Saw Garfunkel live last night. Was on stage for about hour and a quarter, with a 15 minute break in the middle. His son (!) had a solo in each half and there were anecdotes or poetry (!!) between most songs. Lost his thread with the talking a couple of times and looked a bit frail. However when he started singing most of the voice was still there and there were enough magical moments to make it a worthwhile and moving evening. We only got 2 verses of bridge over troubled waters but sounds of silence and bright eyes were both great. Anyone who can still sing like that isn't about to keel over but would guess he won't be touring much longer. Not one for 2020 but I saw contemporaries the Stones last year and he was much frailer than any of them. 2022-3 would be my guess.

Some complete psychopath attacked bret hart at the hall of fame. Attacking a 60+ year old man , a cancer survivor and stroke survivor from behind is pretty low. https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/lordsofpain.net/bret-harts-wwe-hof-attacker-identified-interesting-recent-tweets-to-wwe-superstars/amp/

It is a brilliant City if you stick to the places that the tourist board prefers you to go. Last year I went and had a brilliant time at Shakespeares Globe, the Tower of London and other places. I may well have been born there, lived there and visited the usual haunts many times but London is still magical and it absolutely shits all over Paris for friendly service alone. It's just a shed load of other parts of the city that have become utter gash. Mind you, having had the shit kicked out of me on the hills of Ally Pally in around 1975 I can confirm that London was still a den of violence even then. It's part of the reason my parents got off of their arses and moved us all out to Essex, which was, at the time, a paradise.

Actually this is all going to plan. Spade gets his early lead from his massively low hanging fruit and later in the month when the Grim Reaper finally gets off his bony backside he will start mopping up all those lingerers starting with my list. Sweeping me to victory by the end of the month.* *Do not be surprised if this does not happen

Body has been found at Day’s home, though it’s unclear whether it’s him or not.

Some useless trivia, Babs and Bobby Fischer were in the same class at high school and they used to eat lunch together. (I know this because I'm currently reading End Game , Fischer's rather excellent biography)

Wow, can't believe I actually managed to get ahead of Banana. I hope it lasts. Regardless, should be a high-scoring round between us two. As for Mr. Tong, from what I read about him, he seemed like a reactionary sociopath and he will not be missed.

And with that, we have a potential winner for basically any outcome short of a doomsday scenario.

Seeking to fill the void left by the death of Prince Leonard of Hutt River? 85-year-old Elsie Eiler serves as treasurer, librarian, bartender and Mayor of Monowi, Nebraska. Why? Because no one else lives there. Every year she secures funding for the town's traffic lights, files paperwork to prevent the town from becoming unincorporated, and issues herself a liquor licence. In the 2010 Census, the total population of Monowi was one (76.5 years old, female, white). The population nearly fell to zero when she battled cancer in 2011. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/travel/travel_news/article-5445903/Welcome-Monowi-Americas-smallest-town-population-1.html

I'll take 2, which, given the current pace, is actually a reasonable estimate.

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Alien Film Franchise, six new short films are to be released. March 29: "Alien: Containment" — Four survivors find themselves stranded aboard a small escape pod in deep space. Trying to piece together the details around the outbreak that led to their ship's destruction, they find themselves unsure to trust whether or not one of them might be infected. Written and directed by Chris Reading. April 5: "Alien: Specimen" — It's the night shift in a colony greenhouse, and Julie, a botanist, does her best to contain suspicious soil samples that have triggered her sensitive lab dog. Despite her best efforts the lab unexpectedly goes into full shutdown and she is trapped inside. Little does she know, an alien specimen has escaped the mysterious cargo, and a game of cat and mouse ensues as the creature searches for a host. Directed by Kelsey Taylor. April 12: "Alien: Night Shift" — When a missing space trucker is discovered hungover and disoriented, his co-worker suggests a nightcap as a remedy. Near closing time, they are reluctantly allowed inside the colony supply depot where the trucker's condition worsens, leaving a young supply worker alone to take matters into her own hands. Written and directed by Aidan Brezonick. April 19: "Alien: Ore" — As a hard-working miner of a planet mining colony, Lorraine longs to make a better life for her daughter and grandchildren. When her shift uncovers the death of a fellow miner under mysterious circumstances, Lorraine is forced to choose between escape or defying management orders and facing her fears to fight for the safety of her family. Written and directed by the Spear Sisters. April 26: "Alien: Harvest" — The surviving crew of a damaged deep-space harvester have minutes to reach the emergency evacuation shuttle. A motion sensor is their only navigation tool leading them to safety while a creature in the shadows terrorizes the crew. However, the greatest threat might have been hiding in plain sight all along. Directed by Benjamin Howdeshell. April 26: "Alien: Alone" — Hope, an abandoned crewmember aboard the derelict chemical hauler Otranto, has spent a year trying to keep her ship and herself alive as both slowly fall apart. After discovering hidden cargo, she risks it all to power up the broken ship in search of human life. Written and directed by Noah Miller.
