7 pointsI have updated the table with hits I'm aware of through today. Is there interest in doing this another year? I have been in a funk about the apparent loss of Doug Stanhope's Celebrity DP site. I put a lot of work in there but it seems to be kaput. Anyone heard if it will return?? Coincidentally, with it went my master list of research and recordkeeping for my last 12 years or so of deadpooling. So I am trying to pick myself up out of the doldrums of deathpooling and reconstruct my tables. I will host this one again if there are still a dozen or more of you who find it a worthy challenge, just post a "like" if you are in. Or for those of you who oppose that method of expressing support, an added statement of participation works too, although I have never understood what the opposition to likes is about . . . . .

3 pointsI've outlived all members of my family except the alcoholic who smoked for fifty years. My husband and I ate the same foods together for half our lives. He's in an urn, and he didn't have the cancer running amok in his family as I do, but it killed him anyway. I take Vitamin D3 to reduce my risk of getting the cancers that killed my family members. I practise Qigong. The planet's getting hotter and wilder and I have no desire to be an insect-crunching octogenarian swept out to sea or caught in a forest fire. I moved out of the United States as being gunned down in a supermarket or coffee shop, as a friend of mine was, is not, ahem, my cup of tea. I'm about choosing the way I go, not postponing my departure.

2 pointsPope John III died on this day 1448 years ago, aged 54. Born with the name Catelinus, John was elected to the papacy in 561 after the death of Pope Pelagius I. Four years into his papacy, Byzantine emperor Justinian the Great died. His successor, Justin II, stopped paying tributes to the empire's neighbors, causing a war to break out between the Byzantine and Sassanid Empires. Rome, and therefore John, were left vulnerable to attacks as Justin focused on fighting the Sassanids- beginning in 568, the Lombards began to invade Italy, and besieged Rome several times (they failed to capture it). John went to Naples to retrieve the general Narses for help- Narses was disliked due to over-taxation, and his hatred shed onto John for bringing him back. This hatred was so immense that John now had to perform his papal duties just outside the city limits. John died after a thirteen-year reign and was succeeded by Pope Benedict I.

1 pointYeah, I always liked the pool. It forces you to make it work when it comes to certain letters, and the timing is nice, especially if the Poker Pool is gone.

1 pointNowt. I don't smoke but do zero exercise and I'm pretty much an alcoholic. I will be 50 on my next birthday and almost certainly entering into the final third of my life. I've seen a few relatives who have got into their 80s and early 90s and trust me it looked really shite.

1 pointMeanwhile the BBC proves that it's not only Diane Abbott who is piss poor at counting. Errr surely that's five? 'Suella Braverman reaches 20 backers Suella Braverman says she's "got the numbers" to make the leadership race ballot. The Attorney General shared that she'd made up the 20 MPs needed at a Southend City event held in Parliament this afternoon. This makes Braverman the fourth candidate thought to have got over the line, with Rishi Sunak, Penny Mordaunt, Liz Truss and Tom Tugendhat understood to have also reached the threshold.'

1 pointHeh, I wouldnt mind a shared win either, but yes, sudden death is probably fairer than the coin toss. I do think though, that my joker is a worse than Joey's. Apparently, Mike Davis' wife said that there wasn't any "immediate" danger, so he might just not be somebody for this month. Still, Joey's joker might decide not to go for the dignitas date after all, and then we're left with our differentials. They're kind of a bad bunch, I guess. Mine are okay, but might all just slip into the next month/s. Joey's differentials are not the best (IMHO) except for Don West, who might decide the game, and that's after all, all that's needed.
