Surely if you want to search for Crosby's death, you'd use Bing.

Inquest into his death reveals that Leslie Jordan died from “cardiac dysfunction” and was dead before his car crashed. Now, I’m no doctor but if they’re certain that he was dead before crashing then it sounds like his aorta may have ruptured, in which case he likely died instantly (Hollywood style if you like) so he wouldn’t have even known he was a goner. At least he didn’t suffer in any way.

One thing I have observed over the not even three weeks that 2023 has been thus far comprised of is the sudden rise in notable deaths, or at least deaths of people I have heard of/common death pool picks. While I cannot be sure about the main list, which still sits at zero out of fifty deaths, 2023 could be a kind of enema as Gooseberry Crumble has been predicting for the last while and a half. In the last 19 days, Frank McGarvey, Gianluca Vialli, Adam Rich, Lisa Marie Presley, King Constantine II of Greece, George Pell, Jeff Beck, Robbie Knievel, Lucile Randon, David Crosby, Fay Weldon, David Sutherland, Ronald Blythe, Gina Lollobrigda, Carole Cook, Tatjana Patitz, etc. have all passed away. The ones named there total 16. In 19 days. 2023 has so far proven itself to be a major killer of celebrities, some expected, some shocking. I cannot predict the future, so I'm not going to prophecise the next 11 and a bit months, but it seems that Dead Pooling could be in for a record-breaking year.

Maybe. He wasn’t really a controversial drop through. He didn’t seem very unwell. Where does this rank on quickest death after being dropped? 19 days can’t have been beaten many times if at all. Could it be the quickest ever?

2023 is going to be the year when every DL drop dies.

INVERSE DEAD POOL 2023 Welcome to the 12th edition of the Inverse Dead Pool, the nice dead pool where you don't want your picks to die. How to play The game starts when I post a list of this year's 50 most popular Derby Dead Pool picks. From this list of 50, you must pick 25 people who you think will SURVIVE the year. The premise is to AVOID picking people who will die. Rank your picks – from least likely to die to most likely to die. You receive points according to their position on your team – 25 points if your #1 pick dies, 24 points if your #2 pick dies, and so on, down to 1 point if your #25 pick dies, and 0 points if anyone you haven't picked dies. You do NOT want points. The winner is the player with the fewest points at the end of the year (Dec 31, 23.59 GMT). You may also appoint a substitute, or substitutes, in case any picks die before the submission deadline (or in case you accidentally include a name twice). If that happens, everyone in a lower position on your team moves up a place, and your top substitute is drafted in at #25. Once you have a team ready, post it in this thread. If an eligible pick dies during the submission period, then the 51st top DDP pick becomes eligible; if another dies, then the 52nd becomes eligible, etc. You may amend your team after posting it, as long as it's before the submission deadline (you might want to do this if, for example, the 51st name becomes eligible and you want to include them). If you do, make sure to post again in this thread to clarify what you've changed. Tie break details If two or more players are tied for victory at the end of the year, the winner is whoever had the fewest points most recently (i.e. whoever had the most recent pick to die, or whoever ranked that pick higher if all tied players picked them, or whoever had the second most recent pick to die if those are the same, etc). If all tied players have the exact same hits in the exact same positions (or if they achieve a heretofore-unachieved perfect score of 0), the tie is not broken – all tied players share victory. Pretty easy to cobble together though I was stunned to learn a person who is ‘just a guy’ and not particularly ancient to DL is on the Committee. To that end I’d like to hear the criteria other than being male.

Arguably there’s no such thing. He was tweeting yesterday and had announced last year that he wanted to go on the road again. I think it’s more likely that he had a sudden medical turn ie heart attack or stroke.

Some sources have been suggesting Crosby’s cause of death was (long) COVID. I’m now really regretting omitting Willie Nelson from my 2023 shadowlist. Nearly a decade older than Crosby, Nelson was gravely ill with COVID last year about the same time as Crosby, and Nelson has experienced emphysema and so many other health issues over his 90 years. I really should have put Nelson on, I don’t blame myself so much for missing Crosby.

On this day 13 years ago in 2010, Scottish Rugby Union commentator , journalist and former rugby player Bill McLaren died aged 86. He came to be known as the voice of rugby. He was part of a group of sports commentators who post war made a transition from working on BBC Radio to BBC television in the early days of the medium. Murray Walker, Dan Maskell and Peter Alliss were also in this group. Bill had two daughters, one of whom he outlived by 10 years and two famous son in laws, Scottish rugby player Alan Lawson and racing commentator Derek Thompson.

I dont believe that he will ever make it into the official DL. Although I honestly see no difference between him and other DL-worthy asian leaders like Bhumibol, Akihito, etc.
