This smacks of Queen Mother Ceefax debacle. It means they are ready for it. Does it mean we should be as well.

Found this Star Trek scene that was cut from the UK broadcast interesting... A discussion on whether terrorists can 'win'. *nice to know about the reunification of Ireland in 2024

Default "it's their list, they can put who they like on it" here. That said, I like the historical element of the list. You know, the folk who are on the list for nearly a dozen years and then one day go in their sleep. The way some folk graduate over the course of a decade from "they've picked who", to "they've picked them again?" to "they keep picking them" to "damn, RIP to a Deathlist legend" as does happen. The Queen strikes me as the sort of person with 7 plus appearances on the list and a lengthy write up one day, but then, so did Christopher Lee, and he ruined that by randomly dying out of the blue to pnuemonia. Room for both them and folk "likely to die" on a list which has never really been about the numbers. (Otherwise, a whole host of names would have been on it...) But you know, if they want to put the Queen on it 15 times, more power to them. If they drop her and she immediately snuffs it on January 2nd, well, d'oh. But that's life. It's their list, not mine or ours.

That’s why the queen should be number 50 next year. If I was honest, I personally wouldn’t care if the queen wasn’t on my list, but because I know this is a UK site, and that she’s at an age that she could be a cult pick like Hugh Hefner was, I think she should stay, cause I know a certain amount of people from the UK would complain if she wasn’t on the list...

I don't think the level of fame, or importance, is a factor, provided the candidate meets the obit requirement. Even then there's a loophole - note that they "must be famous enough such that their death is expected to be reported by the UK media".

Harald is alive and still going strong! The Norwegian media has hundreds of Tribute Reports ready to use when a celebrity or politician dies. AS a standing joke here, no one works weekends and only between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on weekdays, when the nursery schools are open. These pre-produced reports save on over-time pay.

The article has since updated retracting the original story. It turns out the deceased Marcie Blane was actually a homeless woman who claimed to be the "Bobby's Girl" singer (in the vein of false death reports for "Itsy Bitsy......Bikini" songwriter Paul Vance or baseballer Bill Henry), whereas the actual one remains alive and well.

Yeah, people really like to call Monroe really attractive, and while she is slightly pretty as was pretty much all the actresses at the time, I just don't understand why people call her the sexiest. What really annoys me, however, was that it kind of paved the way for the stereotypical blonde: You have to be pretty, you have to be sexy, and you're usually dumb. That really bothers me a whole lot. Personally, I'm find brunettes who are pretty intelligent people to be the most attractive, however there are very intelligent blonde people as well because I've met some of them myself, but because of people like her, they are perceived to be dumb, which is so fucking annoying...

It has now been confirmed that the idea was that Star Wars 7 would be Han-centric, 8 will be Luke-centric and 9 was to have been Leia-centric. Well, thank goodness Carrie died then. Leia was by far the least compelling character in the original SW trilogy (she was just a one-dimensional, "feisty" feminist at a time when traditional damsel in distress female characters were starting to fall out of fashion. There is no more depth to the character than that. So there you go, a character cynically designed by Mr Lucas to cash in on the feminist fad so that all the naive little late 1970s/early 1980s tomboys would buy his Leia dolls.) Furthermore, Carrie was nowhere near good enough an actress, with or without drug and pychiatric problems, to be front and centre in a film. It is harsh but fair to say that rewriting Ep 9 to compensate for the lack of the dreadful Leia character will lead to a strong film. http://www.radiotimes.com/news/2017-05-25/star-wars-episode-ix-was-supposed-to-be-about-carrie-fishers-general-leia http://www.avclub.com/article/disney-started-over-star-wars-episode-ix-after-car-254835
