Russia is chaotically retreating from Cherson right now. It's apparently a bloodbath. Things are moving quickly again now after Ukraine built a lot of pressure over weeks and weeks.

The King has appointed 6 new members of the Order of Merit, all of whom were supposedly chosen by Queen Elizabeth II days before she died. Problem: when she was alive there were only 5 vacancies. The 6th vacancy was created when the King ascended the throne. So are Buckingham Palace lying, or did the Queen know her death was imminent…

South African politician who served as state president of South Africa from 1989 to 1994 and as deputy president from 1994 to 1996 in the democratic government F. W. de Klerk died on this day a year ago, aged 85.

Was shortlisted to run in Tam Galbraith's old Glasgow seat originally. Lost in 1987 to Tommy Graham, the horrid bigot behind the alleged blackmailing that led to Gordon McMaster's suicide.

Yeah, I didn't know that life peers are now in the vast majority. I thought they were the exception. Two weeks ago, I watched a video on Canada's upper chamber. The House of Lords now reminds me of this.

7 months later, Scotland didn't qualify, so I guess they cancelled this... No, wait, it's starts in 10 days time... No point starting a new thread if Sir Creepy did one already. Who do folk fancy? I mean for the Cup, not Gillian Anderson. At heart, I'm a cheery romantic. That's a complete lie. But even so, I think this could Argentina and Messi's moment.

People of the 110 club found out that Kane Tanaka had a sister born in 1902 which means she’s probably not born in 1902 herself despite her family claims. I would go even further saying that this information is quite delicate because if her sister was born in the second half of the year (at least after may), Kane Tanaka can’t be born in the 2nd of January. of course this is just speculation and maybe her older sister was born in january or february 1902 which would fit but still this is quite odd…

4th vote for Tebbit just now, making him half as popular as Pele, which must be an all time high for Sir Norman.

Yeah, this is a difficult one. She's obviously not listed on the artwork or anything, and going by Discogs none of the actual four Teletubbies themselves are either (although, vaguely interesting trivia, the song was produced by Sid James' son). I suppose the real barometer is whether it was a freshly recorded giggle or they just sampled the giggle previously taped for the show. Anyone got a PRS membership to check?

Sue Carroll's death I'll never forget. The joker of my proposed DDP debut, and I saw the announcement of her death checking my phone at the family Christmas dinner and, without thinking, loudly went "OH FUCK IT!" at the top of my voice in front of my entire family (mum, gran, younger relatives etc etc). I had to pretend I'd just bashed my knee off the table.

After the dismal showing by New Jersey Devils players in the Stanley Cup Finals, I have a feeling Martin Brodeur wishes he were out of the life picture (at least for a little while)

Not really. I would imagine they don't know what day it is let alone their position in the age world ranking.

M.Lawrenson Thanks for your contribution and respect to your site. I don't know why I couldn't get the link directly to the Williamson accident photos but hopefully those who used my link found the rest of your site interesting. Are you sure Piers Courage's De Tomaso was made of Magnesium? I thought car builders had learned the hard way at Le Mans and that Courage had an alloy car - with a fair percentage of magnesium - in which the company had gambled he'd have a chance to get out before a fire started. How much of Courage was left when they'd doused the flames? Judging from the car body he'd have been taken away in a shoebox.

And there goes another one.... World's Oldest Man Dies Grim Reapers suggestion seems more and more appropriate. Oh, and Frenzy - your pick of James Rockefeller was certainly prescient - he died August!
