I don't agree but if that is the case it is surely a damning judgement on the quality of the opposition

Rupert Murdoch, the famed and powerful Australian-born American billionaire businessman, investor and media tycoon, who earned his fortune as the founder of the influential media conglomerate News Corporation, is 92 today. I’m going to show my support by not watching it, just like every other week. “And that’s four runs for Sheffield Athletic” will not be heard in my residence, oh no sir! The last time the masses smelled football-related bullshit, they got the European Super League called off within a week.

Now Nigel Farage sticks the boot in: Maybe he should look back at his own pronouncements on foreigners and consider just how close his language came to 1930s Germany.

I could understand it to some degree if he was a political presenter, but he's a sports presenter FFS! It's not as if he said it on air, and frankly he didn't say anything that wasn't true. This is getting frightening. I despair.

It has frequently been said that Lineker could earn more at a rival broadcast ( remember that Jeff Stelling has been trying to retire for two years) we only know what he is paid because he works for the BBC. As soon as he goes the same voices will be saying that the BBC cannot attract quality talent. This is pure distraction. The question should be Why is the current Tory party so vile?

You and me both - I've played the b-side of They're Coming... a couple of times on my radio show, to the 99.9% of posters who haven't a clue about this, the record is infamously weird because - basically - it's the a side, played backwards!

Yes he can be a knob, his jokes are puerile and he is seen as a bit of a twat but he is head and shoulders above the utter dross there was back in the day and now. His musical knowledge of the greatest ( IMHO) decade in modern music is second to none and he was never too big for his boots to take on Junior Choice where a generation of kids got entertained and were made to feel important by him. He was, is and always will be what he set out to be, a DJ, playing the tunes and talking to the folks listening in. Nah, he was no John Peel or Whispering Bob but millions of us would rather read a tabloid than a broadsheet. Amen.

Question: Am I being too strict here? Given we only have six months... The idea is definitely to exclude FFBI and try and garner notable persons (FFACOSK - Famous For A Contribution Of Some Kind). The whole world is available and there's plenty of famous people: Nobel Laureates, Criminals, Sports People, Politicians, even Reality TV stars, blah blah blah. Crikey, even Diane Torr would have qualified! The games here have a serious tendency to favour the sick and sick alone. I'd like this one to have a uniqueness about it if at all possible - in fact the entries for the Hare's Pool were nearest to what I'd expect, although a few campaigners got through on the rules. Up to the gang....

In keeping with the recent sports team for new deadpools, I came up with a deadpool somewhat similar to the NFL season and playoffs. Say, from January to September there is a "regular season" where a group of say, 32 deadpoolers is divided into 8 divisions and every fortnight they compete against a different deadpooler for who can get the most hits in those two weeks. Then from the start of September to the end of December are the "playoffs" where the 8 division leaders as well as a couple wild-cards maybe (some of the better ranking non-leaders) compete in an elimination-style competition until a winner is crowned. I'd start it myself, but I've got the Windy City Deadpool to take care of, plus - and I don't want to reveal too much - but I am negotiating plans to take over a popular deadpool starting next year (no, it's not the DDP, are you fucking nuts? ) So, basically, if anyone is interested in hosting something like this: feel free to do it.
