Thought the symbol of what became Pearl Harbor would make for an interesting topic now that we are down to 5 survivors, so easy peasy to keep track of. We had 6 till this week. A WWII veteran from Rhode Island, one of the last survivors of the attack on the USS Arizona at Pearl Harbor, has died. Raymond Haerry's death was disclosed by Tim Gray, a local filmmaker who included Haerry in a new documentary, Remember Pearl Harbor, to be aired nationally on PBS this December on the 75th anniversary of the attack. Haerry died Sept. 27 in West Warwick at 94. His death leaves just five survivors from the USS Arizona. The rest of the short obit is fascinating so I suggest a quick read. Go meet your shipmates Seaman Haerry. SC http://www.providencejournal.com/news/20161007/ri-man-one-of-last-survivors-of-uss-arizona-dies

I'm on holiday in London with my girlfriend for the next couple of days, having arrived this evening and leaving sunday afternoon. We haven't planned much as of yet (besides Hamilton the musical, gf is a big fan and I appreciate most of the songs as well), but with the crowning done (with loads of crowds) and Eurovision fans off to Liverpool I guess, it might actually be a great time to be here!

I can sometimes see Trump living to a very old age like Henry Kissinger will, but yes 92-93 years is most likely for Trump imo. Trump has aged very well (he will be 77 next month!) and is not in the frail stages yet.

With the death of Sir Roger Moore on the same day as news of the Manchester bombing broke, I thought to myself that it's unfortunate that he had to die when he did as his death would have been a bigger news story if it had happened on a different day. Aside from Roger Moore, what other badly timed celebrity deaths have there been? As in, ones that conflict with a major news event or disaster? Joe Cocker's death conflicted with the Glasgow bin lorry crash and was 3 days before Christmas which wasn't great timing. Any others?

Finnish composer Heino Kaski died on the 19th or 20th of September 1957 - massively overshadowed by much more notable Finnish composer (and Kaski's teacher) Jean Sibelius who died on the 20th.

Losing her hair again, resigned to her "one-way ticket" and making funeral plans: https://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/linda-nolan-neil-sedaka-song-29777462 Don't worry Linda, you're on my team. That always helps survival chances. (Sadly though, it might not, given the story of this year).

She made several appearances on The Good Old Days, was a subject of This is Your Life, was lampooned by The Two Ronnies and recorded an album with Harry Secombe. Ed McMahon it would seem. You've got to be pretty tough to be 85, break your neck, then continue attending public events a year later. Also, just-turned-104-year-old Ziegfield girl Doris Eaton Travis is still dancing.
