There's a pub in Brighton (The Lion and Lobster I think?) that is well known locally for its celebrity death prediction contest: put a pound in the pot and if you predict the next death you win the entire kitty. I have never entered it because I just know I'd end up in an argument over what counts as a "celebrity" with the barman, and possibly glassed.

I had noticed this. Was going to change it to "Reality TV star best known for his appearance in the second Home Alone movie".

Even Jane Austen allowed her characters a little bit of Deadpooling. This is from Chapter 3 of Mansfield Park Tom listened with some shame and some sorrow; but escaping as quickly as possible, could soon with cheerful selfishness reflect, firstly, that he had not been half so much in debt as some of his friends; secondly, that his father had made a most tiresome piece of work of it; and, thirdly, that the future incumbent, whoever he might be, would, in all probability, die very soon. On Mr. Norris’s death the presentation became the right of a Dr. Grant, who came consequently to reside at Mansfield; and on proving to be a hearty man of forty-five, seemed likely to disappoint Mr. Bertram’s calculations. But “no, he was a short-necked, apoplectic sort of fellow, and, plied well with good things, would soon pop off.”

A little bit of my reputation preceding me... So I get this new night shift person out at the rig a week ago. She is quite the anomaly: 25, educated (Oklahoma State Univ - geology), and extremely attractive. (In fact my first question upon meeting her was 'what the HELL are you doing in the oil field?). So I like her around lol. OK let's stick to the subject matter. So after a bit of chatting she says 'so I understand you follow dead people'... (that was a quote, but you know what she meant). I chuckle a bit and say yes I track everyone on a daily basis (and talk about it with co-workers, who don't care at first but then find it quite interesting after a week or so). To which she says 'me and some friends have a contest we pick a name or two and see if they die". So THAT'S the type of person who dead pools! SC

Is that similar to prostate cancer? Well he's not going to take it lying down.

There is actually a John Majors but given the rest of their team, typo? He was Major till 2015 when a very similar team had him as an unique with the S. Although that got me looking up Lee and Herring, which took me to this: Apparently, Herring did, it's where they met. You pop on to Deathlist Forums for 5 seconds and accidentally learn something new...

Your picture always reminds me of John Prescott.

WOHOOO WE HAVE A THREESOME! The first DL in which all 3 appeared was in 2007. Kirk Douglas was already a bit of a DL veteran by then, while Olivia & Vera were relatively new. From March to July of that year, all of them were exactly 90 years old. And here they are, 11 years later! I'm Team Olivia (big shocker, eh?), but Vera Lynn is a worthy opponent. What about Kirk? Well, there is no way that the of will allow Kirk Douglas to live to see 2019 and become the person with the most DL appearances. Oh, and RIP to Billy Graham, the best wrestler-preacher hybrid to ever live. You truly were a superstar, aahaha.

I actually lived in Park Hill for a year back in the 80's. The flats themselves were fine, and the overall concept was great, but the area itself at the time left a lot to be desired.

Probably demanding that Ruth Madoc gets her own chat show and the public flogging of Matt Lucas.

More importantly he won't be dead for 1. Guy is touring like he's 35. It would have to be a stunner heart attack or summat taking him out, he certainly hasn't a health concern otherwise. SC

New podcast: Death 101 — Jessica Zitter talks about the realities of dying. "In October 2017, Zitter, an ICU and palliative care physician at Highland Hospital in Oakland, sat down with Amy Tobin, CEO of the Jewish Community Center of the East Bay, at the Uncharted Berkeley Festival of Ideas in Berkeley. Uncharted is a production of Berkeleyside. The pair talked about why we have to address the “End-of-Life Conveyor Belt” where the dying are intubated, catheterized, and die attached to machines, often without even knowing they are dying. Zitter also offered tips on how to have difficult, but necessary, conversations about death with our children." SC

He also thinks season three of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend was good, rather than a confused fucking mess that completely throws away what was a great series for one-and-a-bit seasons before Greg was written out of it, so he's clearly a nutjob.

This doesn't look too good but Theresa May might be draining the life force from her.

Kirk and Olivia will die before Vera, though I don't know where, don't know when.

Even Zsa Zsa isn't most selected celebrity in history (of who have died at least). Because of a huge amount of selections in the mid 2000 due to a health scare, Fidel Castro got on 1709 teams before he died the same year as Zsa Zsa. But I think the most selected celeb in the DDP was Ms Thatcher. Appeared on a whopping 1766 teams from 2003 to 2013, and that's with her living three years less than both Castro and Zsa Zsa...
