2 pointsIs she another fekin diva? We (me and Mrs Bearer) went to see Cher in Vegas a number of years ago. Bitch told her doormen to confiscate all cameras and phones. We paid to see her and we should be allowed to take photos as a keepsake. A couple of days later, we went to see Barry Manilow (there goes the street cred), we were allowed to take cameras and phones in. When he saw someone about to take a photo, he would pose. As he said, " you put me where I am, thank you, take as many photos as you want". Chrissie should think about that.

2 pointsYes, I wanted to add him to my longlist only to find out that he was already on it. Then I went, 'Oh, that guy'. Probably even Death List worthy - a bit like Robert Pirsig. Edit: Eh, definitely Death List worthy, more so than Robert Pirsig.

1 point18 is the age of consent in Texas, where the incident occurred Irrelevant. A paedophile is attracted to pre-pubescent children, not nubile teenagers.

1 pointJeremy Hutchinson a hit for me, Rotten Ali, and RoverAndOut: https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/lord-hutchinson-of-lullington-obituary-lfx0kvk05 Not sure if it changes much though.

1 pointIt's time someone sued the Government for these deaths. I'm so angry reading about it, while these freaking millionaires say it's not because of their policies. My thoughts, condolences and anger are with you CL. I'm sorry to hear that anyone in 21st century Britain feels driven to suicide by the prospect of being destitute and unsupported.

1 pointMel Brooks seems too sprightly and full of energy and zest to be on the DeathList just yet. Perhaps a little too early for him.

1 pointI shall have my usual mix for my general team of people mentioned here, people who haven't been mentioned for a long time and at least one person who has had a death hoax and at least one person associated with The Beatles. My theme teams will write themselves I feel...

1 pointAmazed to log on see Fats still topping the picture charts hereabouts tbh Wednesday for this one; I'm not getting my Advent Avalanche hopes up - and if he does make it that far we'll all be hovering over the keyboard at midnight to claim him.

1 pointAstronomer Percival Lowell died on this day 101 years ago, aged 61. It wouldn't be another 14 years until the "Planet X" he was looking for was discovered, and subsequently named Pluto.

1 pointI sincerely hope Michael has taken out Reverse Mortgages on all his properties so that his wife and he have lived well and been able to travel! The heirs may find there is nothing monetary to fight over! The Bank takes theirs after the man dies. (We spent our kid`s inheritance CAR stickers crack me up, I guess his stickers would be on his castles.)

1 pointThe greatest male that ever lived, Chuck Conners, died 25 years ago (71). Dude played on the NY Yankees, the NY Knicks, and was the Rifleman, and quite dashing to boot. We (males) should all be so lucky.

1 pointThe following "borrowed" without permission from " Lashtal.com" a site dedicated to Mr Crowley. Charles Edward d'Arquires (formerly known as Randall Gair Doherty formerly known as Aleister Attaturk formerly known as Aleister Macalpine), b. 2 May 1937, Newcastle-on-Tyne, died on 20 November 2002 in Chalfont St Peter, Bucks. All of the above is from the death certificate, which has an incorrect date and year of birth (mistakenly giving 11 May 1939). His birth certificate gives the name as Randal Giair Doherty, with that odd spelling. I guess that answers your question.........

1 pointI've thought for hours once before, about how Adolf Hitler could with stand such stiff hate, and be so cold hearted. And never feel one drop of guilt in his empty conscience. His pathetic inner self, and hopelessness made him who he was. It was revenge. It was payback time. Not any conscious walking human being could suffer more then him. He believed this and within this man he held no mercy. For what ever his downfall could have been, he wanted the reflection shined on every living creature. The wish for all to suffer deeply in your heart is the face of true evil. And when Berlin was captured, the mad man Hitler came out more and more, demanding suicides of his own soldiers, and harsh direction to top SS commanders. Hitler failed, but for the second time. The first failure which led to his fallen glory may never be revealed, in the second he took a revolver to his head. I believe Adolf Hitler died long before 1945. What long lived in him was not of his own. I don't know if this is the place for it, but it's my two cents.

1 pointI always wondered what the name of the guy who played Bungle was. Stanley Bates is a bit elusive, no date of birth on imdb, and I could only find this old photo of him. What a way to spend the bulk of his career, in a giant teddy bear suit.

1 pointTo paraphrase, and not translate, Mr Heesters says that he visits the Oktoberfest every year, but this year did so from the start, and that he's the oldest visitor. Tricky, through the idiomatic use of 'Wiese', and I'm not sure about 'Anstich' either. Notapotato, what do you think? "Die Wiesn" or more properly "Die Theresienwiese" ("the (Theresa) meadow(s)") is the name of the place in Munich where the Oktoberfest is traditionally held. In September. By association the Oktoberfest is also referred to by Münchner as die Wiesn. "Der Anstich" is the traditional opening ceremony of the Oktoberfest when the Mayor of Munich comes along and hammers a tap into a beer cask then announces "o'zapft is!" (="I have just hammered a tap into a beer cask.") Oans, zwoa, drei, Gsuffa. Hope that helps.

1 pointPerhaps not of all these are the best candidates, but these are people (at least on my side of the pond) that I've found people such as myself were generally surprised to find alive: Joseph Barbera - 24-Mar-1911 - The living half of Hanna-Barbera - Of course you have him on your list already this year, this is just my subtle little vote to keep him on it next year (he's my number one pick for 2006). John Archibald Wheeler - 09-Jul-1911 - Ancient American Physicist - One of the last remaining physcisits who worked on the H-bomb at Los Alamos, the guy who coined the term "black hole" and originator of the quote "Time is what prevents everything from happening at once." The man is so old he worked with Niels Bohr on physics papers! He's been slowing down a lot in recent years.. maybe he's getting ready for the final "graviational collapse?" Speaking of Neils Bohr, he has an 83 year old son by the name of Aage who might be prime deathlist material in a few years. Charles H. Townes - 28-Jul-1915 - Helped invent the maser and the laser - Laser pioneer Gordon Gould died this year at the age of 85, which does not bode well for this man. His teaching at MIT has become virtually non-existant, and he recentely won the "Templeton Prize for Progress Toward Research or Discoveries about Spiritual Realities" formerly known for being handed out for "progress in religion." Perhaps he's awaiting the end and trying to dechiper it using physics? Also, the founder of the Templeton Prize, Sir John Templeton, is 93 himself, albeit with no known health problems. James Van Allen - 07-Sep-1914 - Discoverer of the "Van Allen Belt" - Perhaps not particullarly notable enough to pass the "famous enough" test, but he hasn't taught for two decades and hasn't won an award in over 14 years. Most scientists are fairly active up until their deaths, there's a good chance he may be trying to keep some illness on the down-low. Henry Heimlich - 03-Feb-1920 - Inventor of the Heimlich Maneuver - A bit young by DL standards, but clearly insane. Here's a taste from his wiki: Maybe I'll post some more later if I feel up to it.
