5 pointsA little bit of housekeeping to be done on this pool. 4 teams had picked Mustafa Kayirici who didn't make the starting line. Book, Captain Chorizo, Salmon Mousse and Toast all had their 1st sub promoted. The Old Crem submitted 6 Wildcards. The last of them, Vicky Phelan, had her wildcard status revoked. The Unknown Man submitted Glynnis Johns twice. Al Jaffee, the first sub, was promoted to the team. I am going to park this pool for a little while, as I am going to spend my time sort out the scoring for the 2020 Jokers Pool before starting on this one. The two hits so far, Christos Sartzetakis and Lata Mangeshkar will remain unscored until I return to this in a month or so. In the meantime, please keep noting the hits so I have a list to work on when I get back to it. Of course just because I have not scored the hits, does not mean that there has not been points scored - this is the Jokers Pool after all. The first scoreboard of the year is on Page 1 - Congratulations to Marinisia, our early leader.

3 pointsAnd as El Mundo counts as a QO source for the cup, we don't need to wait for any English-language translations. Isabel Torres played legendary Spanish trans singer La Veneno ("The Poison") on TV, but there's no antidote to stage 4 lung cancer. Eight teams are celebrating Torres getting on the scoresheet like this was Anfield in 08 - however four of them (BabyBlue/An Fear Baeg and Salmon Mousse/MortalCaso) cancel each other out. TQR and Grim Up North increase their respective leads to six points, HDS cashes in their joker to overtake Pedro67, and Annami has moved into clear squonk territory against Hell. LizLemon 0 v. 3 pointsStrangely, this comes soon after the giant panda got moved off the endangered list (to the vulnerable one, which is still to be wary of course) - partially because of their increased numbers in the wild. Turns out, contrary to internet memes, the panda will actually fuck to save its own species, it's just they're a contrarian grumpy sod. Actually, come to think of it... they've clearly worked out as a species that if they bat their big eyes and pratfall a bit, humanity on the whole will look after them from birth to death and give them a life of food and lots of play. They're cunning bastards.

Have to wonder that, along with the supercentenarians being run through, if there isn't a similar thing happening with centenarians as well? All names mentioned above have died in the last 5 days (6th Feb-10th Feb), and that's without counting names already mentioned in this thread + people without English Wikipedia pages who nonetheless got local obits

2 pointsBecause it should be posted here too. Ian McDonald, the multi-instrumentalist who was a founding member of both King Crimson and Foreigner, has died at the age of 75. https://ultimateclassicrock.com/ian-mcdonald-king-crimson-foreigner-dead/

2 pointsI wouldn't. It's likely, considering how as you said she looks a lot like the Queen Mother looked at her age. Someone on another forum actually made a comparison a couple of days ago and I'd say that she even looks better. However four years is always a long time for a nonagenarian, even a healthy one with good genes.

1 pointWhen Yes Prime Minister did its well known sketch about who reads what Newspaper, the Daily Express was not one of them, but a common joke I saw among fans was that Daily Express readers want to resurrect Diana so that she can run the country.

-
1 pointThe point isn't how clever she is. I don't expect a doctor to be a walking pharmaceutical encyclopedia, but you would hope that she would at least look it up on fucking Wikipedia before displaying her ignorance on Twatter. Best steer clear of her if you get nits.

1 pointCharming. We won't be introducing your proposed rule. You will either need to accept that, or, if you cannot, find another website to frequent. In any case, please ease up on the whining and personal abuse - it really is a very unedifying spectacle from a grown man. DDT

1 pointHere's the complete list of Inverse Dead Pool 2022 candidates, ranked by the total number of points you've all assigned them. TOTAL POINTS # OF TEAMS 1 Donald Trump 1022 46 2 Paul Gascoigne 907 44 3 Clint Eastwood 867 45 4 Ghislaine Maxwell 863 43 5 Phil Collins 755 44 6 Queen Elizabeth II 742 43 7 Dick Van Dyke 724 43 8 Billy Connolly 647 43 9 Rupert Murdoch 632 42 10 David Attenborough 624 41 11 Shane MacGowan 573 39 12 Joe Exotic 508 36 13 Willie Nelson 444 41 14 Rolf Harris 430 40 15 Olivia Newton-John 415 35 16 Yoko Ono 414 32 17 Mel Brooks 401 36 18 Tony Bennett 359 33 19 Bobby Charlton 351 39 20 Doddie Weir 335 29 21 Prunella Scales 314 32 22 Angela Lansbury 269 27 23 June Brown 241 25 24 Shannen Doherty 216 23 = Tim Bilton 216 21 = Tom Parker 216 26 27 Henry Kissinger 194 18 28 Milos Zeman 191 18 29 Bill Turnbull 187 18 30 Rob Burrow 158 20 31 Mikhail Gorbachev 137 15 32 Jerry Lee Lewis 135 15 33 Linda Nolan 117 13 34 Francoise Hardy 101 14 35 Harry Belafonte 92 14 36 Eva Marie Saint 84 10 37 James Whale 83 11 38 Joanne Woodward 82 14 39 George Alagiah 81 11 40 Leslie Phillips 74 5 41 Jean-Louis Trintignant 65 5 42 Pope Benedict XVI 63 8 43 Jimmy Carter 62 7 44 Tom Smith 58 12 45 Susie Steiner 43 5 46 Bob Barker 42 4 47 Pele 37 6 48 Tom Weiskopf 17 5 49 George Perez 11 3 50 Frank Field 1 1 You'll note that I've colour-coded the top half in green and the bottom half in red – except that the three-way tie at #24 means a team composed of the forum's collective wisdom would actually have too many candidates and presumably be disqualified. Maybe a bad omen. Statistically, the fuckedest candidate is Frank Field, with only Bibliogryphon gambling a single point on him walking out of a hospice with his Birkenhead held high. Our biggest vote of confidence is for Donald Trump, who appears on 46 out of a possible 48 teams. If he dies, only theoldlady and my old lady will be spared the carnage. The 46 of us who've given him a glowing health assessment are probably now in the running to be his personal physician, so make sure to drop your LinkedIns below.
