@MortalCaso, thank you for this. He's one of my favourite actors. I spoke briefly with him 15 years ago. It was very exciting. He's a very polite person. About pools... I can't write his name on either list. I'm not able. Yes... I know you think I'm a fool. But I don't care, I'm like that. @MortalCaso, thank you once again for this.

I understand what your saying and completely respect your viewpoint. I think what sometimes gets lost about this site, is that it's more than just a contest. Our fascination with who lives and dies isn't a callous fetish, as much as it is a peculiar means of paying tribute to those who have shaped our world. I'm just a millennial from the States, but David Jason to me is a true legend of comedy and British TV. So often, it feels our heroes are dying off faster than they can be replaced. These giants who we laughed with, grew up with, and changed the way we viewed our world sometimes seemed more like friends and family members than celebrities. So often whenever theirs a big miss on the list, all the idiots come forward and say "why wasn't he/she on the list?' and as pointless as it is, sometimes, there is a feeling that the big Hollywood names crowd out other great candidates who contributed equally to the worlds cultural tapestry. Just because someone isn't known to have age related health issues, doesn't mean they don't exist. Famous people who chose to keep their health battles private will inevitably become misses on this list. All i'm saying is this contest can benefit with considering colorful personalities whose health may not be considered front page news after they have stepped away from public eye. Facepalm me away for making this sentimental comment. Just expressing how I truly feel.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/60007178 https://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/news/2022/1/190-year-old-jonathan-becomes-worlds-oldest-tortoise-ever-688683 In an otherwise bad month for supercentenarians and longevity research, one interesting longevity record has been broken: Tortoise Jonathan now officially the world's oldest living land animal and the oldest tortoise (and chenolian) ever at ca. 190 or more, breaking Tu'i Malila's record from 1965. Blind with no sense of smell and fed by hand but "came through the winter well"

Not a matter of admiration. I've honestly never seen any of his work nor have I ever watched a single episode of "Only Fools and Horses". I was merely bringing up that many people recognize him as an icon. He's very well known and as Paul bearer said, his work encompasses a number of well known projects outside of "Only Fools and Horses". I think we'll just have to agree to disagree.

Interview from Aug. 2021. Sounds good, main issue is his hands which never stop shaking. I've been following him closely for a long time. Not DL worthy just yet. Does regular podcast still as noted above. Clear + Vivid M*A*S*H survivors and other notable people frequent it

Big Merv Shields dead from COVID-19 complications. Age not known but believed to be in his late 50s. Bass guitarist for neo-Nazi skinhead group Skrewdriver (wiki), fronted by the infamous Ian Stuart Donaldson (1957–1993). Posted this in here as I didn't think the Nazi of SS thread was appropriate (it seems to just be WWII names we discuss in there). This thread should probably act as a place to discuss the British far right.

Currently reading a wonderful book called "Dictionnaire de la Mort" (The Death Dictionnary) which lists anecdotes, fun facts and citations from all over the world and all periods. There's a whole chapter about centenarians and some interesting stories about the claimed oldest people. Besides the well-known story of Pierre Joubert (1701-1814) who was considered the oldest man ever for centuries before a further analysis in 1990 which revealed it was a father and his son with the same name, the book also talks about a man called Annibal Camoux (wiki) who was supposedly born in 1638 and died in 1759 in Marseilles, France. We can apparently see him in this painting from the well-known French painter Claude Joseph Vernet who painted this L'Entrée du Port de Marseille in 1754 : in the foreground on the left, a yellow-dressed-woman is introducing a man who was said (by the painter) to be Annibal Camoux. Apparently this case was well documented and a lot of people believed in this legend : Cardinal Belloy (wiki) who was 98 when he died came to visit the man on his deathbed and practiced the last sacrament apparently. Even though I don't think this is real, this case is interesting and his inclusion in such an historical painting is fun to me. If anyone cares to investigate (which I don't) here is a blog from a descendant of Annibal Camoux who gave a lecture in 2020 in Marseilles about him.

So, a couple of observations 1 - Seems unlikely now that a belated discovery of a death before Bishop will skew the final result, so BIG congratulations to the skilful and courageous Banana who won a tough competition fair and square. 2 - Banana has been PM'd regarding whether consumer goods or a charitable donation is the best prize option but has yet to respond. I could - like - make a donation to Brinsworth House if I never hear back.

Lawl. The MSM have a fucking cheek calling us “sick” and “vile”. Their journos definitely have the Forum open in a spare tab on their browser as we often spot a lot of deaths from social media before them! Then they’re the ones who copy our research, take credit for it and get paid for it. Brass necks!
