I can't quite remember the whole story, but 20+ years ago someone ran a competition to write a limerick containing the names Kaczynski and Lewinski. I think these were two of the winners. Monica Lewinsky has shown, What Kaczynski must surely have known. That a head job is better Than a bomb in a letter, If there's something that needs to be blown. Said Bill Clinton to Monica Lewinsky: You don't want to leave clues like Kaczynski. So since you look such a mess, Take the hem of your dress, And wipe that stuff off of your chinski. There was a third as well which had the lines: She played "Hail to the Chief", on that flute made of beef....but I don't remember the rest.

BBC Radio 1’s Newsbeat has just done a feature on her. I only really knew that she was a big name in a sphere almost completely unknown to me, but I had no idea until now just how much she was sampled. Bombay Bicycle Club, Britney Spears, producers whose work I listen to a lot. Very interesting.

My last minute call for more teams has come to naught, so the field has been assembled with 24 participants - not too shabby for a resurrected pool with only vague rules, most of which are hidden, . The rules have now been received from Clorox, and having looked through them, I can see why the 2020 tallies were never completed - fuck me, they are complicated! I will post up the master list of picks on the front page. As most teams were submitted in public and are on the first two pages of the pool, I don't see a need to list them out again. Update ahead. Mustafa Kayirici, I stick to my word and not award the Crimes Against Humanity points. Rationale in the previous post. But he's no points total to scoff at either, with 45 points for Book and 35 for Salmon Mousse. Norma Waterson and Monica Vitti were both only picked as subs. Waterson a DDT perennial, Vitti, picked by Perhaps, was one of a few this year (along with Van Dyke and Lansbury) who surprised me in not being in my HPDP database before! Both teams get 25 points. Lata Mangeshkar is the first main team hit for John Key but unluckily for him was placed dead last. 5 base points and 2 extra gives him 7 following her swan song. Lastly Ronnie Hellstrom, who had an awesome name, is waiting on a DDP-friendly QO but fortunately for us at the HPDP the German press serves as an express lane of sorts. Thus msc scores 30 base points plus 12 more for 42 total. And with that is the latest scoreboard, with Kayirici the most pivotal of the update allowing Book to extend his lead and Salmon Mousse to sneak past Reptile into second. 1. Book 290 2. Salmon Mousse 176 3. gcreptile 172.81 4. msc 160 5. Banana 124.81 6. CaptainChorizo 117 7. Pedro67 113 8. maryportfuncity 112 9. Kenny 99 10. DevonDeathTrip 95 11. Not an Olympian, but… William Mordeno, one of the top sprinters of the mid-1960s, died of complications due to COVID-19 at the age of 74 last January 30 in Butuan City. Mordeno was buried on January 31 in Surigao City, his daughter Genevieve told Rappler. Then 19 years old, Mordeno helped the men’s 4x100m relay team of Rogelio Onofre, Remigio Vista, and Arnulfo Valles win the bronze medal in the 1966 Asian Games with a time of 41.3 seconds. SC

Jo Jang-mi, an internet personality known for gaming and mukbang, has died, according to local media reports. She was 27. Jo, who went by the handle of BJ Jammi on Twitch, was suffering from depression following an incident in 2019 in which she become the subject of online attacks. During a broadcast in 2019, Jo made a hand gesture that some viewers interpreted as a signal of man-hating feminism. She subsequently made two public apologies, but the negative comments continued. The cause of death was not given, but one online post from a person claiming to be a family member reported that she had killed herself. "Hello, I am Jang-mi's uncle, and I am writing to inform everyone that BJ Jammi has ended her own life," according to the post on the BJ Jammi's Twitch account. "The cause of her death was depression, which occurred due to large amounts of hateful comments and rumors about her." SC

I've moaned about this before. Acting is a profession where the sex of the individual is relevant. If you are a casting director looking to cast a female role, you will (with very few exceptions) be looking for a female actor. Or a male actor for a male role. It is useful to have words which distinguish between the two, and it seems foolish in the extreme to discard them for the sake of "inclusivity" (if that's the word).

Here is the masterlist for the 2022 Jokers Deadpool. 203 names were selected from a total pool of 268 possible picks, leaving 65 unloved and unpicked names. Frank Field was selected by 23 out of the teams, with 19 selecting him as a wildcard pick. The only dissenting voice was (unsurprisingly) Gooseberry Crumble, whose more eclectic team selection prevented Frank achieving the rare clean sweep. George Perez and Pele were both picked by 22 out of 24 teams, with 11 wildcard selections each. Gooseberry Crumble or course didn't pick either! There were 40 unique picks in total, with 16 teams having at least 1 unique. One team stood out with 13 uniques - no prizes for guessing who that was 6ix9ine OL Ady Barkan AFB DO LL BP MA MS Al Jaffee UM HE WA PE BK MA BB Alain Delon CC GUB GR Alan Alda OL HE TO YW Alan Brownjohn DO GUB TO Alice Munro AN MA Alix Princess Napoleon SM BK BP Amy Pieters GUB OC Angela Lansbury UM LL Anna Karen PO YW BB Anne Parsons BK GR Antonio Inoki JR CC GC MS Avalon Young UM SM GC BP MA Ayman Al-Zawahiri AFB BP Bam Margera GUB Barbara Walters JR OL LL PE SM GC GUB OC AN GR BB MS Barry Humphries MA YW* Benjamin B. I really liked Unforgotten. I can understand what you're saying about Nicola Walker but she suited that role (and what she did in Last Tango in Halifax as well). Apologies if these have come up earlier in this forum but I haven't been following. Two shows I've recently got to the end of: What We Do in the Shadows - a mockumentary about vampires. Absolutely hilarious. The other one was Lovesick. A show about a young bloke who finds out he had chlamydia and then contacts his past sex partners to tell them but also find out about why things went wrong. Quite a few laugh out loud moments and an engaging narrative.
