Michael Constantine, an Emmy Award-winning actor and co-star of the movie My Big Fat Greek Wedding, has died. He was 94. Constantine won his award for the TV series Room 222. I was sure Myfanwy Talog, David Jason's partner for many years before her death from cancer aged 50 had been in the odd episode but she's not. I wonder if there is a general John Sullivan curse, none of the main male actors in Dear John reached 70 and Diane Bull who was in the mostly forgotten Sitting Pretty died aged only 46. The cast of Citizen Smith seem to have escaped it though. Edit - I know there isn't really a curse and any programme which ran for years and with a long cast blah di blah, I just find interesting to note these things.

I posted this on here at the time, but worth repeating. I saw Lamont walking round Hyde Park last year during lockdown. He looked healthy. I would exclude him for several years at least.

I saw this last night, and thought he'd make a good DDP pick. So good, in fact, that I've picked him for the last five years .

Sudden deaths have always happened even at younger ages. My uncle was 57 and with apparently no health issues when he died in his sleep of an apparent heart attack.

And he didn't. Michael Constantine (wiki) has died aged 94. Passed away on 31st August but only announced now. Cause given as simply "natural causes". Bess Meisler, 98, who played his mother(!) in the film survives him.

As you mention him, Ray Illingworth isn't a bad shout either for 2022.

Ok, so after all this chat about the Only Fools curse, I thought I'd do some digging and I've created this (not exhaustive) list. Main cast members who are dead are listed first, then the rest by age. Agree wholeheartedly! For me the best years in pop still remain 1978 and 1984. What about Captain Sensible? Always appeared to me he was having a great time whilst totally dumbfounded his records were selling!

Chiyo Miyako has somehow gone into Limbo... Kane Tanaka, 115, is the interim World's Oldest Person while people figure out what the hell happened. Also Nabi Tajima's age is now disputed, meaning she might not have been the oldest person after all. Plot twist!
