/or zoology. Many feature medical or scientific underpinnings, reflective of his own medical training and scientific background. He eventually wrote 26 novels, including: The Andromeda Strain (1969), The Terminal Man (1972), The Great Train Robbery (1975), Congo (1980), Sphere (1987), Jurassic Park (1990), Rising Sun (1992), Disclosure (1994), The Lost World (1995), Airframe (1996), Timeline (1999), Prey (2002), State of Fear (2004), and Next (2006). In 1973, he wrote and directed Westworld, the first film to use 2D computer-generated imagery. He also directed Coma (1978), The First Great Train Robbery (1978), Looker (1981), and Runaway (1984). Irish presenter and host of radio and television Gay Byrne died on this day 4 years ago, aged 85. His most notable role was as the first host of The Late Late Show over a 37-year period span ing 1962 until 1999. The Late Late Show is the world's second longest-running chat show. He was affectionately known as "Uncle Gay", "Gaybo" or "Uncle Gaybo". His time working in Britain with Granada Television saw him become the first person to introduce The Beatles on-screen, and Byrne was later the first to introduce Boyzone on screen in 1993. From 1973 until 1998, Byrne presented The Gay Byrne Show when it expanded to two hours - on RTE Radio 1 each weekday morning. Byrne presented several other programmes, including Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, The Meaning of Life and For One Night Only on RTE One and Sunday Serenade/Sunday with Gay Byrne on RTE lyric fm. In 2006, he was elected Chairman of Ireland's Road Safety Authority.

Patrick Murray, Roberta Flack and Sam Neill should make DL24 imo. I've no truck for "he's not famous enough" arguments over a famous face from Britain's most loved sitcom. The Cmme picked Genesis Porridge and Bill Gates dad, there is no fame bar, just who the Cmme feel like picking. Esther Rantzen should probably make it too, just because you'd want to have her when she goes. (This message is from the non-fans of Esther Rantzen.)

At the moment he's currently copying Jacksepticeye and brought out a coffee brand called Future Self. It's the new thing to do when it comes to influencers - coffee or fast food (think Sides and when Mr Beast did Beast Burger).

Thanks to Russell Brand I recently thought about James Franco for the first time in years. Another maybe not criminal but definitely shady character (and a cringy kind of liberal for a while). It seems he really didn't get any jobs since 2019. The last major press coverage was a confession of sorts in 2021. He has some projects for 2024, but yes, seems his career was in a coma for roughly 5 years.

Well I listened to the first minute and since they had completely missed the point that it was a comedy show I didn't listen any longer. He wasn't seriously going to send his personal assistant round to Jimmy savile's house naked. If anything he was getting Savile to incriminate himself under the guise of comedy, and he did it very well. It was actually the number one podcast on iTunes at that time, with millions of listeners. But times change and now we have Captain Literal going through old comedy routines, as if they were descriptions of crimes. Next week they will probably turn up at John Cleese's house and arrest him for racism to Spaniards.

So after the textbook pile in, now there are lots of articles with people defending Brand, plus the story is moving away from the headlines. I reckon a few more days and it's over. He has probably got loads of new subscribers through this, although sadly for him at the moment he can't monetise them!
