As we know, there are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns—the ones we don't know we don't know. And then there is... The Committee.

Biblio once described losing in the Cup solely by a FFBI pick (before those got axed) as feeling like the opposition dived for a penalty. I quite liked that one.

It's fucking ridiculous! What is it with the British that they desperately need to champion people as heroes? The NHS staff have done what the NHS staff are meant to do. The fact that it is a prolific virus with a high transmission rate is neither here nor there and, yes, I am fully aware of the governments failings on PPE. It is like having Firemen( persons) spending the bulk of their career getting cats down from trees and putting out car fires and, suddenly, like, they have a REAL shout to go on. You become a doctor, nurse, fireperson, soldier on the strict understanding that you may, one day, be called in to do some heavy shit, like go to war or summat. If you want to clap for our 'heroes' do it for the staff at Tescos or the Bus drivers and all the others that earn even less than a nurse and were still dealing with the public, and dying, long before they were finally given 'protection' from the rest of us virus riddled bastards. You know what will really happen though, Chris Witty will probably get knighted, as will other associated heads of this and heads of that, and within they will sprinkle the odd old duffer who knitted face masks in their porch. We created dear old Tom, so desperate were we to have somebody to hang our fucking coats on and focus on. He did his bit, many thanks, but the press and the media whipped up the public into a frenzy and the rest is history. One day we may just actually get on with things instead of looking for people we can create 'heroes' out of.

Ok, so I said I wouldn't do any more. However... Aquarian Dream. According to the sleeve notes on Tough! by Pucho and the Latin Soul Brothers released in 1966, Claude Bartee is referred to as being in his "late twenties" (so anywhere between 1937 and 1940 I guess) and a native of Detroit. https://www.amazon.com/Tough-PUCHO-LATIN-SOUL-BROTHERS/dp/B07T3TWYHJ. I've seen him referred to as sideman for Pucho and also Grant Green so it's the same guy. That's it.

Thank you The word committee does make it sound more grand , formal and organized than what it may well be like in reality! A drunken WhatsApp group chat in December deciding who goes on the list perhaps more accurate! I always imagine them meeting in a ten Downing Street type cabinet committee room ordering pots of tea and brainstorming on A4 paper!

I would elevate @msc and @Toastto the committee if it was in my hands. They are both amongst my favourite posters on here especially @msc and that would be the main reason for my decision. Their posts and demeanours are thoughtful , intelligent, friendly and likeable and @Toast has sass in the perfect doze quantity! I think they'd enhance the choices the committee make with their own personal interest stamp and being a bit leftfield with their recommendations. I think they could persuade and charm the other committee members into including a fair few of ther choices thus spicing up the end result!

Didn't that other knight of the realm, Sir Jimmy Savile, raise huge amounts of cash for the NHS as well? Just enquiring.

I too get a strong feeling that a death is due pretty soon although I dont get the strong vibes around Olivia De Havilland.Im not saying it won't be her but I'm not getting feelings around her name. Bob Dole, Leslie Phillips, Lester Piggott and Joanne Woodward are the names were I get vibes.

I can't believe I'm still at least two hits away from victory. I also can't believe that Stephen Sondheim saw his 90th birthday, and that Sidney Poitier is still alive.
