I think there's a number of posters on here who have no perception of what is/is not socially acceptable, and live in the misguided belief that on here is somehow a different universe from the real world and they can get away with things that wouldn't fly in the real world. While that may fly as true to a certain extent I think we call agree wishing other members of our community dead is far beyond even any perception like that can allow for, we reserve wishing potential picks dead for the truly heinous members of the planet, so the idea as Morbidkid appears to suggest above we shouldn't even let that dignity stand for our own members, especially those that don't make it a habitat to offend people, seems to attack one of the core principles of deathlist in not wishing people dead.

MK, I don't know you and we only have what you've shared about yourself to go by, but this contentious post (and one or two others I've come across), makes me feel you are young and trying get into the groove with snappy witty comebacks and getting it terribly wrong in the process. This forum does seem to have a high proportion of razor sharp comics and the urge to keep pace is strong I admit. But they, mostly, have been around a few decades longer than you and they've learned by their mistakes.

 

MK, wishing anyone dead, even is jest, whether it's a mate or a stranger, is not a stylish thing to do. That's putting it politely. Other people won't be so polite. The mature thing to do would be to apologise, accept you made an error of judgement and I'm sure everyone will accept that and come away with a better view of you.

I notice that Cat O'Falk hasn't made any posts since your "joke" in the Welcome thread....Now, it's possible that you have apologized since in a PM (if so, you can ignore this post), but your only visible response to his reaction was correcting his punctuation.

 

The point is that there are MANY ways to offend/hurt others than simply wishing death upon someone. It's not a bad idea to do some self-reflection every now and then, and be willing to apologize the minute you find yourself standing on the wrong side of the appropriateness line.
