Mimi Rogers, the attractive American film and television actress, model, and professional poker player, who started her versatile acting career with a recurring role in the television series "Hill Street Blues", and probably remembered for her sensational work in the Ridley Scott's thriller "Someone to Watch Over Me", is 67 today. Samuel Chao Chung Ting, the renowned American educator, physicist and scientist of Chinese ethnicity, who was one of the co-recipients, with his colleague Burton Richter, of the 1976 Nobel Prize in Physics, is 87 today.

Yeah if you look at 2004-6 I think there's about 5-10 (at a stretch) number ones I liked, which doesn't tell the story that there was a lot of music I liked at that time which just didn't make it to the top, or even into the charts all together.
  14. 2 points
My thoughts exactly with 00s music. The charts paint rather a poor picture of the state of music a lot of the time.

I was 16 in 1985. There was great music around just it didn't get to no.1

The population of Japan in 1922 was 57,390,000 but only 90,000+ people from that figure still alive today. Despite of this, it still a remarkable achievement if we compared it to other countries.

Is Peggy still living with Christine or are they both in the Laurels now?I know Christine was for a while but then moved in with Peggy. I doubt June Spencer or Lesley Seaward will return but you never know.If not they would just say Peggy is ill in hospital I imagine .

I think my 2022 writeup was the first time the year in review gave specific shouts to "they didn't obit but really should have"? I'll prolly make it a routine thing.

I’ve noticed the Stage dates its obituaries so should it be considered as an Obit source for 2024? It’s no more niche than the Radio Times. Also the List of the Missed has started of busier this year. 11 already for January compared to 9 last January.

Its 11 years since the death of composer Ted Dicks, aged 83. (Picture by Adrian Bailey, via The Guardian) His best known works came as a result of a collaboration with lyricist Myles Rudge, including the hit songs Right, Said Fred & Hole In The Ground, performed by Bernard Cribbins, and the Ivor Novello-award winning A Windmill in Old Amsterdam, performed by Ronnie Hilton. He also wrote scripts for TV, including episodes for Crossroads and Compact, and film and TV scores, including the theme to children's TV favourite Catweazle, brought to you with the magic of electrickery.
