Edith Ceccarelli, the oldest living American and second oldest in the world, has died. She was 116. https://www.pressdemocrat.com/article/news/edie-ceccarelli-willits-resident-and-oldest-living-american-dies-two-week/?gallery=7e411f74-ab6e-433a-b847-84c4a05e2685

I have always thought that if someone wants to end their life, it is a matter for them and them only.

RIP Edie Ceccarelli. Unexpected news, as she seemed to be in good shape in her birthday. New OLP in the USA is Elizabeth Francis of Texas.

Ordinarily, I would agree with you 100%. I am a firm believer in a persons right to euthanasia. But, fuck me, a tragic case like this would definitely cause me to at least question that belief. Something about just feels not quite right. I suppose it comes down to the idea that people have the right to choose to end their life, but can you make a rational choice if you are suffering from depression or other mental illness. I really don't know how I feel about it- it just so terribly sad.

Manohar Joshi (1937-2024) "One day I will become the king of Immortals and MyMango will spam my thread all day long!" (Joshi's shattered dreams) "Close but no cigar" (Murli Manohar Joshi) Age at death: 86 Known health issues: suffering from brain cancer after years of failing health, he suffered a massive cerebral hemorrhage in June 2023, putting him in a coma for good. Back then the chances of recovery were bleak, but in December he was giving interviews for his 86th birthday. Hospitalised in very critical condition in February 2024 after heart attack. Cause of death: Heart attack. Alignment: Seemed reasonably a nice guy, differently from his namesake Murli Manohar Joshi, who has a reputation of being an asshole.

As I said, ordinarily I would be in absolute agreement with you. But a case like this makes you realise that , as with most things in life, it is not a black and white issue. Lots of horrible shades of grey. I don't know why it should seem worse that a person would choose to end their life because of mental health problems, rather than because of incurable cancer or any other disease. But deep down, for some reason, it just does feel worse. Maybe its because we (I?) have the idea that mental health problems should be treatable/manageable, while accepting the fact that cancer or many other diseases very often are not. I really don't know. I have very little knowledge or experience of mental health problems, so I am going to shut up about it now.

Maria Branyas was born in the USA so technically American. Maybe she will move back to spend her retirement years in Florida or something.

She has had dementia for at least 5 years, hardly unexpected to me.

We can hope that MyMango and other hyperfixated Carter weirdos will have the same grace as FasuTutsami, who actually left the forum on the day Fusa Tatsumi died and hasn't (knowingly) pissed the forum off since.

I think the only way we’re going to stop the fucktards posting shite on this thread is to assassinate the poor bastard.
