5 pointsRULES Pick a film with at least three (or four) remaining cast members and submit the name of the film and the three selected cast members on this forum The first player to have all three of their cast members die wins the round. No two players can pick the same film but are allowed to duplicate cast members If two players end up with their single remaining pick being the same performer then they are obliged to add a tie breaker to their team this can be any member of their film's cast or crew. At the end of the round entries are wiped and everyone picks again. All films in the previous rounds are out of bounds (though could be reintroduced in the subsequent round). Winning films will go into the Hall of Fame and are out of bounds for the whole game. The Game will start on Sunday 22nd November 2020 but late entries will be permitted. However late entries may not duplicate actors. Those that have already sent me teams via PM will be included on the masterlist other wise post below but check the first game as no duplicates films are allowed.

1 point50th Anniversary of the television report by Paul Linnman, who stood on a beach in Florence, Oregon, reporting on the dead 45-foot 8-ton sperm whale that had washed up on shore. The Oregon Highway Division had decided the best way to remove the dead 8-ton sperm whale that had washed ashore was to stuff it with 24 cases of dynamite and blow it up. The idea was that the rotting whale would be nearly disintegrated by the blast, and that any smaller pieces left over would be taken care of by seagulls or other scavengers. But it didn’t go as planned. Enjoy the video. SC

1 pointDYING ON THESE LONG SUMNER NIGHTS 15/50 13th August 2020 Media magnate and well known lover of steaks Sumner Redstone has died at 97 to give the Crowdsourced list another hit. He began his career as a special assistant to US attorney general Tom C Clark. Afterwards he joined his father's theatre chain National Amusements, and in 1967 he became the CEO of that company. After suffering and recovering severe burns at a fire at the Copley Plaza, he set his eyes at Viacom, which he ended up getting after a four month hostile takeover in 1987. He next went to purchase Paramount Communications in 1994, and won after a bidding war with Barry Diller and John Malone. His biggest acquisition was that of CBS, however, which was the company that used to own Viacom before Redstone got it. He was executive chairman of both CBS and Viacom before he resigned in 2016. In recent years, he was more known for being one of the immortals that would never seemingly die, and was also known for his profound love of the tasty steak. He finally died at 97 to the surprise of everyone, who all thought he would live on forever, but just like Clive Dunn, Zsa Zsa Gabor, and Le Duc Anh, it is proven once again that immortals don't exist. He scores after two years of being off the list, in what I believe is the first successful boomerang pick (ie returning after being dropped off the previous year).

1 pointI've always said @BuffaloPhil was a man of impeccable decision making qualities. Ok, I understand his recent court case hasn't cast him in the greatest of lights, perhaps with damn good reason. But he doesn't strike me as the suicidal type because of it. Yet no less than 2 of our more esteemed colleagues pick him? What am I missing here? Long story short, Huh?

1 pointThe economy? Fucked. Business? Fucked. Our standing in the world? Fucked. EU citizens in the UK? Fucked. UK citizens in the EU? Fucked. Rights and freedoms? Fucked. Democracy? Fucked. Response to Covid? Fucked. Honesty? Fucked. People’s confidence in government? Fucked. The whole country is fucked. And it’s largely thanks to this ball bag, who today gets to fuck off without facing the music. Completely unelected, he’s been the most powerful man in the country and has orchestrated its transition into a satire playing on a fuzzy old telly that’s burning away in a skip fire. Cummings is a horrendous little worm and I hope an overwhelming feeling of misery and dread gnaws incessantly at his brain for the rest of his life.

1 pointMy order (that I fucking preordered) from Brewdog has arrived! A slightly cloudy, nicely hopped New England IPA that carries its 6% lightly, a nicely tropical nose and a refreshing finish. Would happily get absolutely Cummingsed on this if it weren’t for work tomorrow.

1 pointOK , I lied. I don't have some sort of a life Alex Trebek was a hit for 26 out of the 43 players. That seems to be a record, beating Leah Bracknells record of 22 set last year. First up, he was a hit for the leader Grim Up North. This brings Grim up to 17 hits, which breaks the record for most hits in this game, set by MSC in 2018. It also brings Grim up to 2888 points - another record, beating John Keys 2805 set last year. He was also a hit for the next 5 players on the scoreboard, keeping them all in contention as the game hots up. Remarkably, the 10 players in positions 7-16 on the last scoreboard all had Trebek as their wildcard, instantly bringing them all closer to the leaders, and causing a major bottleneck in the fight for the minor places. Only 275 points, or 1 hit, separates Etush in 2nd from Banana in 16th. Ans as Grim continues to streak ahead, it is worth noting that there are now 5 players within 2 hits of the leader, with more likely to join that list as the days tick by. Spare a thought also for CaptainChorizo. With Alex Trebeks demise, he equalled the old record of 16 hits in the game.... and dropped from 3rd place to 9th in the process . 1 pointOkay - some major activity in the Hares pool: John Lysak is apparently dead. Who was he? A pick so obscure that he died on January 8th, but no-one even noticed until September. And Whoam! who picked him didn't notice until last week. His reward is a whopping 7 points. Geoffrey Palmer was a unique pick for YoungWillz to nab him 309 points and a rise from 4th last to 6th last. You will have to wait for Trebek - I do have some sort of a life you know.

1 pointAlways been the case. It's all to do with things like the Electoral College (that again). The USA is exactly what it says a group of United States, each one operating independently of the others (with a Governor, State Legislature, etc.) The Electoral College is designed to ensure all states matter equally and get their own say, so they don't get swallowed up in one big mass (which was a big concern back in the founding of the Republic). So basically, there's an election, then they need to actually count all the votes (including absentee, provisional [things like people who asked for a mail in but may have voted in person too], many states have something called 'cured' ballots, which is where you may have made a mistake on your ballot [e.g. missed a signature on a mail in or the voting machine has punched a hole between candidates rather than for a specific person] and you get the opportunity to correct it so it counts) according to each state's rules (every US state has it's own version of our Electoral Commission to decide how the election is held - for instance all the states give their whole Electoral Votes to the winner of the state, apart from Maine and Nebraska which award 2 to the state winner and the rest to the winner in each Congressional district). Once that's all done, the state has to officially ratify the vote (presumably through the state legislature but I don't honestly know), then they have to appoint their 'Electors' who will attend the Electoral College and officially cast the state's votes, then the Electoral College cast their votes in early December (on a specific day about a month after the election). These are then ratified by the Congress (House and Senate) but only after the new session begins in early January. Once that's happened, there's about a fortnight before Inauguration Day on January 20th. So, in answer to your question, basically: paperwork. It used to make more sense because states obviously cover a big area. If you held a Presidential election in California in the 1880s, they'd be so far from Washington that they'd operate completely independently, hold their election and then send their representatives to formally announce the vote in Washington which would take time to get there. Now it still takes time, but possibly not as much. Inauguration Day did get moved - it used to be in early March but Franklin Roosevelt moved it back to January 20th and it's stayed there ever since. Another reason for waiting is Transition. The President-elect uses the 10 weeks or so to decide on his team: Department Secretaries, key White House staff, they'd usually like to make a start on Department Staff too (Trump didn't, he left loads of roles empty for most, if not all, of his presidency). There's no Civil Service in the US, although many people may survive from administration to administration depending on their role. I guess that's the biggest difference to the UK - the reason a new government can waltz in the day after an election is because the Civil Service are still keeping the ship afloat anyway. Hope that helps.

1 pointSaw this on Twitter, it’s a list of 23 words for things people feel but have difficulty explaining. I only knew a couple of these, and most of the rest I’ve been searching for for years.

1 pointYes, "myself and" really boils my piss too. If you're going to be ungrammatical, why not keep it traditional with the old-school "me and". I suppose they all think "myself" is correct.
