3 pointsHer mother was a widow for 50 years. I think her example would be what the Queen would hope to follow. She can stay off the list until she is a widow or until we have new evidence.

2 pointsYou've got to wonder how many of those within sight of the man are already compiling their sensational books for when he's out of power. Despite the steady turn over of senior staff there must be a few aides and the like keeping their heads down and ears open. Given Trump's total inability to function to anyone else's agenda and the inconsistencies of his statements this is the kind of stuff that adds up to decent insider accounts once it's over. Add to that that the market for any President Trump book is probably wide open because he's unlikely to write an insightful account and any ghost writer employed to do so would likely be shouted at to turn in some gushing tribute that'd become a classic for ironic appreciation. Of course all of the above depends on his presidency ending before the world gets fried in a nuclear war.

2 pointsJesus Christ. You can still get them on amazon.com, but I ain't linking. Some of the comments are priceless, though.

2 pointsFrom the timestamp, it seems to be the "I'd still do her" comment. And yeah, THAT would be stupid, not bold. (I'm not sure whether she's still fit enough to have sex, but even if she is, she might not be in the mood.)
-
2 pointsI'm sure she will be devasted but I'm sure she is more robust physically and too stoical to die of a broken heart. She doesn't seem the type and I don't mean that as an insult to her.
-
2 pointsIf Prince P goes first then it might bring her end about bit quicker. Loss of soulmate and all that bull. Cannot live without him and his lovely alluring little racist quips etc.

2 pointsWhilst I generally have a sympathy with the idea the Queen would be too big a name to miss I do think the committee can afford to drop her for 2018 and resume her continuously never to be dropped again status at until she passes away at a later date. It would be less risky to do that sooner rather than later so now is the best time to take this calculated risk in my opinion. I think she's highly likely to live as long as her mother and then some but obviously not guaranteed it. I think she's safe though next year and should be dropped for 2018. It will help free up room for fresh names and stop a big log jam of too many untouchables dominating the list.

1 pointIt's always a surprise, imo, to find out Denis Lawson is that young. He always seemed like a man pushing 70 in things for a decade or two! He was very good in an episode of Inside No 9 recently, much recommended. Leslie Schofield has the Star Wars/Blakes 7/Doctor Who hat trick to his name. Been in shitloads but not seen him in anything new in a while. Shane Rimmer was one of the Thunderbirds and wrote a number of Captain Scarlet episodes too. Still does a fair bit of voice acting. I know Harry Fielder (extra but his CV will get an obit) was ill a while ago.

1 pointI believe without the Nabeel Qureshi obit, I am still at 3 hits (Eman Ahmed, Daisy B. and Helen Fawkes). With the lists scattered amongst 6 pages of chat, it is tough to get a sense of the standings, although I realize no one is within a decade of winning this thing yet. I would like to swap my Nabeel "not worthy of an obit" Qureshi pick out for Lauren Wasser, please. One other suggestion while I am here: I check in rather haphazardly and have been missing the open periods, which also appear to be a bit haphazard. Am I the only one at this disadvantage? I recommend having the open swap-out periods established, for example, first weeks of Jan, April, July and Oct. Then everyone knows when to check in and update their lists should they want to. Alternatively, starting next year you could get rid of the open periods, and just limit each player to a set number of swaps each year, say 5. Or one swap every two months, etc. Also, I am cooking up a new deadpool that I think will be interesting, and plan on starting a new thread for entries right after xmas, to start competition in the new year. Please tune in and join if you would like. Look for Five4three2one Deadpool. Come one, come all ye faithful . . .

1 pointLocal council, who tried to demolish The Headington Shark, now considering giving it listed status. Hopefully if they decide to, they do it within the chap's lifetime.

1 pointYeah - and Victor Frankl who came out of a concentration camp and wrote one of the most widely read books on the meaning of life ever published. But loads of people don't step up after the full POW experience. So I stand by the admiration for JM

1 pointAnyone else get the feeling that there might be 2 or 3 coupon-busters over the festive? I feel there are possibles still to go and some of them are on my teams for next year. I'd say 2017 is on a par with 2016 and well, we all know what happened last year...

1 pointCycling is very dangerous. So is all exercise. Just in the Netherlands each year about 150 people suddenly drop dead jogging or in gyms. That's 70,000 premature deaths a year globally. Physical exercise is almost as bad as smoking. Michael Schumacher went skiing and look where's he now.

1 pointI am really surprised, but happy as he was a likeable character, George A Cooper is still alive. He played janny Mr Griffiths in Grange Hill from 1985 and left in 1992 at the age of 67. He is now 92 - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_A._Cooper This guy -

1 pointI'm glad to see you've gotten a new pet; he's really cool! BTW, I'm not Dutch, or an uncle either, but I'd like to express my opinion on something here if you don't mind. If you've got an OCD or something similar, I suppose there's nothing to be done, but if not, read on: If you truly believe that people are being hateful toward you, then I think you should either advise them to f*ck off or ignore them completely. Denigrating yourself, or eclipsing yourself by editing out posts is only affirming the negative (or what you perceive to be negative) opinions of others. Ignore those who do not appreciate animals; they don't get it. As for pointless posts - which this one is rapidly becoming I'm afraid - who is to judge? One man's pointless post is another man's revelation. People have put forth many fascinating theories about the beginning and end of the universe. No one, as far as I know, has ever come up with a credible theory as to the point of it all.
