Sad to hear about Galton passing away. We've lost a true legend. Many people praise the actors or comedians, but without a good scriptwriter they wouldn't be half the talent they are.

LA MUERTA 12/50 6th October 2018 When the voters of this forum picked opera singer Montserrat Caballe for the 2018 Crowdsourced list, your honourable host wondered what they were thinking. Well, it turns out to be yet another case of What the hell Does he know, as Caballe has died to provide the list with its twelfth success of the year. Montserrat had a career in opera which stretched over 50 years, and saw her in demand in Europe and in Carnegie Hall. This high demand appeared to continue well into her 80s with the tax authorities in Spain. In the UK, she was probably best known for her duet with the brilliant Freddie Mercury. Barcelona reached 2nd in the UK Singles Charts in 1987. Caballe, who was 85, had been in poor health for some time, and so was selected in 33rd position by voters.

It's very possible she could be a Posthumous Oscar Screenwriter nominee for "The Hate U" which opened in the USA today.

Ah, sad - for her and for my theme team idea. Third loss this year. I posted her recent hospitalization in the Opera thread.

There was some story not too long ago about him having been on a diet. I don't believe any of it. He was on my very first DDP team ten years ago, on the grounds that he looked like the sort to keel over suddenly from a heart attack. O? Would that be the I've a monstrous tumour in my gut diet? The woops the chemo's not working diet? Or the ever popular cigar-smoker's COPD=iet? Yeah, they say he had trouble walking.... Brain tumour ? He sounds terrible as well . I'm sorry but you weren't the first, or the second...

This recent article seems to suggest that Julie Gibson is still alive and is 105. https://lmtribune.com/northwest/commentary-former-roundup-queen-made-her-mark-in-hollywood/article_6f3c2181-5209-5a53-9aa2-a9f92f639b47.html

Actually a very well worded argument - completely different to her normal drivel. And we all know to watch out for the next update in 6 weeks. Sounds like she has a good chance of making 2019 now.

I'm of Guyanese descent (so my ancestors were Indian), but old Bollywood was important to me, my family, and culture, so I always feel sad when someone of that generation passes away.

Roy Glauber will be 93, not 91 at the start of next year. Got him on my long list.

In terms of how fucked he looks I would put him in the same camp as the last pictures of Henry Cecil Patrick Swayze Robin Gibb Leslie Grantham Terry Thomas Alex Higgins Freddie Mercury andTammy Faye Messner.

Optmism can be misplaced as was the case with Ronnie James Dio and Robin Gibb. She is living her life to the full while she still can.Stage 4 lung cancer is a terrible diagnosis and I am. sure Leah knows as much. Her optimism revolves around the time she has.A very logical decision. She is creating precious memories for her partner and children by investing her time in shamanism which is clearly giving her and those around her great comfort.Good for her I say.I think she is going through the faze of being overly positive so that her nearest and dearest have a sense of joy when they reminisce about her in years to come.Much better for those you love dearly not to remember you as a poor helpless being but as someone full of joy and positivity. When you know your time is limited it makes sense to maximise the memories for those you leave behind. I am conficted in what I hope for Leah.I hope on balance she deteriates rapidly and dies in peace later this year rather than lingers on and suffers .As horrible as this sounds there is a logic to it.53 is no age to go at all.If you have to though it is better that it is not too drawn out.Although on a personal level I think shamism is bullshit. BUT if it helps Leah and her family cope with such a horrible situation then that is something to be celebrated.
