2 pointsClose! She was a name I had considered, but for some reason didn't make the final selection. I just don't know enough about any of these people.

1 pointServus, Grüezi und Hallo! Welcome everybody to a little German/Austrian/Swiss pendant to our very beloved bible „DeathList Top 50“ and to its equivalents of the French, the Canadian and the Australian/New Zeelandian DeathList, created by forum users. We, the German forum fellas frleon, gcreptile, Prophet, TomTomTelekom, WEP and Book, created a list of 50 German, Austrian or Swiss people (from the so-called D-A-CH-countries*) of who we think that 2021 could be their final year. *By the way, D-A-CH means D = Deutschland (Germany) A = Österreich (Austria) CH = Schweiz (Switzerland) „Dach“ is the German expression for „roof“. First we collected several names which came to our mind, also of people who were born in the German speaking countries or later became a citizen of that countries. Then everyone selected 50 names and put them in order 1 to 50. First place = 50 points, last place = 1 point. At the end I added up all the points and the result was the German DeathList, now called The D-A-CH-DeathList. I'm sure you'll find some surprise inclusions but also some “obvious misses!” Every obit in the German language is accepted, because dead means dead Maybe this thread could also be used for German deaths generally, like the ones for the Danes or the Slavs or the famous Belgians. So, to cut a long story short: In the next post are the 50 German, Austrian and Swiss people of our very first D-A-CH-List 2021! Thank you for your attention. Enjoy!

1 pointI'm quite hoping they win now, just because of the all the craic you'll get on Twitter with this post-Brexit leaving the E.U then pumping them at their football tournament. Piers Morgan might actually explode. Also Marcus Rashford and Gareth Southgate are such righters they'd be well able to fend off any Tory-led jingoistic bollocks from Boris & Co if it does come to pass and will have none of their shite. Thank God they won't be able to be wheel out Captain Tom. Anyways it'll be Engerlandshire 2 Italy 1 Probably.

1 pointThis is something that I really despise, and it mostly seems to be Scots who indulge in this childish nastiness. It's going on in another forum I use atm as well. If England had been knocked out earlier and it had been Scotland playing tonight, I would have been cheering them on. Same if it had been Wales, or one of the Irish teams. I am happy to see anyone from our islands do well. It's fine to have favourites, but ugly to hate another country's team to such a degree. I always cheer for Andorra. I have a soft spot for the ridiculous little place.

1 pointHuh, I'm lost? I was rooting for Denmark, on the spurious reasons that I quite like Denmark, and am a sucker for sporting underdogs? And you don't get more underdog than your best player nearly dying on the fucking pitch! (But being honest, I am fairly chilled about this English team. No outright gobshites like John Terry or Ashley Cole or the like in the side to make you root for Andorra instead!) I tend to ignore Windsor's hategasms about everything in his own country tbh. (But yes, 44th in the world Scotland actually qualifying for something and holding the joint-favourites to a draw was an achievement in context. Unionists who see everything in society through the lens of Sturgeons smile are as bad as the cybernats imo.)

1 pointThe funeral of Friederike Mayröcker was public and I attended it. I was unfamiliar with her work, but am working on a project regarding Vienna's Central Cemetery and considered it research . Most surprising was the choice of music: instead of hymns, the songs that were played included Procul Harum's "Whiter Shade of Pale" and Louis Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World" She is buried with her partner, Ernst Jandl. They lived in the same apartment complex but with two separate apartments... I think we can learn a lot from this!
