7 pointsSo a non-registered user with a Canadian IP on Wiki is claiming that James C. Floyd (wiki) won’t be reaching his 110th in October as he died some time ago but the family never released an obituary due to them wanting privacy. This is perfectly plausible. Amateur aviation groups and self-styled gerontologists have been putting out birthday messages every year with no actual evidence of him still being alive. Last credible post about him being alive appears to be from a friend of his in November 2021 when he was “only” 107. A DDP pick this year so we should probably try to get to the bottom of this... @drol @arghton @Gisooo please keep an eye out for anything helpful.

6 pointsUPDATE TIME! I've done the tedious quarterly google of all of the picks, so here is the half-time scoreboard (with 17 days of additional time for injuries). 3 names which had escaped the scorer attention prior to the last update: 29th April: Mollie Lentaigne - the medical artist gives added points to both @Death Impendsand @Famous6Eva, who I am fairly certain did not murder her. 9th June: Yoshiko Kuga - the Japanese actress got an acceptable obit in Japanese, giving a hit for @MalePoster 10th June: Steele Hall - who @WhoamIkindly alerted me to, after the last update had already been posted. Since then, we have said goodbye to the following: 23rd June: Foolio 29th June D. Srinivas 5th July: Vic Seixas 6th July: Mirta Diaz Balart 7th July: Bengt I Samuelsson 9th July: Jim Inhofe 11th July: Shelly Duvall 13th July: Shannen Doherty Shannen Doherty is the obvious big hitter of this update, with 21 players selecting her, making her the joint 6th most popular pick. Surprisingly however, only one player had her as a Joker, and that player was @John Key who returns to the top of the leaderboard. @BuffaloPhilused Doherty to hit the 1000 points mark and move into second place, just above @Funeralopolisin third. @Grim Up North's pick of Doherty, and @MariNisia's pick of Vic Seixas means that they make up the remainder of the top-5. Down at the bottom, 2 players have decided to join the race. @ThereWillBeDeaths7had a hit with Jim Inhofe, and liked the experience so much that they followed it up with Doherty 4 days later. Meanwhile @Sod's Lawused the forum down time to sneak in a hit with Shelley Duvall. The game starts to get a bit more interesting now as the points get bigger, so keep an eye on your picks and let me know if any of them should fall. Here is the full scoreboard: John Key (1161 points) 9 hits [Anastasia Zavorotnyuk, Derek Draper, Frank Field, Joe Shannon, Jonnie Irwin, Josip Manolic, Rob Burrow, Shannen Doherty*, William Russell] Buffalo Phil (1149 points) 8 hits [Dario G*, Francoise Hardy, Frank Field, Iris Apfel, Jonnie Irwin, Juan Vincent Perez, Shannen Doherty, Simon Cowell] Funeralopolis (1018 points) 8 hits [Dario G*, Dave Myers, Derek Draper, Francoise Hardy, Frank Field, Jonnie Irwin, Rob Burrow, Simon Cowell] GrimUpNorth (972 points) 10 hits [Dario G, Dave Myers, Derek Draper, Frank Field, Jason Smith, Jonnie Irwin*, Rob Burrow, Shannen Doherty, Simon Cowell, Toby Keith] MariNisia (867 points) 8 hits [Alice Munro, Glynis Johns, Gudrun Ure, Jack Burke Jr., Thomas Stafford, Tony Lo Bianco, Vic Seixas, William Russell] Gcreptile (797 points) 10 hits [Corey Williams, Frank Field, Franz Beckenbauer, Jason Smith, Jonnie Irwin, Josip Manolic, Paul Vachon, Simon Cowell, Thomas Stafford, Zhang Lixiong] Hell (794 points) 9 hits [Charlie Bird, Derek Draper, Frank Field, Glynis Johns, Jonnie Irwin, Josip Manolic, Rob Burrow, Simon Cowell, William Russell] Toast (783 points) 8 hits [Anouk Aimee, Dave Myers*, Francoise Hardy, Frank Field, Glynis Johns, Jonnie Irwin, Rob Burrow, Toby Keith] The RadGuy (760 points) 9 hits [Brian Barczyk, Charlie Bird, Francoise Hardy, Franz Beckenbauer, Joe Shannon, Jonnie Irwin*, Rob Burrow, Shannen Doherty, Toby Keith] WEP (753 points) 7 hits [Charlie Bird, Dario G, Frank Field, Jason Smith, Jonnie Irwin, Rob Burrow, Shannen Doherty] Wannamaker (749 points) 8 hits [Brian Barczyk, Dario G, Franz Beckenbauer, Glynis Johns, Rob Burrow*, Roger Donlan, Shannen Doherty, Toby Keith] Arghton (710 points) 9 hits [Abdul Taib Mahmud, Beverly Lahaye, Jaako Valtanen, Ma Shitu, Paul Vachon, Solihin GP, Swami Smaranananda, Tin Oo, Zhang Lixiong] Wormfarmer (704 points) 6 hits [Frank Field, Iris Apfel, Josip Manolic, Phillipe De Gaulle, Shannen Doherty, Simon Cowell] ZZZ - Boring Predictable Team (698 points) 8 hits [Francoise Hardy, Frank Field, Franz Beckenbauer, Glynis Johns, Jonnie Irwin, Rob Burrow, Shannen Doherty, Toby Keith] Etushispushingupdaisies (669 points) 8 hits [Derek Draper*, Francoise Hardy, Frank Field, Franz Beckenbauer, Jonnie Irwin, Rob Burrow, Simon Cowell, Toby Keith] Diego (640 points) 6 hits [Alice Munro, Glynis Johns, Janis Paige, Iris Apfel, Josip Manolic, Vic Seixas] JoeMoneypenny (634 points) 4 hits [Alice Munro*, Dario G, Franz Beckenbauer, Shannen Doherty] Nantonian (630 points) 8 hits [Derek Draper, Francoise Hardy, Frank Field, Jack Burke Jr., Mario Zagallo, Petyer Oosterhuis, Rob Burrow, Stan Bowles] Drol (606 points) 9 hits [D. 4 pointsBreaking news about Yvonne Furneaux…It seems that she has died early July at 98, in the US where she actually lived. (an other French actress passing away these year, what a sad year for French cinema). I’m very confident about the sources I quote…but if you have more information about her, please tell it ! An other source pretty accurate : https://mailchi.mp/indepthnh/notable-nh-deaths-air-national-guard-commander-french-actress-yvonne-furneaux?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR2u_MR0nOCM5-po2TvznvlZmKlR5CZPigsT0-u-XixA6uQlKkDfqR6ny2s_aem_DaXPScRwsugOiQjw1jl32A

2 pointsI believe this brings the total down to 13. It’s truly incredible how many of them are still around.
-
2 pointsNah, If I was in that position I'd be as smug as fuck throughout, I think the occasion demands it. Humble the rest of the time, granted.

2 pointsGood for you. You can kill yourself for 1/3 the price. Save the money for your funeral.

2 pointsI'm gutted I'm going to have to miss it, but the time is already allocated to polishing the front door knocker, sorting out the cutlery drawer and if there's any time left over, descaling the kettle. The timing of this event couldn't be worse.

2 pointsLow-key gutted tonight. I'm not going to pretend it's been exciting, I wish we could find a way to unlock all of the attacking talent in our squad and I wish we'd been able to take that final step and lift something over the past 4 tournaments. But we were at completely rock bottom in 2016. The World Cup in 2014 was dire. The loss to Iceland in 2016 was not really a surprise, which was damning in itself. The less said about Big Sam the better. And in just 2 years, Southgate turned it around. He reconnected us to the England squad and gave us a team we were proud of. He reconnected them with each other, made them a squad and removed the club cliques that had plagued the Golden Generation. And he did the most incredible thing ever: he won a penalty shoot-out. More than once. Just not the one that really REALLY mattered. His reign should have ended with a trophy. It hasn't, and so he'll always be a nearly man. But he's the best England manager we've had since Bobby Robson and that's saying something. I hope the next manager doesn't throw the baby out with the bathwater and builds on what Southgate has done rather than tear it down and start again. While I don't think Gareth's had the recognition he deserves for the job he's done, I really hope we don't look back on this decision as a mistake because it's all gone pear-shaped under whoever comes next. Because it's not just a certainty that whoever comes next can do the job better. And, even if they prove more tactically astute, more ruthless in the big moments and, ultimately more successful, they are going to have to go a long way to be more calm, considered, thoughtful, eloquent and measured than Southgate has been. He has led this team from start to finish and allowed them to flourish, and, yes, I do mean flourish. 2 finals in 6 years and close semis and quarters in between is astonishing after what came before. He has given us all we ever asked of our national team: pride and hope. Thanks, Gareth. No idea who comes next, I've no firm opinions, I think they've just got a big job on their hands to make the most of the opportunity they're being given.

2 pointsAt least JR-M no longer being an MP means the others in parliament don't have to put up with him being aroused by this event.

2 pointsThat post from the wife is incredibly insensitive with "if you put your mind to it". Lots of people "put their mind to it" but still get very ill and die. He's just been bloody lucky to be able to carry on so long.

1 pointIt's to do with the licences for private railway companies expiring. That won't be relevant to already public entities. (Though if they want to push the price down of public transport feel free, I say.) Keep in mind a fair few sensible things in the manifesto already apply to Scotland (and iirc Wales) but Newcastle, Norwich and Toast Land didn't have devolution over the last fourteen years. I'm not sure how the energy company is going to work though imo it's in everyone's interest (including financially) to maximise the fuck out of the Scottish renewables set up.
-
1 pointI believe he is very much dead. The first step would be to report it on the 110 Club. Longeviquest could give an obituary, but other possibilities are bleak as his family deliberatel hid his death all these years. EDIT: or write to that damn aviation museum on Facebook.
