The first celebrity death that I remember was that of Ernest Borgnine, but the one I remember even better was Margaret Thatcher when I was 9 - I was sat in Sainsbury's cafe with my mum, saying something like "she was a great woman" (all i knew about her was that she was the first female prime minister) and my mum said "no, she really wasn't" then said what she'd done. My hatred of the tories started not too long after that

I recently read about a reunion for the Shadow F1 team employees. Most significant team members were there, but one missing due to 'ill health' was former team boss and Grand Prix driver Alan Rees. Might be worth considering, especially for a theme team. He'll obit With a QO without too many issues.

That report says Spider Stacy, his old Pogues bandmate, has been to visit him now. Spider lives in New Orleans so if he's rushed off to Dublin now, that doesn't sound great news for Shane imo...

IF he makes it, the committee should be bold and put him at no. 1. Jimmy Carter isn't dying anyway

10 point deduction at Everton, plunges them second bottom with four points - livens up the footy news on a dull weekend (unless Malta can Muller England tonight) Unlikely to do owt to the managerial sackings other than give Dyche's legend a little more shine as he overcomes adversity and limitations around him, again. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/67448714

MTV comedian Rip Micheals is hospitalised after a heart attack. His remaining heart function is at 17% and he is surrounded by personell of the "heart failure" unit. Not one for very long, I think. https://nypost.com/2023/11/15/entertainment/rip-micheals-of-wild-n-out-hospitalized-due-to-heart-attack/

Nine days ago he wasn't even on oxygen, on Sunday he had a nasal cannula and now it seems he's on some kind of BiPAP or high flow oxygen. Sharp decline in a relatively short time.

He still has that characteristic deep voice and a brilliant head of hair. Still very recogniseable as the Robert Wagner of old all things considered.

In Prince Philip's case, he said he kind of dreaded turning 100- he definitely did not want to celebrate his 100th birthday- so he got his wish! I bet he died with a smile on his face!

When they were filming Trainer (in which he played a professional gambler), he drove this car. He stopped and gave my friend's mum a lift one day when he saw her plodding along the road (she lived quite a long way out of her village). She had NO idea who he was.

It is almost certainly true that he was involved in some bomb making activities etc. and his wifes proclivities are not in doubt, but I do think you are being a little harsh. People do change over time, and I would not class Mr Mandela as evil.
