I have been out of town and too busy to follow the news or spend much time on the net so it was a surprise to get home and find Pita Da Foolz topping the table. I had almost forgotten about Lima-I had pinned my hopes on Hamilton-Byrne and Ricketts (and Willesee to a very small degree). Time for the Reaper to take a holiday.

Leslie Phillips has been pretty quiet as of late and has had some big health scares over the past 5 years. Plus he’s one of those names that feel very deathlisty. He’s on till he drops imo.

The rules will be identical except BBC regional news will return as an accepted QO. There's a very boring technical issue with the site that has held me up for about a month from doing anything important, which I won't dull you with. However, I think 2019 should see the end of "updates" in the traditional sense...

It’s that time of year again, where we make suggestions to the committee about our favorite cowboy from Iowa and co but get completely ignored by the committee. So who do you think should make the deathlist in 2019?

A list of names I thought I would offer as possibilities - Bob Newhart, Gene Hackman, Clarissa Eden, Robert Fyfe, Freddie Jones, Loretta Lynn, Cleo Laine, Debra Paget, Max Von Sydow, Stuart Hall (surely it's time for him to be knocked out), Kenneth Cope, Jean Boht, Sandra Day O'Connor, Mark Eden, Hans Blix

Some post first day analysis: As of right now, there’s only one person who has appeared on every single list. Knowing about certain trends as described by the former host, I know that they won’t appear on every single list that is submitted, but for now, kudos to them on getting unanimous support so far. The name is also currently leading the pack on the Crowdsource list, and by a considerable margin too, as the distance between them and the current runner up is a whopping 74 points apart, and that’s very early in the game. They’re also the first name (and so far only name) who has broken past the point score that was necessary to break into the top 50 last year, so barring death, they will almost certainly make the Crowdsource list next year. There seems to be a bit of a trend for early voting right now, as it is the usual suspects who are the front runners at this point and time, and the big dead pooling names are starting at a bit of a disadvantage. A few of them are making traction, but overall they are behind those who are likely to be bedblockers till they drop. Part of it is probably on who has sent in a list so far, and so some of them will probably gain more traction later. Additionally, I am beginning to pick out a few names that may turn out to be this year’s cult pick on the Crowdsource list this year, kind of like Montserrat Caballe or Dilip Kumar was last year. One of them are already making headway among the front runners, a few others seem to be gathered by fewer points right now, but they definitely seem like cult names in the making. I won’t be doing analysis like this everyday, as I only think I’ll get a few more lists this month, but I do think it’s interesting on what the list looks like at this point and time...

Not quite eligible for The Curse of Eurovision, The Telegraph (paywall) obituary recalls the occasion when he entered two songs in the 1966 Irish National Song Contest (the Eirovision qualifying competition). Both songs scored zero points, meaning he tied with himself for last place.

Or their biding their time to do it until after the meaningful vote. I still have an odd feeling that in 30 years time we're going to read Graham Brady's memoirs where he says that there was 70 letters in his hand the entire time, but as nobody else knew how many he had he kept them close to his cards worried about the repercussions of a leadership election (in both Cameron and May's reigns).

BILD now says it was metastatic lung cancer... I'm not sure how sad/angry it's supposed to make me. That's the part of the media we love to hate.

Jim Ross took one hell of a fall bah gawd! That concrete is a son of a bitch! All seriousness though seems JR is hitting the bottle hard. Couple of people in the biz below his tweet saying 'hang in there'.Not sure if they know more than they're letting on or just an expression. JR I feel could go next year but I think it would be a gamble to pick him. Always that one surprise wrestling death a year! https://whatculture.com/amp/wwe/jim-ross-suffered-a-nasty-injury-last-night-photo

DRUNK DRIVERS. At the weekend a family friend was knocked off his motorbike by a wrong-way driver and killed instantly. Only 24. He did nothing wrong yet his lovely, heartbroken family must organise his funeral. The wanker's charged with being unfit to be behind the wheel due to intoxication, and death by dangerous driving. He could be in jail for up to 14 years but do I feel bad for him? Not a jot. Not when Uber exists so you don't have to recite taxi numbers whilst you're steaming at 6 in the morning. Anyone who enables a drunk driver deserves to have the book thrown at them. Please fuck off to Room 101. If you get in a car which a steamer is about to drive, you're equally responsible for whatever might happen. Hopefully you won't take any innocent people with you.
