8 pointsThe Noose Teen Tightens George Pérez, comic book artist primarily known for his pencilling, and dead pool pick primarily known for his pancreatic cancering, has died aged 67. But you know what comic book deaths are like – they'll retcon him back in a couple of years. Pérez was known for his work with both Marvel and DC Comics, including Wonder Woman and The Avengers. It's almost hard to believe that all those MCU films – even though I hear they sometimes look almost live-action – were drawn in pencil. Unfortunately for fans, now that he's dead, the franchise is over, so I hope this latest Multigrain of Breadness film wrapped up the whole plot sufficiently. Penciller Pérez's cancerous Páncreaz hasn't created much crisis on Inverse Earth, where only 3 players pencilled him into their teams. If it's any comfort to Hell and Neobrakeon, there may be infinite parallel realities in which you're doing better than this. GAINED TOTAL =1. Death Impends 0 =1. Sean 0 =1. 2 pointsPrime Minister Spencer Perceval was assassinated on this day 210 years ago, aged 49. Perceval was elected into Parliament in 1796, and quickly rose through the ranks- he became Attorney General in 1802, and the leader of the House of Commons in 1807. He became Prime Minister in 1809. During his administration, King George III's health was in decline- he was blinded by cataracts, and suffered from depression following the death of his daughter Amelia. Initially reluctant to do so due to political reasons, Perceval passed the Regency Act of 1811, in which the Prince of Wales (later King George IV) would step up as prince regent. On the evening of May 11, 1812, Perceval entered the House of Commons as usual- when a man approached him and shot him in the chest. Perceval died within minutes. The assassin, John Bellingham, was a merchant who believed he was wronged by the government, due to the government not offering him financial compensation for being wrongly imprisoned in Russia (Bellingham is also a first cousin many times removed of current MP Henry Bellingham). Bellingham was tried, found guilty, and hanged a week after he killed Perceval. Perceval is (so far) the only British Prime Minister to have been assassinated.

1 pointFrom a non royal/republican pov, it's fascinating to see the usual press suspects go from years of "Barmy Prince has woke sons, mad green ideas, was mean to Saint Diana of Our Hearts (formerly The People's Jezebel ruining Britain with her whoredom 1994-97 TM) to suddenly twigging he's going to be the King in the near future. The U-turn to "he's going to be the King, suck up to him" is hilarious. I'm sure similar things happened in 1898-1901 with playboy don Teddy becoming statesman future king Edward.

1 point1. As has been mentioned several times, regency is for mental incapacity, usually due to infancy or senility. The Queen is still on top of all her government briefing documents and continues to carry out both virtual and in person audiences with dignitaries from a variety of sectors. 2. As LFN stated, part of this is choreographed. The idea the monarchy "can't function without its lead actor" is precisely the issue. The lead actor is on the way out in the next few years. Seeing Charles take the lead in things like the laying of wreaths at the Cenotaph and, now, the Queen's Speech is simply ensuring that when the Queen passes, the jolt to public life will be (slightly) less sudden, as we are used to Charles performing these functions instead of the Queen.

1 pointShe was hard to categorize, went her own way. A bit of an overwrought, Janis-style bluesy voice for my tastes, but I do like her version of this Goffin-King song, given the full kitchen-sink, wall of sound production by Jack Nitzsche.
